  1. If your looking at 5" difference per turn, it would be a 50" difference after 10 full rotations of the handle. 10 turns on a 30 IPT reel would be 25'. The 25 IPT reel would be 20'10".
  2. i'm not a huge fan of the eva knobs on any reels either.
  3. That video of him was insane. I have NEVER saw that kind of technique in a kid of that age. Usually you see that kind of performance out of a teenage kid (and by that I mean a good teenage kid). Very, very talented! I was big into wrestling growing up. Folkstyle, greco and freestyle. Wrestled for a short stint my freshmen year of college until I had a herniated disc and was forced to give it up. Great sport! MN just had their HS state tourney this last weekend. An Apple Valley senoir (Destin McCauley 152#) won his 5th state championship. Would have been 6th but he lost in the finals his sophomore year. Hes supposedly the #1 recruit in the nation.
  4. 3 IPT really isn't that much or too noticeable most of the time. If a hooked fish is running at you or if your trying to burn your bait in so you can make another quick cast the speed helps. Its also nice for getting buzzbaits going quicker and keeping them at the top.
  5. The new black ones with the carbon fiber handle sure look and feel nice.
  6. I was able to handle a tournament pro baitcaster and thought the same thing as you. I was also wondering if they fished as good as they look and feel.
  7. I used a premier baitcaster for years. Caught my PB northern and bass on it. Lots of good memories. Not the most sensitive stick in the world, but a good solid rod thats well worth the $.
  8. Exactly. The plant is about 25 miles north of me in Northfield, MN.
  9. I'm a self employed plumber here. Things are a little slow up here right now. I'm kind of jealous of you guys at times though. Twice a year (beginning of cold weather and beginning of hot weather) you guys can pretty much plan on being busy.
  10. When I'm looking for a low budget rod I go for the Cabelas rods. The fish eagle II is $79.99 retail and all of cabelas rods go on sale from time to time. Actually they have their new prodigy micro guide rods on sale for $79.99, down from $99.99. IMHO you get a little better "bang for your buck" when you buy a in-house rod.
  11. The Pit Bulls bad reputation over the years has in turn attracted bad people to own them. "tough guys", gangbangers..... This just makes the reputation worse. Yes they were bred to fight, other dogs, not people. Being mauled by any dog is a tragedy to say the least. Other breeds have been bred to take down humans. I won't say which cause I'm not going to start a big war here. Breeding out bad and unwanted traits is a must in every breed. Just as being a responsible owner of any breed. Like Raul said, some little dogs are terrible for being biters. The thing is a little dog is easy to overpower. A Pit, German Shepherd, or a Rott are not. People w/ strong powerful dogs have to take all the precautions necessary to insure others safety. Good kennels that the dogs can't get out of if the owner is not present. The little dogs I pictured earlier are bred to aggressively go after game. They will chase and not back down to raccoon, fox, ground hogs, nutrea rats and even badger. If you saw them hunt you might not think they were nice(to humans). They are the most friendliest dogs around. You can't get them to leave you alone and they'll lick you to death. So, like said in a earlier post, you can't stereotype a certain breed. However its good to be knowledgeable about different breeds and what their characteristics are.
  12. It does all boil down to the owner. Some dogs just need to be put down and all the others need to be under the controll of their owner.
  13. Litter my female had last winter (patterdale terriers) One of those pups at 9 mos. (last fall) one looking at camera, his mother to his left (in the puppy pic. he is the lower right)
  14. Yes, terriers. They are my favorite breed of dog. I've been highly involved w/ patterdale terriers for about 15 years now. They're bred to go to ground/ woodpiles/ junkpiles.... for vermine. They are around 10-20lbs. In a lot of ways their personalities reflect that of pits. Most aren't as dog aggressive, but some are. Definitely animal agressive. Terriers are very much people dogs though (not all of course). The patterdales are a much more manageable size!
  15. I fished with the citica e and the curado e last summer. Is the curado better? Yes, but not by as much as some think. Citica e's brand new on ebay for around $92.
  16. I grew up with pits myself. Most of them are great dogs and people lovers. Out of the many my dad raised I can only remember 1 or 2 that I was told to stay away from(don't go in their chain length). This was mainly because they were hyper and I was a small boy. On the other side of the coin. They are, for the most part, animal and dog aggressive. Owners need to be "the pack leader" as Caeser would say. Even the nicest ones are capable of bad things. They're powerful and bite hard. There are definitely other breeds just as capable of destruction. Like already said, a lot depends on the owner and also the dogs bloodlines. Any good breeder knows to cull certain traits when breeding. Too many people in the U.S. breed dogs(of any breed) that don't know what they're doing. The English practice strict breeding guidelines and were the creators of most of the popular breeds today. Some people in our country have bred just to breed and ruined strains of dogs. For instance, today you have to look far and hard to find a good hunting lab thats bloodlines haven't been diluted by trash.
  17. SWEET. I love the merganser eating the bullhead!
  18. I was also looking into the micro guide prod. The 7' heavy for a frog/heavy cover rod.
  19. I personally have not used the catalyst so I can't comment.
  20. I have used the sx and the e7. They run a pretty tight race. The sx feels more solid and smoother, but the e7 casts a lot more "hassle free". The curado is also lighter. My choice would be the e7 narrowly.
  21. I have not used a PQ, but as far as the citica e is concerned, well worth the $.
  22. I talked with Keith Bryan(powell owner) on the phone a couple of weeks ago and he said the endurance was a little lighter & a little more sensitive than the max. Since I have never handled a powell I was wondering if you could compare the sensitivity to any other popular rods.
  23. I've been seriously considering the 723 endurance for a designated senko rod. There hasn't been a lot of reviews yet.
  24. The XML line at cabelas is on sale for $99. I have 2 spinning and 2 casting XML's and they are great rods. You can even get a balance system for an extra $15, but it isn't necessary. I've owned many different rods that cost much more than the XML and are no better.
