How Many Lures Do You Have?
I have more then enough and have and still give stuff away. I have never been one to also need 9 colors of the same exact crankbait. I am not very interested in "normal" lures anymore really. I have more then enough of those and I know what works. Anything new I get now usually costs a bunch so it is not a bag or box full of stuff at a time. Not being able to find a lure or being on some kind of list along with the price tag also slows down to process.

Sandiego Jam Knot
Really? It seems almost impossible to mess up. It always seems to end up fine every time. I tried it with braid just to see and that was the only reason time it gave me trouble.

What Line Are You Using???
I don't think you can really use a palomar on fluoro. It crosses it self all up and makes the knot break. I know sdj is very good for fluoro and I am sure improved clinch would work also.

Swimbait, (Jighead Or Weighted Hook)
Almost always a weighted hook. But I also almost always fish lots of grass. That's just where the fish live for me. If I do use a jig head it is on a solid swimbait like a Keitech. They don't hold good IMO on a hollow one even though lots of people do it. I do use jig heads on hollow ones but it is totally inside the swimbait and is weedless and not exposed. Size depends on the size of the swimbait but I would guess 4 or 5 is a general size. I actually don't pay attention to what size a hook was. I just know visually what size I want

Flushing A Baitcaster
It is not really hard. You don't need some kind of degree to take aparta fishing reel. If you are somewhat mechanically inclined it should not be a issue. I would say at some point everyone learn to take apart and do at the minimum some minor service on there stuff. You just don't have replacement parts at hand like a shop would. All low pro reels are built along the same concept and are only slightly different like there drag stacks or the drag star might be spring loaded.

Sandiego Jam Knot
That totally could be that he tied it bad and I told him he did. But it happened again and he was like knot paranoid after the first time. He wanted me to tie for him or check all his knots in fear of casting off a $50 bill. I told him he was a big boy and could handle it. After all that I looked it up and although rare it seems. I guess people have tied it and it checks good but somehow all of a sudden slips and pulls out. I am digging on the sdj better any ways. It's new to me and I haven't tied it a million times so I like that.@RW I know a of guy use a palomar even when throwing a giant bait with 30# line. Probably 90% use a sdj or improved clinch though. Palomar will always be my braid knot.

Fishing Leaders On Spinning Reels
Almost all my spinning have braid 20 or 30# and the UL is 10 I think. I use a copoly line for my leaders. Most all my spools of line any more are some copoly. As for connections I use to use uni to uni but over time it weakens or digs in to each other I think. I use Albright knot now and it is much better. Very often I use a small swivel so leaders are only 18"-2'. With no swivel I will pull out a arms length so they are 6'.

Anyone Use A Plano 3607-04 Spinner Bait Tray?
I don't know about the one about the topic but I had the one Felix posted or similar ones. I used them at first but now I use a cd book. I like it so much more then the boxes. They are almost obsolete now any ways and its a good way to reuse them.

Falcon Bucoo Micro - Opinions?
I am probably who you are speaking of about finding one for $30. It's not a bad rod although I have not put a lot of time into it. It's really light when compared to other rods I own. One issue I have noticed is the piece that hold the guides. That's sounds stupid but I can't think of it right now. Is easily bent and just thin metal. I had a bent guide after looking at it from carrying a couple rods together. I am sure it is pretty sensitive just based by how light it is but I have not used it really with any application that requires sensitivity. That's all I can really say since I have not used it much. I did not even need it really to begin with. But any rod that costs $100+ that I can get for $30 I am pretty sure I need no matter what it is. So that's how that went.

Making Your Own Weighted Hooks
I should check out those weights. Only recently did it finally occur to me that I can wrap some suspend strips around a hook and it has worked amazing. You can add just the littlest bit that way also. Has worked well for buzzfrogs. I just want a little weight on the hook the keep it always landing upright and staying that way.

Frog Frustration
Good luck with a trailer hook on that rage toad. Unless its totally open water its going to grab something when it is upside down and a lot of times as soon as it lands. For the floating stanley frogs. The Top Toads could be awesome but it never seems to work well. First off the right hook even when I use what is recommended just is not right. It is a 5 or 6 and I even have them in the double take's and it doesn't seem correct. Hookups are also seemed few and far between with how it is designed. What made then run the best for me though was not having the hook completely wrap around the back and be totally on the outside. I just used a single and came through the hole in the butt and up out the top and then bend it out a bit so its not pressing up super tight against the body. I hooked way more fish after that.

Where Do You Do Your Best?
Most my fish are caught fishing 3-5' below the surface. Probably 75% have been caught on some kind of glide bait or big top water. The rest is random hudds or orther soft baits slowly along the bottom. Although I have caught tons only fishing about 1' or almost at a wake. Most places are shallow and run about 10'-12' as being the deeper water. If you were to try and fish deep like 20' or something it would only be a tiny little spot of the whole place that reaches that. There are exception like a lake that was 2 quarries that were flooded to join and gets like 50' but only in a small area. That place is also mostly about 10' but tons of shore that is 2'-3' and that extends in pretty good cause it is such a gentle slope.

Clear Vs Stained Water
Lots of places I fish are very clear. They are also loaded with weeds. They go hand in hand though since the weeds filter it and make the water super clear.

