  3. Once agian, Old man has to show these young cats how to git R done!!...lol...
  4. I am with ya Catt, Baby brush Hogs are one of my go to baits. I've caught maybe a couple that I can remember with the standard size, but on the other hand, I've slaugthered them with the babies!! Green Pumkin has worked everywhere for me. Clear, dirty, or stained, GrnPumpkin always works.
  5. You are right, like I said earlier, I've had nothing but great success with big game mono leaders. I am starting to think that, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
  6. Thanks man, I was doing the knot wrong!
  7. Thanks, I've had excellent results with mono leaders, but I just want to experiment some. I purchased a spool of Seaguar Invsix, and was kinda disapointed with how it would break. I tied every knot possible and the line would always break when I sinched it down. I lubricated the line before tying, and did all the things I normally do when tying the mono leaders. Knots I used were: the Albrightknot, Uni-Uni knot, Seaguar knot, triple surgeon knot, and another one I learned last night that I can't recall the name. The line would break at the knot or just below the knot. I am I doing something wrong?
  8. Here is my question, is it better just to buy flourocarbon line and use it as a leader, or would I be better off buying leader material. I use Power Pro and have always tied it direct, but if I think I need a leader, I would simply tie on as a leader some Berkley Big Game Mono. I am slowly trying to dabble in flouro and need some sound advise. Is there a differece between Flouro leader and flourocarbon?
  9. Love the Veritas, I have five models which I are spooled with braid and have yet to break anything on those rods. The sensitivity is great, and the lightness of the rod is unreal.
  10. It happens to the best of us!!....lol..
  11. When we ship rods, we ship them in PVC pipe. We've never had a broken one sent back, knock on wood!
  12. I can't believe all of these reports of the Veritas rods breaking. I own almost every Veritas model, and all have braid except my crankbait rod which is not a Veritas. I've yet to break anything on those rods. Yes, I fish alot, so my rods get abused. Tournament, fun fishing, or pond hopping, these rods have served me very well. I work in a tackle/Guns/Archery store, and get to see many thing that come back broken. Especially rods. A Veritas has yet to come in broken that was due to "setting a hook on a fish". Many anglers step on thier rods and never truly know it. Some might think it didnt hurt, but it truly did inside. Then they cast or set the hook, and "Crack" and its supposed to be the rods fault. Me and our Shimano rep had a very long conversation once about rods breaking, he proceeded to inform me how Shimano rods are tested for spine, tip, strength, and other thing that I cannot remember. And let me tell you, I learned something that day. Yeah, you can say thats how Shimano does it, but there has to be standard set by every major rod manufacturer. So when a "joe" or weekend anglers says that he broke the rod on a cast, or a fish, most likley it was operator error somewhere down the line before of the day of destruction. Back to the OP, I have never throwed a ST. Croix, we have them in the store and seem very nice rods,(IMO) but are heavy when compared to the Veritas.
  13. 1. Dean's Fighting frog (Black Neon) 2. 3'' Senko Texas Rigged 3. Magnum Finesse Trick Worm 4. KVD 1.5 Sexy shad 5. Black and Blue Jigs In no particular order, they alll have caught a mess of fish for me this year so far.
  14. Were I live I've seen some big shellcrackers before, but goodnight!!!! That thing is huge!
  15. Thanks guy's, I am looking foward to trying out these new tactics I just learned!!
  16. If braid can striaghted out a hook, why not that small gauge wire.
  17. I am somewhat new to this swimjig thing. My question is, can a chatterbait swivel or whatever that metal piece that connects the blade to the string handle braid?
  18. Keep up the great work Mike!! Unlike other shows, I can actually relate to yours. Your show and a select others, are the only shows I bother watching. Its truly a pleasure to tune in and watch average people fishing and having a good time.
  19. There goes my savings!
  20. The only rod I have with mono is my crankbait set-up, everything else is braid. PowerPro and Suffix (in my opinion) are the best out there at the moment. As far as fishing with a leader, if I am not fishing near rocks, I dont care for leaders. As already stated, go down in rod action, when I made the transition years ago, I learned the hard way. I broke two flipping rods before I realized what I was doing wrong.
  21. Thanks for the help!!
