How About A Br Fantasy Football League?
I'd like to have at least 12 teams and a non-auction draft. We have a bit of time to get a draft day/time set up.

Sometimes Big Smallies Are Really Ugly.
Just a tick over 5lbs. Just goreged with perch.

Stocking Private Pond
I'd stock Crappie ASAP and then next spring throw in some Bass. Gives the pond a chance to firmly establish a forage base for the Bass. 50x50 isn't all that big though so keep that in mind.

Shimano Reel Handles
Those don't work on most Shimanos (including the above). I have one on my Psuedo-tuned C3 5501 swimbait reel. I tried to put it on my other reels and the hole in the handle is too bigs.

Favorite G-Man Jigs? (Siebert Outdoors)
I have a 1/2oz Football with black and a touch of pink and white in the skirt. I call it 16 and Pregnant. Smallies crush this thing. I've been using his Grass Jigs as Swim Jigs, Blue head with green and blue skirt.

Push Poles?
I was going to say that I have used an old Pool Skimmer pole and I have uses the handles to roof rakes, but that Avery Pole is only like $30 (plus tips) and a waaaaaaay better design!

Ultralight Spinning Reel Recommendation
Most any 500 sized Shimano for me. I went 17 years on a 500 TX, caught a 5.25lb Smallie and a 6lb LM on it. I only replaced it when the bail spring went 2 years ago. I figured I got my $$$ from it and upgraded to a Sedona 500 new from ebay for $40.

Skeet Reese, Abu Garcia Veritas, Or Carrot Stix
I've owned and fished with all three. Best feeling/fishing rod is the Carrot Stick Wild. Problem which was a deal breaker for me was the hook hanger location. If you have big hands or fish trebles it hurts... If you are ok with snipping it off and getting a Fuji hanger then go for it. Veritas are light but fragile and I didn't find it as sensitive as the Wild. Skeet rods have QC issues. EVERY one at my DSG has bent blanks, bent guides, offset guides or tips. Not very sensitive at all. $100+/- is your budget? Lamiglas Excel, Shimano Compre or close out Crucials (at american legacy fishing company). WAAAAAAAAAAY better rods.

If You Could Be Sponsored By Any 7 Companies...
1 Bass Cat 2 Shimano/PowerPro 3 Rapala 4 Spro 5 Yamamoto 6 Gammy 7 Whiskey River Baits That should cover most everything.

New Rod Advice
The Lamiglas Excel is pretty sick! I have a "703" with a 30 sized Pflueger Supreme XT. Guys in my club, including FLW winners and Pro-Staffers for other rod companies, always grab this set up and comment how nice it feels. Clearance Shimano Crucials are out there for just under $100. Cabelas has Compres, Carrot Stix and their own XLM's all on sale for $99 and less.

Hummingbird Or Power Pole Purchase
Power Poles/Talons are great for leaning on in choppy water when you need to relieve yourself. One Power Pole and an 898? I fish really windy Lake Champlain and the Power Pole is really helpful flipping beds and working the shallows for sure. I've been out on days when a 101lb TM will not keep us from getting blown over a weed bed we wanted to work. Up here SI electronics help find where melt runoff debries settles (trees, oil tanks, etc.) since these things get shifted year after year. However for the most part a good standard unit with GPS is just as helpful, gets you to your spot, you can see what's below you, and you have the topo/contour map you can find the humps/ledges, etc. This is just what I would do.

Lures For Strong Current
Congrats on the new little buddy!

Lures For Strong Current
Are you able to change your angle of attack? What I mean is are you stuck having to stand in basically one spot and work the bait back in one direction or can you repostion (work up/down/across the current?). I would always try to work across or up (retrieving with) the current, it allows you to get deeper and is more natural as not many little things (Bass food) in a river work against a strong current... Try T-rigged plastics with nail weights also added to the body behind the hool. This should keep the plastic from just flapping around once it gets to the bottom. Try a Football head with a soft swimbait on the bottom so it looks like a chub or sculpin (think of them as river Gobies).

Northeast Topwater Tourney
It's been HOT and Bright up here. The TW bite is tough this year for sure, when they are active they aren't fully commiting to the hits. Hopefully it will get better.

Keitech Swing Impact Fat
http://www.***.com/Sworming_Hornet_Sling_Blade_Flutter/descpage-SHSF.html I've done well with these (4.8" with 3/8oz hook).

Hurrah Havoc!!!
I used the Spear yesterday rigged sideways with a slit cut in the tail and mounted on a Scrounger head. (similar to what Ike had in his video referred to above). GREAT action I got a few hits but went back to Flipping a Pit Boss with a rattle (this thing is insane!).

Best Lure For Thick Cover
Ok so how many of us just turned our laptops on their side? To be helpful, I fish a similar pond, T-Rigged Beaver Type baits, Fat Ikas, and Flukes work for me when it gets scummy and hot.
-
Hurrah Havoc!!!
I'm the same as you. I've had the best luck T-Rigging them with a 3/8 weight using a offset worm hook (not EWG). I've been fishing them by popping/exaggerated jigging motion pretty darn fast. I found this by realizing I'm catching more fish with my errant flips and burning it back to the boat than I was actually flipping them. Inserted a glass rattle into one and it was unbelievable, cast... WHACK! cast... BOOM! The Ocachobee (however that's spelled) and green with the pinkish belly are my 2 favorites.
