  1. A guy from work gave me a brand new in the box Trion spinning reel size 30. Any way I brought it home and put on 20# braid and put it on a Fenwick HMG 7' M/H. I had planned to use it for fishing small stuff in pretty heavy grass and being able to rip it free because of the rod. I don't know what it is with it but I get crazy wind knots. I ended up putting some 8# Yo Zuri I had lying around on it. I have not had a issue with the Yo Zuri since I changed the line and I even tried to make it get twist by fishing for a good while with no swivel on baits that would cause twist. I have used super crappy spinning reels before with braid and never used a swivel and they are fine. I know its not a super great reel but I have never had trouble with Presidents. Maybe it is a bad reel? I don't know.

  3. I am not sure anyone else said but it caught or maybe it tied the world record LMB. As everyone else stated though it is hand made and takes time to make. You get what you pay for though.
  4. My sub box on YouTube is just bombarded with so many ICAST videos I decided to look through them. I am pretty interested in that Berkley coply line. The abrasion demo they did was cool. There is also a company I forget the name but they make head with a patented toothp
  5. It's not the hook. The nose on shadilicious is pure garbage. Sorry Big-O if that was a bait you worked on. You either have to use a normal weighted hook with no lock or... Get a knife or something similar and heat it up with a lighter and then stick it in the nose and melt it. It's is totally hollow all the way and there is nothing for a twist lock to hold onto unless you melt it. If your looking for a great hollow belly I would check out basstrix. They are super durable as far as hollow bellies go and and I think are the original hollow belly. I would maybe fish shadilicious if I didn't have to modify baits out the pack. It's a huge issue IMO and I can't believe they haven't started pouring a solid nose. Good Luck
  6. PB 1/4oz black and blue jig with a black and blue rage craw trailer. It was soooo cold out I was about to call it a day. My hands were absolutely freezing. My best this year has been on either a s-waver or deps ss I don't remember really
  7. They will eat worms and hotdogs and that's all basically dead. When using live bait though I have never really had success after it dies and am more likely to hook a cat. You can only cast that bluegill so many times before it dies from shock. I can always tell when a fish is about to eat it though because it freaks out and try's running.
  8. Where do you get over half a mile of Trilene for $12?
  9. If I am not mistaken Shimano has the best warranty on rods in the biz. I have yet to need to use it but its always nice to be able to get a new rod no questions asked. Well I guess unless you try at BPS.
  10. I don't know where you get your line or what you use but.... If your getting 1175 yards of mono for $12 it's junk. Time to switch it up and buy some better line. Also you can fish that same spool of braid for years.
  11. For me they are more of a spinning rod deal usually. As for casting them on a swim bait rod it should be no prob. Actually easier maybe then say a average M/H. I have thrown them on a sim bait rod and can really bomb them with it. It might be a good idea to throw them with a split shot also. Helps with casting and let's it get down a bit deeper. Also as bluebasser I think said they work great on the fall. I have had great days using them as a pitching bait.
  12. So I picked one up a few weeks ago at DSG and finally got around to throwing it today. Prefrontal conditions and slightly overcast so I started throwing a pad crasher. Caught tons of fish on it but only had a couple actually blow up on it. They were mostly just sucking it down and in turn I think I missed quite a few cause of it and it doesn't help I have not really thrown a frog this year. I switched to the GYCB Spook and every fish just hammered it. I had more then a couple actually knock it up out of the water a foot or two in the air. Casting this things is fairly heavy and casts farther then you really want to work a spook if you know what I mean. Rattles it has multiple in it and it sounds like there is 1 big one and 2 or 3 smaller ones but it is fairly quiet. The rattles don't have much room to move back and forth and it makes it somewhat subtle. On the other hand my favorite a 1 knocker I can hear all the way across the lake as I walk it back to me. Hooks are plenty sharp and I am not certain but assume they are Gamakatsu. I know some people dislike them but I have no issue with them. They are sharp enough to stick me in the hand more then once today and draw a little blood. Finish is top notch and there really is not much more I could ask for really. It is easily on par with many of the other finishes that are on much more expensive lures. Walking it does this like a champ. Very easy to walk at any speed and has a glide that is about the same as a spook. It also walks perfectly even with your line being caught up underneath vegetation. Price I think I got it for about $6 and for what you get out of it including the amazing finish I think it is pretty hard to beat. This is definitely a lure worth looking I should of fished it sooner and plan to use it quite a bit more in the future. I don't really know what else you can really prove on except maybe a wider glide or a silent or louder 1 knocker version. Also it would be nice if company's made a top hook version of lures like this. I guess this sort of turned into a review somewhat unexpectedly but for what it costs like $6 and the sheer quality of this bait this is not one to sleep on and worth giving it a shot.
