  1. X3 on the invisX. I'd like to try tatsu, but can't justify paying that much.
  2. The Vikes have McNabb now, but we lost our best reciever to free agency, Sydney Rice. It will be a interesting year.
  3. The pee hole hose is not in the lower unit. It normally comes off the water jacket on the cylinder to show you there is water circulating. Did you check the impeller when you had the lower unit off? If not take it off again and you can put the hose back were it belongs and check the impeller. The impeller is inside a round housing probably near the shaft you are speeking of. They are rubber and do wear out. Chunks of rubber can break off or the paddles get so worn they just fold.
  4. DVT serviced a reel for me and I was more than happy. Price was great and I got the reel back quickly.
  5. The oil change should have nothing to do with it. Its possible that you need a new impeller. Also, its possible that your intake(grate in lower unit) got clogged or the hose that goes to the "pee hole" is clogged. Mud, weeds and seeds in the water can sometimes get sucked up and clog things up.
  6. I've been wanting to pull the trigger on a micro guide rod, but haven't yet. Not sure which one I want. Maybe a Ducket, Kistler LTA, new Okuma helios.... I'd love to get one of the top of the line Z-Bones, but can't afford to drop that much $. I was told by someone that the micros do well pitching also.
  7. I agree that the Dobyns are a little over rated. I had a champion 733c and it was a great rod, but there are many rods in this $ range that are equally impressive or better. The cumara being one of them.
  8. Thats funny. More than once I've saw people up here in MN heading up north w/ a big deep/wide walleye boat behind a minivan. The bumper of the van almost dragging on the road.
  9. Like mentioned earlier, big hills might be hard on the tranny. If you baby it when you know its working hard it will be fine. When the tranny starts shifting up, down and back up again is when its working hard. I've owned some nice boats thru the years, but the economy has me currently using a old 1970 fiberglass tri-hull w/ a evinrude 60hp. Its old and HEAVY. Actually, its works pretty decent for fishing because it is nice and stable. I pull this with my plumbing van which is a 99 Astro w/ a 4.3. It handles it pretty well considering I have the van loaded down w/ fittings and tools. Neither the boat or vehicle are ideal, but they're paid for.
  10. They look really good, just like their frogs. My big question is- Has anyone ever had any luck using a mouse type lure? Honestly I've never used one or heard of many people doing so. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewicast11koppersfreshwater.html
  11. I don't think its a question of wether the new reels are any good. I'm sure they will perform great. Its the renaming and regressing that has everyone complaining. A person doesn't have to hold one in their hands to see what Shimano did!
  12. I really like shimano, but you won't see me buying or recommending their new lineup. What a disappointment. Luckily I'm not tied to one brand. I love my pat. xt and my okuma cayennes are pretty decent reels. I also have a cabelas prod. which really makes me want to try a nice Daiwa in the future. I waited for the release of these shimanos before deciding what my next reel will be. I have one empty rod and it will be filled w/ the new $250 daiwa or a new okuma komodo. Hopefully sales of the new shimanos will be poor and they'll come out w/ something new again. I won't be holding my breath.
  13. TW has the new curados and chronarchs. I didn't even bother to see if they were actually available yet because after looking at the specs I didn't care. The old curado e is now the new chronarch and the new curado has regressed. Guess I'll be checking out Daiwa and Okumas new offerings this year.
  14. I haven't actually owned a Daiwa, but I did pick up a cabelas prodigy last winter when they were on clearance. It's made by Daiwa and shares thhe same braking system. After using the reel for a couple months I have to say I'm impressed. It definitely has me wanting to try a better Daiwa. Not anything over $250 though. $650 for a reel is a little out of my income bracket.
  15. One of my boys hooked the other through the meat on his eyebrow w/ a spinnerbait. He was very lucky that it didn't go through his eyeball.
  16. Sadly, I'm in the process of trying to quit smoking. One of my stratgies is to start chewing. I figure it is the lesser of 2 evils, but whos to say. I used to chew copenhagen before I started smoking and now I just get the marlboro spitless pouches. They don't have the kick like copenhagen, but I can't walk around w/ a cope in and not spit.
  17. I'd like to see someone noodle that.
  18. The one I ate was caught out of a southern MN lake. I won't eat just any fish, but I tried it because my buddy wouldn't shut up about it. If I had to choose between the walleye and the sheephead I would pick the walleye. However, the sheephead was good. I caught some crappies out of a local lake a few years ago that tasted horrible and I love crappies. Different areas, time of year, bodies of water etc.... probably play as big a role in taste as species some times.
  19. Agreed. They maybe should'nt have went for the gusto. Karma will catch up with her eventually.
  20. I had a abu round baitcaster for several years that I put 3 of those pawls in. Dirt and or dust in the worm gear wears it down. Now I have reels covers on all my baitcasters. I was told that one of the worst things is the dust they collect from running down gravel roads. Its very fine grit and sands away at that pawl.
  21. I've had ups and downs w/ hookup ratio on frogs. Some days it seems like they're blowing up a foot away from it and other days they darn near swallow the whole frog instantly.
  22. This is about exactly the going rate on Ebay. 200+ for NIB.
