  1. My wife has caught 2 clams over the past 2 years. One on a crankbait, the other on a dropshot! ;D That's too funny, but I have to ask: How did she catch a clam on a drop shot? Suspended clam? LOL
  2. That's awesome. Looks like you got a new fishing partner.
  3. Like evrgladesbasser said, describe the conditions and maybe we can help you?
  4. NICE! There is nothing like a topwater bite. I've been having a lot of fun the last 2-3 weeks with dog walking lures. The conditions here have been unbelievable for it. I couldn't let that opportunity go by! Congrats on your trip! Looks & sounds like you had a lot of fun out there.
  5. No, but that's funny! Closest thing that latch on to my lure was a clam...LOL. Actually it was yesterday. I made a cast and the wind caught my spinnerbait in midflight causing a "professional overrun". When I got untangled, I started reeling in. The lure felt really heaving so I thought I just had some salad on it. Come to find out, I had a clam locked on it.
  6. WOW, that's a lot of fish you guys caught! Great pics of the lake. The only other time I saw that lake was on a Rowland Martin show...LOL Congrats on your day!
  7. That's AWESOME! Way to go Unc!
  8. WOW! All great ideas and information here. Again, thanks for your input guys!
  9. I try and pick up as much as I can and throw it away, but what's taking the cake for me is the used diapers at spots on the otherside of the beach area! I refuse to pick them up! I have 2 kids of my own that are now older. Been there done that. Yes, it's gotten worse than I can remember.
  10. Jigfishn10 is nothing more than a rededication to fishing jigs this year. My original PB's (LMB & SMB) were caught on a jig back in the late 90's and for some reason I stopped fishing them. This year I decided to go back to them. Just before I joined BR, I caught my new PB LMB on one that I had made. Sorry, not very original.
  11. I know what you're talking about, wuss, I was one as well the last time I went tuna fishing. The best part of that trip was catching all the fish and feeling worn out afterwards. The worst part of that trip was listening to the news on the radio the whole day...September 11, 2001. :'( That was the last time I took a charter out tuna fishing.
  12. I think there was a thread in the Fishing Tackle Forum recently about the same topic and question. Check it out. If I remember correctly, there were some great tips and techniques in there.
  13. Very nice looking lure! Looks like it has a lot of action to it.
  14. If my dog isn't catching or producing boils on the surface, I'll use a spiinerbait just under the surface. If that fails, I'll slow roll the spinnerbait along the bottom. If that fails the jig gets the nod.
  15. IMHO you did the right thing. It's funny that this topic came up: The other day I was walking the dog at my local pond and caught a LMB. When I got her in I found a worm hook caught deep in her mouth. I was able to thread out the worm hook...although I had to go thru the gill plate with my pliers to get at it...set her back in the water and she splashed me with her tail while swimming away. That's gratitude for ya, but she was healthy.
  16. WOW! Nice crappie you got there! Sounds like you had a ton of fun.
  17. Look great BIG M! You do really nice work.
  18. WOW! What a great day you had. I've had some days where I got quantity numbers, but not nearly THAT MUCH! Congrats...Go rest up and do it again!
  19. That was awesome! Kind of like figure eighting for Muskie.
  20. X2...The topwater bite has been awesome over grass during this time.
  21. You maybe setting the hook too much. Those in-line spinners have small treble hooks and you maybe ripping the fish's mouth a little allowing the hook to come free on the jump. If you feel the fish coming to the surface, put your rod tip down towards or into the water while keeping pressure on him....JMHO
  22. I've had success with drop shot rigged grubs, spinnerbaits with painted blades, any color blade, just make sure it's chartreuse and believe it or not, if the bite is really bad then I went to a #3 in-line spinner. Hope this helps.
  23. The latest I fished here in MA was Dec 13th and that was last year. I have never fished in Dec in all my life! Must be global warming. A week later we got a nor'easter and my snowblower decided to take the day off! >
  24. That must have been an awesome feeling! Hope you have more days like that!
  25. I use it early & late seasons and I think I use them only because If a bass don't hit then maybe I have a chance with trout. As far as pros: I was reading an article in Field and Stream (I think it was) and the author interviewed Ike and Ike mentions how he uses them when the bite is really tough in tourneys. I still have the article, I can dig it up and scan it in PDF file if you want to read it.
