dock talk...
If not for Dock Talk, do you believe in mentors or guides to help kick start a bass fisherman's journey?

dock talk...
I'm hoping to set a record for bringing back the oldest thread, but it seems that dock talk just worked for Ott Defoe as he won the 2019 Classic after talking to Keith Poche at the toilet: https://www.bassmaster.com/blog/defoe-credits-poche-divine-intervention As another side note: I think it's possible beginners could benefit from dock talk. Guys that are still learning don't have all the lures and conditions and locations figured out, sometimes dock talk could be taken as some 'tips' to help a guy still learning the ropes, pointing him in the right direction per se... Of course assuming that the experienced guy isn't lying to the beginner... I'm not sure if dock talk is always considered lies. If it is always lies, then forget what I just said.

The latest sale thread
For all the guys waiting on the eBay sales, other more generic deal sites such as slickdeals.net will be pretty on top of when the eBay discounts happen. If you're a 'true' bargain hunter, you gotta always monitor multiple deal sites Just another tip... And regarding the TW Classic sale, yes it seems like it's just a bunch of clearance stuff. Bummer it's not sitewide... On a side note, can someone point me to / DM me a list of all the 'blacklisted' companies on this site? I feel like there are a few deal sites that aren't welcome on this forum, I just wanted to see the list so I can make sure i don't post one of them...

Bassmaster Elite St. Johns River
I'm sure most of us here have kids, a wife, a house, chores, actual fishing, etc so unfortunately some of us may fare better with the condensed version. I'm with ya!

Bassmaster Elite St. Johns River
I noticed a lot of names I didn't recognize, since the migration. I do like when they show the map with where everyone is at. I guess it just depends on if you have enough time to watch both circuits or just one, etc. If it's only one, I'd probably pick MLF just for the names. BASS the guys are going to catch a lot of fish just like MLF, they just gotta cull...

Bass Pro Tour Live kick off
Group 2 doesn't gain advantage over Group 1, but Group 2 gains advantage over other guys in Group 2. If one guy in Group 2 finds out a jerkbait is the hot bait, he could beat other group 2 guys that never got that piece of information, etc.

Really surprising. Their inventory management must not be able to handle a rush of all the orders all in a few seconds... Hope you can find them somewhere else...

Any bank anglers use Deeper Pro sonar fish finder?
Expensive, but Humminbird and Navionics should be paying for one of these to add more coverage to the list of lakes they support. For how much they charge for the maps, especially Navionics at I think $100 per year, this should more than cover it. Regarding the Deeper sonars, I would also spend some time on Youtube to get a better idea about them.

Reviving an old thread?
Thanks guys! I knew I ended up in the right place. So far, I'm more than impressed with this forum, lots of good knowledge and respectful people. A rarity on the internet these days!

Reviving an old thread?
Sometimes I don't keep up on the forum but I use the search a lot and stumble across an older thread and have interest in posting a reply. I know on many forums you can get flamed for reviving an old thread. So what is it like on this forum? Should I make my comment ? Or if I missed the boat, then I need to forget about it? Thanks!

Quick classic question
Thanks Sam. Let us know. Sorry for the silly question, I was just curious. I will say maybe they do it in the spring so it is during spawning time? Just a wild guess.

Quick classic question
What is the theory of why the classic is held in the middle of the elite series rather than a “championship” at the end, based on the season leaderboard ?

Horsing/Skiing fish to the boat
Wow! Great response guys! Lots of good info and great opinions. Thanks for participating!

Horsing/Skiing fish to the boat
Such as what species? Additionally, what part of fishing brings you the most enjoyment? I guess there is some kind of limit regarding the 'fight'. I know some guys that fight 300lb tuna, it takes 3 hours, and your body is bent out of shape at the end of it... So there is some happy medium in between

Horsing/Skiing fish to the boat
This is purely just a discussion thread where I expect there to be a million opinions, so no one needs to get bent out of shape... Perhaps it was the way that I grew up, or just my personality, but I really enjoy the 'fight' part of fishing. Starting with the bite, the game is on and now it comes to playing/fighting the fish to the boat. Once the fish is to the boat and in the net, the game is 'over'. I see so many guys horse their fish to the boat and the fight lasts a whole 3 seconds? There definitely doesn't seem to be much fun in that. NOW, I suppose this behavior is required for tournament fishing, where time is of the essence and it is crucial the fish makes it to the boat if thousands or millions of dollars are on the line. The more you 'play' the fish, the greater chances of the hook popping out, the fish getting tangled in cover, etc. The worst is topwater fishing, when the fish is already on the surface and then the hookset happens, and the pull is so hard by the angler the fish is practically SKIING across the surface of the water and then gets whipped into the boat. Anyways, would love to hear from everyone how they like to fight their fish and if the fight is not the best part of bass fishing for them, what is the part they enjoy the most!

Navionics Mapping - No Cove Names?
I am near a lot of reservoirs in California. The main river channel always has creek arms and other coves, and these have names the fisherman refer to. However, I am never seeing these names published on the Navionics maps. Is this normal? Are they ever going to add this? This seems crazy to not label creek arms/etc. See attached screenshot for example.