  13. I have quite a few of them. They catch fish and you can get giant baits for under $20. I never caught a musky with one though
  14. You don't "need" the giants ones to get into glide baits. I catch a lot of fish on the smaller ones like a DEPS 175 sk converted to a ss or the Gan Craft 178. I will say though there is a difference in performance between those and the DEPS 250 and Gan Craft Jointed Claw but as long as your have a decent swimbaits setup already you can get your foot in the door for like $60 with the smaller 6-8" baits.
  15. Roman Made Mother It's just soooo much $ Roman Made Negotiator "Custom" They just don't exist to be had. In all fairness I kind of gave up looking for a negotiator custom a while ago but there might be some out there now. There was a few to be had but I was not paying 2x the price so let them pass. I just throw the DEPS now but still wouldn't mind having a negotiator to play with. There is also some real older Castica swimbaits that would be cool to have and I guess are real top notch big fish magnets.
  16. There is just no need to laugh at someone and make it seem like they are weak or some inferior kind of person for a statement they made. That is all.
  17. I don't know why you people are poking fun at getting fatigued. That is a real issue and depending on what your doing or how hard your are fishing really can wear on you. Throw big swimbaits all day long and tell me you don't notice it wearing on you. Or spend a whole day throwing spooks and try pretend like you didn't develop a mean case of carpaltunel over night from snapping your wrist 5000x in one day. The line and rod use with a given bait will also wear on you. Throw some chatterbaits or a crank with high vibration on braid all day and you will notice it. Having a combo that is not properly balanced will take a tole on you while you might not even notice it. Then go fish a perfectly balanced setup and everything feels so much easier and more fluid.
  18. There is so many options out there and tons of people ask this question on here. Really though a good indicator of what swimbaits to buy should be what have you heard about the most? Sure there are some sleeper baits but of you don't know stick with the famous and well proven baits. As for your BBZ I have had waaaayyyyy better results throwing floaters compared to the sinking versions. Just buy a couple baits you know are legendary and spend some time throwing them to get a feel for it and then decide if you want to take your addiction further and drain your bank account buying the most expensive baits in bass fishing.
  19. Huds, Punkers, Ospreys, Savage Gear Real Trout and Line Through, S-Waver, Deps 175, Gan Craft 178, Jerry Ragos, Matt Lures, Spro BBZ's. Those are all top notch and proven baits and they are baits I use personally. I could keep going naming off baits in my boxes but that should cover anything you really need. Pick your poison and decide what you really want to spend. Good Luck
  20. Exactly what I was going to recommend. I use to fish these a ton when I was very little. They will catch the littlest to the biggest fish. I have had 5#ers on those little things.
  21. I really think what diawa has going on right now for a braking system is the best I have ever used. It works so perfectly. If you take your side plate off and look at it or just think about it they totally make perfect sense why it is superior.
  22. I use twist locks for almost everything. I will use normal off set hook not ewg on flukes when I need as little weight as possible. I wan it to keep sticking its nose up out of the water and twitch it really fast. It becomes a subsurface/top water and kills the fish. It's super good working it like that over grass that's up to the surface.
  23. I put some work in on the fish a couple weeks ago throwing pad crashers. As for bending the hooks on the spro frogs they are pretty heavy duty. Needlenose might not be up to the task. You would be better of using a pair of linemans or something along those lines. Spro are the only frogs I ever bent out. I use koppers now a days and they are plenty soft so there is no issue. The pad crashers are basically a rip off of the koppers they feel exactly the same.

The best I have ever used personally were Strike King ones I think. They have a little end on the weight side that pops down in the hole and makes it hold really well. They are really really expensive though as far as stops are concerned. Personally I just buy those packs or red and black eagle claw. They are cheap and easily obtained.
  25. Ya my rib its last for ever... They also have a smaller profile and I think it is easier for the fish to get the whole thing. They weigh less then SK but cast way better I think.