Where Have You?
My PB was caught on a black and blue jig with a trailer of some kind. I don't even remember but I am pretty sure it was a hack attack jig. It was right next to a over flow drain and in about 5 or 6 FOW. It was late Feb or early March and insanely cold. I had to keep switching hands to hold my rod and casting was unbearable with wet braided line. Having your guides ice over also blows. I was actually right about to call it and then picked up slowly and the rod was heavy.

Is This A Good Topwater Bait?
I was going to recommend a lure I had forever and never used till recently. It is a sebile and there version of a spook. I can't even find them on TW and i don't remember what it written on top of it. It has worked pretty good for me and what it does that others don't is actually glide under the water a bit when it walks. It is great for something different. Maybe I have had it so long with out using it they don't even make it any more. Even so it has done me well in the times I have used it.

Lews And Okuma Warranties
I do not know about the okuma but I have a hm85. It is not the rod you are looking at i'm sure but is the 7'9" H swimbait rod. I got it on the cheap but it is actually a ridiculously sensitive rod. It is very light for its size and pretty stout. It has the weird full grip only trigger and I was not impressed originally but now I don't even notice and like it. I do not know about warranty on rods but any time I had dealings with them about a reel there was no issue. I never even fill out the little warranty cards and its no problem. I have even talked to the main service guy who names I don't remember quite a few times. I had a issue once that was not resolved and when it was taken care of he even wrote me out a hand written letter.

Light Bait Casting Reel
I have no issue casting 1/4 oz on a tatula. A KVD 1.5 you can bomb pretty good on anything I would say. The choice of line and rod also make a difference but I don't think there is much I could not cast on a tatula with in reason.

Puzzled Ponds
I am sure the trout fishermen make a difference. If you compare it to like a local park pond. Almost everyone that goes there will use worms or something of that sort and are trying to catch catfish or some sort of pan fish. Those places can be very hard to get bit at. If it is big enough and you can somehow get away from those areas they fish and off to your self far away you probably stand a better chance.

Can I Fish Here?
This really is the truth on a place like that ^^ Keep to your self don't be some kind of eyesore and don' t leave a mess. Chances are no one really cares and if they did say something don't make a deal out of it and be polite and just leave. Ya it is "illegal" being as its private property but all property is private property i suppose in a sense. No one is going to call the police and try to outright get you arrested for being there. I suppose it could happen but you have a better chance of catching a DD out of there. I have fished many places like this and its usually a non issue and most people could care less. I know I should not encourage it but that is your best bet. I would not make a habit of fishing it 5x a week though.

Should Your Guide Be Fishing?
That is so true for just about anything. I doubt I would care much if they fished. I would have a problem though if we were trolling along or something and they guy is snaking all the prime spots first. I would not be much of a fan if he was doing that. Even if it was for some kind of pattern.

Lure Weight?
You can go way past a rods rating and still throw a bait out there. That is fine and all but what is really important "I think" is can it handle the bait after. Does what it takes to handle the resistance of it? Even more so when it comes down to it will it have enough power to actually move the bait after a bite and be able to actually penetrate the hook? I would say a 6" hudd on a M/H is a perfect example of this. I could throw it all day on a M/H even though its not great but doable. I highly doubt I would have what it take to convert on many bites. I tried long ago and came to realize its not casting it that was the problem it was the power you need after that is really important.

Sandiego Jam Knot
Ya I have also used palomar for a long time and that is my braid knot. The only problem is that when tying a 8"+ bait with treble hooks and 20#+ line it is not so great any more. It can also dig into itself and weaken the knot. That is not so much a problem with braid but is not something I want to risk no matter how slight it might happen. Those big lure are not so cheap. In some cases are very hard if not d**n near impossible to replace if something happens to it.

Save Money On Plastics
I don't use senkos really but I did like the BPS ones and they come in a big bag and are durable. It is a really nice bag that is heavy duty also for reuse. I would use it to throw a few baits in and take a walk down a bank treble hooks included with no prob. As for Big Bite I have caught tons of fish with there ringed brush hog type baits. They don't really last to long though but are only $1 for a bag.

Looking For Good Beginner Casting Reels
Well I would still say Diawa and I have used quite a few brands but not as many as some on here. I would say another good bet is always Shimano or Lew's. I do not own any Shimano any more except a spinning reel but i do quite a few Lew's and they are very popular reels. They were at one point my favorite and that is why most my reels are Lew's but I think Diawa is better. There braking system is probably the best out and there. They are also just a tight feeling reel if you know what I mean. I think they have some really high tolerance on them and it seems to show. They have the Zillions on sale on TW right now also. There is also places you can get JDM models from but they are used ever slightly and lots of times have upgrades that were done. I have wanted to get a TD ITO Megabass from one for a while. They just look so awesome without considering its a great reel.

Guide, Charge Or Comp That Is The Question!
Some of the charter though out on Erie are on point all the time. Lots of guys including me or whoever we are out with will just get on the radio and ask them. They are out every day all day and know where fish are. The Linda Mae is a great example of this when it comes to perch. But I would never pay the $40 or whatever to fish a pontoon boat with 30 people on it for some perch. I think that boat launches from Wild Wood if i remember.
