IMO shimano's centrifugal braking system seems to be more forgiving than some other brands. Especially if you use 3 or 4 brakes to start out with. Once you get use to it, 2 brakes is usually enough.

They're really good at biting through line w/ those teeth. I've lost a lot of expensive bass lures to northerns biting them off. They can bite through 50# braid just as fast as 6# mono.

I prefer it to PP. Its rounder, quieter, and softer.

Agreed. Even when he dominated Koscheck it was very boring. Jab, jab, another jab..... Anderson Silva knows how to finish at least.

Mark Hominick after fighting Jose Aldo

As great and dominant as GSP is, he is boringly over cautious. He is very good though. On the otherhand, Shields didn't pressure him and was cautious also IMO. Hominick got beat in the early rounds and came on strong in the end. He had a HUGE goose egg on his forehead!!! All in all it was a pretty good PPV.

The Aldo-Hominick fight was a great fight IMO. Also, did you see the prelim they showed after the GSP fight? Brutal spinning back fist(or whatever you call it)!

IMO once a person gets used to a BC, its hard to fish with anything else. For lighter tackle, live bait, and other species, a spinning reel has its place.

How would you rate the sensitivity of the new powell to your crucials?

Can't wait. Our Bass opener is Saturday of memorial weekend though.

20 years ago my friends and I went to Florida for spring break. We stopped at a little cafe in TN to eat. Me- "what kind of pop do you have?" waitress- with a weard look, "pie? we have cherry, pecan, apple....." Must have been the north/ south language barrier, lol.

My 2 year old boy will be three in september. His TT's started at about 18mos. and its progessively got worse. Sometimes he is the sweetest little angel, but..... Also, he tries to compete with his 2 older brothers (8 and 10), which makes it worse. I also have a teenage girl and would prob. take the TT's over a teenager. I don't have too many gray hairs, but I think every one I do have is from the kids!

Did you get the medium heavy casting rod? I've been wanting to get that one and would be curious as to your thoughts on it and what other rods it might compare to. I've never held a Powell rod.

Glad to see some good reviews on the tool. I ordered mine about a week ago. Originally I made one of those "do it your self" plier tools, but it was a case of the wrong tool for the job. I got away w/ it a couple times then I wrecked a pin. At that point I decided the tool was worth 45 bucks. With the pliers I was also nervous about bending or scratching the spool shaft.

I know that a lot of the high priced rods are very good rods, but there is a point where I can't justify the price, personally. If I had a signifigant amount of cash on hand I'd buy them all. Untill thats the case I'll settle w/ mid priced stuff.
