Boat in a truck bed?
Go to www.kellybluebook.com - there you will be able to tell what you want is worth and to price trucks you find...unless you need dealer financing, buy from an individual. No need to pay $1200 in taxes you could spend on a boat. Go with a V6, you will hate the V4 and the mileage on a truck isnt much different considering the weight of the truck that the smaller motor has to pull. Doubt you will be able to find what you described for that price.and 4x4 if you think you may need it, no not mudding, but getting in and out the ramps, your fishing will expand......I would be looking for a truck with 50,000 to 100,000 miles, with proper maintainace you can put 200,000+ on them without major work being done... Find a gheenoe, as long as your trip specific on gear 2 people fish out of my 13ft square back fine, i have a trailor and alot of times its much easier to unload it off the truck.......its even better by yourself...and totally stable....I haul it on a f150 with no tool box fine, did haul it on a Z71 with a toolbox no problems....I have hauled a 16 footer no problem. if you are set on a john boat ,I would look at the widest 12 -14 ft john boat you can find and will fit on your truck....smaller than 12 and they get dangerous. I would only do the bare minimum decking it out, because its going to make it heavy and really hard to handle alone without a trailer, and you will trust me...Also go with the best quality aluminum you can find....there are many grades of aluminum, many are not made to last, I would avoid rivets if possible, welded is the way to go, they seem to pop loose more in smaller boats than bigger ones. Also, dont get over your head in your fishing destinations....there is no way I would ever think about putting my gheenoe or other john boats i have used and fished from in bigger lakes....NO WAY..... I have a 18ft heavy duty aluminum bassboat and have been nervous before.... You will get swamped, it is not fun and you will lose gear.....Between the wakes from bigger boats and the wind, you are asking for trouble and the lakes you are speaking of are a lot more open than the lakes here.

speed limit for bass boats?
Several of our federal lawmakers are pushing for all boaters and private plane owners to be licsensed, tested anually, and taxed more, even johnboat :. Cant remember the link, sure you can find it, read about this on a saltwater website..doesnt look like the boating/fishing lobbies are going to have enough money to fight it..This will cost us more $$$, they will charge for the license, fees, and annual taxes they are wanting.... Even want something on the boats similar to a dog chip, where they can fly over and know who is on the water. Scary aint it. All in the name of fighting terrorism. Think its more of making it harder for non-rich to afford to have a plane or boat....way to generate more money, plus it frees up more resources..... So enjoy it while you can.

Sunglasses?
Survival Optics sunglasses(google it) (sos) are what i have been wearing for a few years. Check out there dive series, about half of what other high grade glasses cost yet same components, plus the company is in florida. I have had Oakley, ray-bans, costas, and a few others and I keep buying the SOS's. They dont have any with glass lenses, though.

When all else fails...
when i actually got to fish...here is what i did... :'( I like going to the rivers/large creeks feeding the lakes i am fishing....current is your best friend. Days like that when going and finding current, cooler water isnt an option.Points, channel bends,DOCKS,humps,...... used to be a C-rig after 10:30 if nothing was happening...small worms have produced big fish for me in the past... like the zoom c-tails and a trick worm...If I am more zeroed in on deep structure(8ft+) I will go to a t-rig trickworm or a 1/2 or 3/4 oz. jig. and a norman deep little N and a dt 10 tied on too... And a 1/2 oz. buzzbait, you will be shocked at the fish that will hit one on a day like you described. 1/4 oz. bite me shakey head with a finnese worm also... so basically i just keep doing my usual summer pattern.

My damn BPS extreme rod snapped after ONE USE!
It happens. I would have bought something like it local for this weekend. Then sent the old one back for a refund. few years ago I bought one of the mid-range bps fly rods, over a $100. 5 or 6 casts into the trip the thing snapped mid-way down the 1 section casting a small fly. It was a 9ft 6 or 7 wt rod. I took it back and got my money back. They didnt have another one like it. Unless its a house brand, It depends on who you talk to taking stuff back to the store. Yestersay I was BPS in macon to return a reel. 18 yr old kid from fishing comes to exchange counter and says they dont sell them, never have, take it back to Savannah store where it came from or pay to get it fixed and walks off....I knew they had them a xmas, and the store had only been open for 6 months. Well the manager walks up and i tell her what the problem is. 10 minutes later I have a gift card for the full amount. Yet the rod I also had to return that I bought right after XMas at the Macon bps I am stuck with....they couldnt find any record of ever having carried them, sold them,etc...I asked if i could bring it back with the reciept and they didnt know if that would help either since nothing was in computer.... : :'(

