  1. As far as balance goes, the veritas is about as good as it gets.
  2. Any idea what breed it is? Very nice looking pup. I have a old black lab and 2 patterdale terriers.
  3. A veritas and a citica would be a excellent choice. The citica is a great reel and can be bought on e-bay for less than a $100. A fast act. rod would be ideal so the 6'6" or 7' mh veritas would be good. The 6'9" veritas is extra fast and probably not as versitile as the fast action.
  4. I have 4 of the XML rods and they are great rods but I like the split grip and the new models don't have the split grip if I remember correctly. Waiting on the Hammond, IN store to get the new prodigy micro guide rods in so I can take a look at them. I'm leaning towards adding one to my collection for this year after getting my hands on one. Yes they are the $99 also. The prodigy micros are sweet looking! What's the sensitivity diff. between prod. and xml?
  5. I haven't used a prodigy yet but the cabelas XML rods are awesome. The store by me still has some of the left over clearance rods for $59. They have a new XML coming out this year, but I think the blank is the same w/ different paint job. I was just there and saw the new prodigy micro guide rods. They looked pretty tempting. They're the same price as the reg. ones too I think,$99.
  6. I fished w/ frogginstein all last summer and he enlightened me on this. I was new to PP and had all moss green on my reels. Line watching became very hard. I already have some yellow spooled on some of my reels ready to go for this season.
  7. I handled the tour. pro for the 1st time today at Cabelas. I thought the frame would be similar to a revo but it was lower profile. It felt really nice and I think I'll be pulling the trigger on one. Winter time monkey is bad.
  8. I agree, the card was boring. Silvas kick was awesome and I liked seeing Jones fight. As much as I'd like to see Silva get beat it doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon. Jones is definitely the best up and comer. Him and Silva share the same build, which they both use to their advantage. That lean lanky build (with skills) is devestating in wrestling, boxing and mma.
  9. 39. Is it 40 or 50 when your not supposed to trust a fart?
  10. Crab, I've been researching the idea of trying to build an hmx myself and it will be my 1st rod. Was building one harder than you expected? Also, did you get a turner/dryer or just turn it yourself during the drying process. I guess I'm just trying to see if I'm getting in over my head or not.
  11. I wouldn't be afraid to buy here on the flea market or E-bay. Pictures are a must and on E-bay look at feedback. They don't have to have 100% and you can look as to why they are at 96% or whatever. I have used E-bay a ton without any problems. I have been somewhat carefull who I buy from though. If you make a habit of screwing people on E-bay you won't last very long and your feedback will show it. As far as people selling new stuff there for discounted prices, I think its basically a situation where they're selling quantity for less profit.
  12. Him and Joan Rivers.. : Those 2 and Bob Barker ;D
  13. This is the only time I have had problems with them. First time fishing with this rod too. I have 6 of them and used them pretty heavily in some tight situations and they have excelled in performance. Love them dont regret buying them at all. Caught 3 over 4lbs today on KVD 1.5 no probs whatsoever. Good to hear!
  14. either of these 2 would be great or a pflueger patriarch xt( can be had on e-bay for under $200). The xt and the stx have dual breaking. I used to own a sx and it was a good reel, but the mag. braking alone was hard to get used to for me. I was used to chucking shimanos centrifugal systems. e7, stx, or xt would be my choices. They are all very good reels.
  15. Sure are a lot of these rods breaking. I have one but won't be able to try it out till spring.
  16. I have a pflueger patriarch xt and a revo premier that have those knobs and I'm not exactly crazy about them myself. I really like the reels though so I'm going to learn to live with them.
  17. I'm jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Thats hilarious! Wonder how many billy club hits she took once they got her out of the car?
  19. I picked the portapotty because that would be the best case scenario. Otherwise beaching the boat would work. A number of years ago my dad, cousin and I were on a limited access lake fishing out of my dads 14' boat. My dad had to go and didn't want to go to shore so he pulls out this stainless steel bowl about twice or more the size of a cereal bowl. My cousin and I looked at each other and were like "no way". We told him we weren't going to let him and he got ticked off and got into the very back of the boat (the back bench also went along both sides to make a u w/ a opening in the very back for a gas tank). He took out the tank and plopped himself back there. Imagine a overweight bald guy crammed in the gas compartment. My cousin had his camera and snapped one off. We laughed hysterically for at least 10 minutes. You had to be there to fully appreciate the humor. ;D
  20. Yes they can. I had it done a while back.
  21. Small tear drops or small jigs that have been mentioned and most importantly, waxworms.
