  1. Good point deputy Dave. I also am a equipment junkie. I just ordered my first core 50 yesterday. Extremely excited for its arrival. To pair with it I also ordered a 7' Kistler helium II med. rod. This will be my first Kistler also. I do have a 6'8" cumara mh and it is a awesome rod. The Cumara would be an excellent choice for you.
  2. I see that nobody has posted for a while but I wanted to add my 2 cents worth. I don't bed fish. Most of the time our season would make it impossible, but I'm sure there are times when it could occur. However, my answer to the topic is that i enjoy sight fishing ON OCCASION. My experience with it was fall time though. During the northern Minnesota fall smallie gourgefest. During the middle of the day on a very clear lake my dad and I would spot roaming smallies and cast a #9 orig. floating rapala near them, twitch it and they would fight over it. Very exiciting. I agree with earlier posts though. I would rather be surprised. We've only been lucky enough to truly sight fish like that a few times. Change is good.
  3. I just started using power pro. I've been a firm believer in mono for many years. There are three reasons I decided to try something new. 1-people raving about the "new" styles of braid. 2- I was sick of my spinning reels getting twisted line from my occasional river fishing. I don't use my baitcasters when I'm river fishing so that wasn't an issue. 3- the excellent strength to line dia. that braid offers. So far I've only expirienced one thing that I don't care for. The noise it makes going through the guides. Also, a person needs to be aware of the lack of stretch. If your not used to it you can really "over set" the hook. Otherwise, I would have to say it impresses me. More sensitivity, great strength, less backlashes with my bait casters, less birds nests, and lastly no twisted line. So far so good. Only time will tell if it completely convinces me. Everyone has their preferences and opinions, techniques etc.... and thats the way it should be!!
