Bring a milk crate with ya and stand on it while you're taking a dog for a walk, then when the bite shuts down you can use it to sit on while you work a jig slowly...LOL

Not a dumb question at all. IMHO, shorter rods are the way to go with topwater plugs...longer for buzzbaits...you will find more control with a shorter rod and less stress on your wrist. The lure is weighted in the back of the lure so you won't really compromise casting distance or noticable distince. I mostly fish from the bank and I use a 6' rod without problems. I used to use a 5'6 until I snapped it. Try finding a 5'6 baitcasting rod these days...LOL

Check the clevis, the piece the blade hangs on, and see if it was bent in or out. I've had this happen a few times while coming thru cover and the blade would foul up. Just rebend and your good to go.

IDK, ripping a trap thru vegetation is a pretty darn good technique and a spinnerbait and wood...well, that just has a good ring to it. May I suggest something: Work some overtime and get both...LOL

It's the only time I use uncle josh pork. I think that bass will bite down on a pork trailer and will hold onto it longer giving you a little edge in cold water.

I think of guide wraps as accomplishing 2 things: 1. The thread provides color and decoration to the rod. 2. The thread provides reinforcement to the epoxy. So in the case of providing reinforcement, I tie the guide just tight enough so that I can go back and make any minor tweeks to the guide should I find that it has become out of alignment...So pretty much what Tony M describes. Decorative: I've only done 1 and found that I used pretty much the same tension. Good Luck!

I've tried it for the first time this year and really liked it. It does have some stretch to it, but like others have stated it is strong and abrasion resistant and for the money it's well worth it. I just picked up some more @ Dicks, same price but it was in the overstocked bin for an additional 50% off...$1.98.

Sounds like the hook is the right size, generally spooks use a #2 treble so anything smaller would be fine, bigger not so good. What size line are you using and how do you tie on - direct or with a snap or split ring? Line that's too thin will bring the nose down and heavy snaps and split rings will do the same. On the cast, let the lure hang down about 12" and in one fluid motion bring the lure back and cast forward. The lure should vortex out without tumbling over causing the front hook to grab the line.
