  1. Here is the video on how to tie super fast blood knots. Its so easy any one could tie them like a pro but the only downside with doing it this way is you cant really do different amounts of wraps for each line. The fact that the tags both come out of the same side makes no difference in the knot.
  2. They work great in open water for basically any moving bait. I use them for hollow body swim baits as it really lets them inhale it. I also like them for moving top waters like buzz frogs or even a buzz bait sometimes. Personally I think I use to miss some fish because they hit so hard sometimes and there is not enough give to let them hang onto it before you get that jarring hit and they also feel that and by then it's far to late. Plus you can really launch baits way out there with them so that is also a plus at times.
  3. That is how I feel about fishing things like senkos and stuff. I need to be pretty much constantly doing something. The whole approach of letting a bait sit for a minute or more at a time kills me. That is like a last resort for me and I have to be really desperate to catch something. I will say though I am not against doing it when I am targeting bigger fish since lots of times you almost have to. But I would almost rather catch nothing then sit and stich a jig or something for 1# fish.
  4. I tied a double uni for the longest time and it works fine. As for it failing it would happen eventually with any connection knot I would thnk. If you tie on a 6' leader and fish that same leader for a while and catch a ton of fish it is going to weaken it like any knot. Just cause you have 4' of leader left doesn't mean it is still good for another 2' . I have had them break eventually fishing plastics on the bottom and stuff. But that was my fault for not changing it over a long time and rocking hook sets on fish. Know I like to tie a blood knot a lot. It can be pretty tuff to tie but there is a trick to do it really easy but the only thing is it makes equal amounts of wraps that way. You can just look easy blood knot on you tube. The easy version is so quick and easy to tie and it is the thinnest connection knot I believe.

  6. Buy a diawa DX. There are cheap and I have not heard anything bad about them. The M/H is rated 1-6 but for you I guess I would get the heavy at 2-8. You say your only going to throw 2 oz baits but that wont last. I am sure the rod woll cast 2 oz far enough and could probably go lighter or you can always use your regular bass rods. Don't short your self on power. I would rather have more power then I think I needed then not have enough.
  7. Ya I dislocated my right shoulder getting silly on a 3 wheeler when I was younger. Joining the military and do physical work my whole life doesn't help either. I have neve had any surgery on it but I figure I probably will have to eventually. Once you dislocate it the chances of it popping back out again sometime are pretty much guaranteed. It sucks and I have had it pop out really quick in my sleep from rolling over of whatever. That will wake you up really quick!!
  8. I would be totally fine with paying less for reels just cause they weighed more. Tatulas weigh the same as a Tourney Speed Spool and those are the reels I have most. I kinda of actually like them to be a little heavier and have that solid feeling to them. It doesn't bother me at all and it actually weird when I use a really light rod and a light graphite/carbon fiber reel. They have there advantages though when using light rods and lures though. I heard if you eat some spinach you instantly become super strong and get massive forearms. That should help when using heavy equipment
  9. I just don't do the bearing in the knobs any more. I just did it that one day cause I realized I never have before so I wanted to just to see. As long as my knobs spin and don't feel rough or gritty or something I could care less. It doesn't make the reel any smoother to me. After I flushed and oiled those knobs I could hardly touch them and they would spin for like a minute. I could feel in in my other hand starting to make torque from it spinning so fast and it was just weird. Stupid physics will get ya.
  10. What model are you talking about? I think all the rod are called speed stick from there cheapest to most expensive. I have a HM85 speed stick 1-4 oz that I use for small swimbaits. It is a quality rod and is way more sensitive then I expected for a rod with that rating. I am sure its even better when you get into the standard sizes. They are a good rod and I have beaten that rod up pretty decently carrying it through the woods and crap trying to find places no one has really been. One thing though the guides are like semi-micro and they ice up easier on me because of it and if I run like braid with a leader it doesn't leave much room for the connection knot.
  11. Shimano makes a pair I really like. They are basically needle nose but the tip is not like normal split ring pliers with the wedge on the end. These ones like actually hold the split ring and not just split it. I think they were like $10 or something. I also use them as my normal pliers for removing hook and they have a bend in them I like for opening the ring or removing hooks. Walmart sells some KVD pliers for like $8? I think. They are really good cutters also.
  12. Crucial Can't speak for the new ones though. The older 7'2" M/H is my favorite rod
  13. I would like to think the Great Lakes have a record somewhere for pretty much any species that swim in there. They are just so massive who really knows. Without a doubt there is more record smallies out there. They are just so big how do you know. It's like fishing a lake from the bank and never moving. You just can't cover that kind of water. It probably pays to be lucky more then good.
  14. I agree it is part of the solution. I also understand why the NAVY released it publicly since It is kind of hard to be anon when your the only one. The problem it created was now people can do all sorts of illegal activities that were never possible on the clear net.
  15. There really is not anything you can do stop a group of skilled hackers. The best thing you can do is to hire these "criminals" to work for you and fix the flaws they find. There are cases of people who break in but only to inform the company of the issue so they can fix it. Then sometimes they prosecute the person who exposed the flaws in there system. It's kind of a blurry line in my eyes. They are not malicious hackers and really are only trying to help but not everyone takes the info kindly. It is bad to business to let the public know how often a company is breached so you will never know how common it really is. It is the downfall of the digital age. TOR was a excellent idea but giving it to the public backfired on the government.
  16. Even tracking hackers "a skilled one" is almost impossible. If they don't want to be found they won't be. It sucks to say but it's true. Even if you did locate the source if it is from a place like Russia or China or even Korea you can chalk that one up. That's is where most of the hacking originates from. China alone has so many hackers working for the government it's insane. They back the whole world. Russia is more groups that work together and do things like what what happened to Simms. Lots of carding rings and identity theft. Although they are not above selling classified materials.
  17. This right here ^ I had a Lews that did that on occasion. I don't have that reel any more but I would just smack the side plate and it would engage again. I know it not a real fix but it only ever happened a handful of times in the course of like 2 years.
  18. No one allows there systems to be hacked. Nothing is hack free and any network can be hacked. Even the DOD is hacked and it happens every single day. All countries are hacked and in the scope of things some petty company's network is a joke in the grand scheme of things. There is no way to stop it because you can't block doors ou don't know exist. All protection is catch up and the protocols that are put in place are based on previous ways networks have been breached. It is similar to how a virus works. You can't add the virus to the protection list till someone get infected first. It is very hard to stop what doesn't yet exist. It is much more complicated then that but I tried to explain in a way that is easily understandable. In the end it is impossible to stop breaches of networks and if someone really wants the info and they are skilled you will not stop them.
  19. Big ziplocks with smaller ones inside.
  20. That would be a gray hat you are looking for. Also it is highly doubtful the perpetrators would ever be caught. It is also a very good idea to just transfer funds to a account to purchase online. On a side note what should be illegal is company's that release drive by malware and then have a program for you to buy that will remove it. It is not even like they hide a about it. They release the virus/malware and make a program that will supposedly remove it and also give tons of false positives about stuff that is not really on your computer.
  21. So did he actually have a physical tackle box? Or is that just a generalization? lol I am generally not worried about someone with a tacklebox as from experience generally they are not great. Now someone with a book bag or tackle bag and a handful of rods.
  22. The WD stands for water displacement and the 40 is because it was the 40th attempt at making it. It was designed to prevent missiles from rusting if I remember right.
  23. It might be nice to have the old ones from a collector stand point but I wouldn't fish with them. Generally I could care less about what a reel weighs but boy are those reels heavy. They were made from actual steel and are super heavy.
