Me and my dad both have pfd's and we will bring them just in case. Also, i have a question about tackle. I know we bring our own rods and reels but what is acceptable bait wise. A couple of trays in a tacklebag or bring lots and let they boater decide when you get there. And since my dad is there I will have permission as I am under 18(I am 17).

buy that energy immediately, it is a great reel that is high end and you won't get anything at even close to that price that is as good as the quantum. try a field and stream tech spec for 59.99 they are good graphite and great for the money.

for the reel you are getting next year, i would recommend a shimano curado 201e7 if you can still find one. i got mine off of ebay brand new for 140$. also, watch out for those smallmouth, they do have mighty sharp teeth. and by the way, i am not a "shimano guy" i just like the curado.

has anyone been catching much in northern virginia lately. i caught one around four pounds the other day but nothing else. does anyone know a good place to fish right now? is anyone fishing the potomac yet? occoquan? let me know

i was out yesterday night and i caught a 4 pounder on a 3" damiki hydra on a 1/4 ounce chartreuse jighead. i don't have a picture of it but it was a nice fish. i am just hoping that the weather gets a bit warmer and the fish start biting a bit more. i fished for about 2 1/2 hours before i even got a bite. has anyone been catching much in northern va? let me know
