Anybody Else Surprised?

Wow is right. I thought it was just a matter of whether or not she'd get the death penalty. She just went from Death Row to the sidewalk.

Ha, sorry. I literally know nothing about the case except from an article headline i read yesterday entitled "Party girl goes on trial"...

now that i think about it that's pretty messed up huh? meh.

edit: is this going to be like the OJ thing? where everyone is obsessed with it and we are still going to be hearing about it for years after? 100 bucks she gets a reality show.

The so-called experts kept saying there wasn't any "smoking gun" evidence. So what is the "death smell" in her trunk and the kids DNA.

I was hoping to hear a guilty verdict while listening live at work today. Just reminds me of watching the OJ verdict at work during lunch years ago. What a travesty. Hopefully she gets the maximum sentence allowed by law for the 3 charges she was found guilty on.

I don't think it's anything like the 'oj thing'. She received a fair trial, the jury did their job, and the fact is that no one will ever know what really happened.

Your right.

Her or her family were definitely guilty of some wrong doing, whatever it was.

I watched a lot of the trial online and honestly the evidence to convict her was pretty slim. I thought she had about a 50/50 shot being found not guilty. All the state had was circumstantial evidence with nothing really tying her to the death besides the smell, but a smell doesn't prove murder. She is most likely guilty but you can't convict without evidence.

From what I gathered, this was a case of a prosecutor trying to make a name for themselves and being too ambitious. While I'm not a lawyer or anything, it seems the evidence for 1st degree murder was kind of lacking. Maybe someone here is a lawyer and could shoot my theory down, but I would guess they could got her for neglience or something easier.

I feel the state messed up when they went for the murder charges. They should have gone for a lesser charge (even though they included them as additional charges), and Casey may have gone for a plea deal. We may then know what really happened, instead of trying to read between the lies.

I honestly think it was a case of an accident of either overdose of "Zany the Nanny-(Zanex)" or too much Chlorophyll being applied to knock out Calie, so Casey can party. Then she moved on to weaving lies to cover it up. She reminded me of Susan Smith who drowned her boys and made up the carjacking story.

Having smelled human Decomp in my former job, it is unmistakable for anything but human decomp. You can actually think back and recall exactly how it smells.

All in all she had her day in court, and was found "not Guilty". I don't believe it is the same as "innocent", but not "guilty beyound a reasonable doubt".

Regardless of what happens to her, she has to wake up and go to bed every day for the rest of her life with the truth.

Her life is basically ruined anyway.

She will probably be alone the rest of her life, jobless, and filled with guilt.

Not saying this makes up for her not going to jail, but it's better than nothing.

Couldn't have really said it any better.

Somebody somewhere is responsible. I'm sure that the investigation will continue. Some day the truth will probably come out. I'm not surprised with the outcome.

It ain't whatcha ya know, it's what you can prove, and the prosecution didn't prove the case.

It's possible she may get some jail time on the misdeamnor charges, 4 of them and up to a year in jail for each, this is up to the judge and some of the pundits feel the judge was not happy with the verdict.

A civil suit is being filed, at present she has no money, but there may book, movie deals out there.

I don't know if she did it on purpose or if maybe it was an accident and she tried to cover it up but I believe strongly that she did it. I think what bothers me most is the fact that she will probably get rich off of it and that money is bound to attact someone to her along with the chance to be famous for a minute with her and potentially produce another child. I have to agree with an earlier poster that they might have hoped for a little too much by going for 1st degree murder. If they'd gone for 2nd degree with the option to plea out to manslaughter she would have still done significant time and we would know what really happened. I think the jury did what was expected of them and did not convict her because of the lack what they saw as solid evidence. I think they had enough for a lesser coviction but when a persons life is on the line it is hard enough for someone to vote guilty for fear of feeling like they had blood on their hands if that person goes to the chair or takes the needle. I don't agree with it, but I do understand it and I'm not surprised at all.

I feel she should of been found guilty. My reasoning was that there was a piece of hair found in the trunk with post mortem on it that was from Caylee Anthony. She failed to report her daughter missing for 31 days, which by that time the body had decomposed alot and all DNA on the body or around the body would be gone. There are really only 2 scenarios that could of happened in this case.

1. She killed her baby and by waiting so long that to report her missing, she was able to get off.

2. It was a total accident and she tried to cover it up rather then actually reporting the accident.

Either way, she is going to have a horrible life unless she does a couple of books, sells her story, get's rich and moves out of the country. No one is going to be able to see this woman and be okay with it.

My biggest problem was that she didnt get found guilty on child neglect, or child endangerment.

It better not be the sidewalks in Orlando. I have relatives there and they don't think that girl will survive public life. They say that there's a lot of people enraged about that whole deal.

I hope nobody does anything stupid.

Agreed. They maybe should'nt have went for the gusto. Karma will catch up with her eventually.
