So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
We had an 11 boat team tournament out of Lowe's Creek this past weekend. Winning stringer for 2 half days of fishing was 25+ lbs. Sat. they had a nice 5.81 kicker. My team came in 3rd with 14.90 lbs. I followed Catt's thread and tried to fish all the main lake points going out of Lowe's Creek. The wind was just terrible both days. Our luck was just like Hobo, 2.5 lbs. was max. and most were between 14 and 15 inches. We caught fish on T-rigs, spinner baits, square bills, and frogs early. Allot of small fish caught. Keep a tight line. Dutch

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
We had our little club tournament this past weekend, our weigh in site was 6 mile. We fished Sat. till 3:00 and Sun till 1:00. Heavy stringer for the 2 partial days was 22 lbs. Not many large fish, Sat. 5.12, Sun. 4.11. It was a team event with max of 5 fish. My partner and I never left 6 mile and weighed in our 5 fish each day (8 to 9 lbs) and culled a few. Caught lots of smaller fish, but could not find the kicker fish. Finished 5th out of 11 teams. Did have one big blowup on a Rib-it frog and he bit the legs right off of it. Left a hole like a wash tub. Almost all of our fish were shallow, shallow, from the bank out through the dead grass. Most came on a weightless, mint green flukes. Will fish T-Bend one more time next month on April 28 - 29th. Hope to do better then. Keep a tight line. Dutch

T.b. Tournament
The Cleveland Bass Club fished T. B. this past weekend.(12 members) You could not launch at Indian Mounds or 6 Mile. Most put in at White Oak. Winning stringer came out of Lowes Creek.(28lbs. - 2 days) Fish were holding from the weed line out to 10 ft. Few fish on topwaters, white spinner bait and plastics did most of the catching. Two over 5 and one over 6 for 12 people wasn't bad.

Lake Conroe?
The facilities around the lake are good. There are motels right on the lake, and plenty in the city of Conroe, about 5 miles from the lake. Lake Conroe is about a 1 hour drive from Houston. Conroe has a very good population of large bass. We are in an unpresidented drought and the lake level is down only approx. 3 ft. There is hardly any vegetation in the lake and the bass come out of rip-rap, brush piles, boat docks, points and drop-offs. There have been no draw-downs, mostly evaporation and lack of rainfall. There are a few local weekly tournaments held on Conroe: Thursday evening, Sunday afternoon to name a couple. Three to Four hours of fishing at these tournaments usually produce 15 to 20 pound stringers. I do not fish the local tournaments, but belong to the Cleveland Bass Club. There is also a Conroe Bass Club and a Woodlands Bass Club. The Cleveland Bass Club fishes from Feb. through Oct. and then concentrate on hunting. I fished Conroe last weekend and caught a 6.4Lb, but I only fish it a couple of times a year. Our last 4 tournaments for the year will be 2 on Toledo Bend, 1 on Sam Raburn, and 1 on Choke Canyon. There are several ramps on Conroe, 1 free, 2 gov't at $5.00 and several private at $10.00 a pop. Other lakes in Texas are way down, 9 to 15 ft. low. We still have some of the finest bass fishing in the U. S. - We may not even take a back seat to your home state of Florida. Hope this helps. Dutch (backwater)

Lake Conroe Vegatation
Especially fishfordollars - Jack: When the hydrilla came back into Conroe, fishing improved greatly and made it one of the best big bass lakes in the area. Now that they have again almost completely eradicated the weed, what do you think it will do to the bass fishing????