Daiwa Tournament Procaster
Look around ebay and google Daiwa procaster-X, i think mine are 103HA's , they have an aluminum frame and cost around $100 bucks when they came out, now you can get them between $20-50 around the web. Have used one with braid for flipping for a while and it hasnt acted up yet. Smooth drag, well made reels, that are a real bargain these days. I also like the BPS extreme's7:1 geared reels. Had to oil it when i got it and break it in, but its fishs pretty nice now.

want to try a new line
Used XL a little while and it doesnt hold up good. Try P-Line CX premium(flourocarbon coated) or Gamma co-polymer, cant go wrong with either one....I really like the CX for everything, casting and spinning gear... I like P-line FLourocarbon on casting gear, its doesnt do as well on spinning tackle. XL is good for 6-10 lb test on spinning gear, though, I dont know about spinning friendly flourocarbon, because i havent needed it yet. Braidwise after using PowerPro for the last 7 or 8 years, I switched to Spiderwire stealth and have been really impressed...plus it keeps its color and i feel like it holds a knot better and resists knicks.

drink more, pick one out and buy here plenty of drinks...starting out dont aim so high, start out with ones that is do-able, got to work your way up. she will look better as you will to her after each drink....... if i think of more I will post.....learned alot being in college 8 years at one of the nations best party schools, but you forget alot too.... the party lifestyle i led back then, i had alot more one niters than girlfriends so there are alot of things that worked that i dont remember, which there are alot of things you dont want to remember, another great thing about beer... You could always try what my one of my college roomates would do when he was in a slump...Throw a kegger or go to a kegger or club(especially on ladies nite, dollar nite, etc.) well hang around and get good and buzzed, go out later if needed. You want to be there at closing time or one of the last to leave the party. You pick the best looking girl left that is unspoken for or dancing alone and the drunkier the better as long as she isnt puking and work your mojo. etc. Worked well for him over the years, I have even used this strategy when needed.

bright color jigs
There is a Ga company called Ol Nelle that makes some great jigs, only company that makes a flipping jig with a gammie EWG hook. They have a few colors that have i havent seen elsewhere... One is GA Craw- bright orange and brown, another is Dragonfly- real natural blues, golds, green pumpkin,- works great on a SB or jig, looks just like a bream to me... Use it in clear to light stain and the craw color in stain and mud, blue bird skies...... When fish are hitting the craw color they whack it hard...

Shoal Bass Waters
Not many in lanier, they dont do well in standing water, have heard of them hybridizing with spotted bass too. There are some in the Hooch and some of the smaller feeders going into lanier that have enough current. There are some below lanier too.

mushroomhead vs slipknot debate (metal fans)
Linkin park is alternative rock I guess.....glad they are evolving out of what they started out as for the sake of their career, real metal bands dont get played on pop stations. Also heard rap rock/alternative hard rock crap called **** rock, considering the largest demographic of fans are 13-18 yr old boys, i think that is an appropriate name. ;D Yeah Limp Bizkit and the like are probably used by the U.S military to torture enemies, the stuff is unbearable to listen to. and what is the deal with this emo crap? i dont get it.

mushroomhead vs slipknot debate (metal fans)
I like slipknot dont know much about either, both ripped off Gwar in a lot of ways.....not a big metal listener anymore, just pre-tournament mornings really, i listen to jam band stuff the most now, but was into the heavy stuff when i was younger.... Tool,pre-black album Metallica,Pantera, Danzig, early White Zombie, Slayer,Motorhead, Iron Maiden, and Deftones......4Biz is the only one that really knows what real metal is as far as this thread goes. Everything else posted is Alternative hard rock or something..... its like wanna be metal but the $ is something or other.....I am waiting for someone to mention some hardcore rap rock ;D

Soprano's Finale
Muddy, i dont see it as romantizing crime. Its a well written, clever, and entertaining show that shows the full spetrum of the character who just so happened to be a fictional mob boss. The reality on TV far more glorifies violence, sex and crime more than the sopranos. It was more real than the Godfather or Goodfellas, showed what toll the life really had on them, took away the heroic villian aspect of the movies. There were alot of things about the characters in the sopranos that regular people could relate with in many ways, made them human so much more than most any tv show ever, which is why there was so much interest in the show.... Awesome ending, completely brilliant ended very similar to some of my favorite books. Chase's writing influences shine thoughtout the show and he ended it in the best way possible. A bloodbath would have been pretty cheesy. One angle is Tony got whacked, I had forgot about the talk with Bobby.then there was the Scarface-esque tease with tony upstairs with the M16 in the episode before....One of the guys in the diner was Phil's cousin, the other was a relative of someone Chris whacked at some point. Then i look at it like the show was meant to show the most turbulent/profitable time in a mob boss' life and everything came full circle, even Tony had on the shirt he wore in the first episode in the last scene. Janice turned into her mother, AJ was back to his old self......just the most interesting time period in the characters lives, ending the way it did left us to debate what happened and think what we want to. There are clues in the last 2 episodes that there prollie want be a movie or it could be to throw us off. One was how tony thought of chris' movie, AJ the flunkie gets a job in movie production, remarks about the disposablity of writers and few others show Chase's opinion of the movie industry. but a rumored $50,000,0000 offer to write and help make the movie might change his mind after he thinks about it..

Goldfish Bait
If its legal go for it....Expensive though....Private pond i dont think it matters...... Here in Ga, There is actually one public lake(few thousand acres) where goldfish are perfectly legal and can be bought at a bait shop near the lake for $7 a dozen. It has alot of vegatation, large catfish and stripers, which may explain why they are legal bait there and in no other public Ga water. Big shiners will work just as well if no better most places though.

shaky head rig night fishing?
They work good at night dragging them in and around brushpiles and nearby docks w/ lights. This gets real good in july and august once the water gets hot and even the night feeders are picky. I use the 1/4 oz. bite-me heads for working the edges and dock post, usually with a black or red-bug trickworm. If this doesnt work or there are alot of shade in the area while i am there, I will use a 1/4 spot remover with an original Zoom fluke(small, solid body) cut a 1/4 off the nose. I will throw it and let it drop straight down into the cover(especially a loose brushpile) i am fishing which most of the time is 6-10ft deep and comes up almost to the surface.....I bump up my tackle to a MH spinning rod w/ 12lb P-line CX....

Process of keeping fish?
Fileting isnt good for panfish, IMO.you are taking away alot of the flavor by not leaving on the fins,bones... Scale them,de-head them, gut them.....then batter them up with the beer batter recipe from google. place in frying pan until crispy....pretty easy if you like them. Saltwater fish you cant buy spoiled me.....

need legal info debate
"fishing for food is bogus?????" Why else would anyone keep the fish and clean them if they didnt like eating them????? : fish worshiper= form of tree hugger whether you like it or not. Reading some of the posts, i had to go back and check the web page to make sure I wasnt on a animal rights website..... Otherwise, these threads are hilarious.

Trout Fishing in Colorado
make sure you put single hooks on all treble hook lures if you are fishing and no bait in CnR areas. This time of year is good for coventional tackle in some places where there is runoff. Smaller rivers, fly tackle is hard to beat and the only way to fish for trout Imho....Co. fish are smart.... The Frying Pan and boulder creek, The Blue, are only ones I can name off top of my head that I fished last trip. The pan has some monsters but you will trip over them before you can get them to bite. 3lb flourcarbon leaders and size #26 dry flies were what it took to catch fish last time I was there. With spinning gear, if the water is low you will need light line, small natrual lures, flourocarbon leaders, and long cast. fishing at dawn/dusk will be better, as night fishing where its possible is much easier.

Gar Fishing Tips
There are some live bait set-ups that work well, your hook up ratio just isnt as good as a rope lure. Gar are hard to hook when you are trying to hook them.<br>Best and most fun way I have heard/found is using an 8wt flyrod using a 6-8ft straighten leader of Berkley big game with a homemade rope lure/fly. You can make a lighter lure by tying an 8 inch strip of white unraveled nylon rope to a heavy duty split ring. stripping in the line gives it an action, coventional equipment can't compete with. Got to have a decent reel with a smooth drag, or you will get hurt and gear will be trashed. Also keeping a 2x4 with a V cut into one end in the boat is good idea...can bring fish up beside the boat, hold it againest the hull and pull the rope free and the fish slides back in water.

Castaway Rods
Tackletour is a joke, as is the majority of so-called "inside information" on the web or in magazines..... the 2 years I have been looking at this site, I also noticed the name and wondered why the majority of the time, I read a post by him on about rods, he is praising loomis or like the others bragging about being able to afford them :-???? even when someone can only afford a cheaper rod. Questioning the remarks of Tenured members is obviously a no-no here unless you are one of them,Which I still dont think is a good reason for personal attacks by their groupies in other threads. :
