  1. That place is a secret, we don't want out... lol
  2. Go all in, Champlain... Anchorage Cottages on South Hero, VT (owned by a Bass fisherman), clear water, good temps, Smallies on top of Smallies. Montreal is an hour or so North, 25 mins to Burlington VT (Think Boulder Co, Asheville NC, Portland Ore). Most dangerous thing in the lake might be a golden retriever that is a little aggressive towards tennis balls. WORLD class beers, great wines, great food, concerts all over. Look at Vermont's mountains at sunset and truly understand "Purple Mountain Majesty". There's a COSTA up here too that week next year. I know it's a drive, we did it this Jan/Feb, but it's worth it
  3. For me and I would assume many northern guys... The wind... wind knots and the wind catching the braid is a huge pain when fishing a drop shot or shaky head. The wind simply does not catch and drag Flouro or Mono like it does braid. I do the Aaron Martins type leader, 30ft of 7 or 8lb Flouro then braid, I'll replace once the leader gets to about 12ft. I agree that the line visibility issue is more often than not overblown. The guy that just won the BASS Open on Champlain is a good buddy of mine, his drop shot set up is a Shakespheare rod with straight braid... It's all about confidence.
  4. Cleaning will get the distance. Spool and brake profile will help too. If it's silver stuff you want then go with hedgehog studios or any number of sellers on Alibaba or ebay.
  5. There's the "I want a Ferrari" mentality with reel upgrades, and if you've got the coin and desire go for it. I've got tuned Daiwas and all the good stuff myself. However a pair of Boca Abec 5s is 99% as good as the Jdm bearings and all the other bearing voodoo. Use cheaper Ebay bearings on things like drive shaft and worm gears (the don't spin fast enough to gain anything by using super bearings). Clean the reel deeply and lightly lube it. The drags on tatulas and fuegos is fine as is, but a smooth drag is like $8. Colored chi chi's well that's just for fun... PS I'll take the purple off your hands when the time comes.
  6. Did ice fishermen get in there thick this winter? I've seen good ponds/sections of the lake get destroyed because the sunnies were nearly wiped out. It'll come back, but the food base was really jacked up for a couple years.
  7. bullhead, I've had small ones like 10" smack the heck our of a Texas Rig when flipping. Rock bass too
  8. FLW pro (that has won in the last 2 years). And the owner of a very popular bait manufacturer.
  9. Still need one?
  10. 100% isn't happening for one huge reason... Next year MLF will have the top 75 pros from each in their new series. The TOP pros are doing it exclusively. 2 huge payout tournaments and 3-5 pro level payout tournaments. Current flw/BASS tournament model for pros is antiquated and is dying. Why spend money to merge?
  11. Make sure you have a sharp bit. Have a 2x4 or something under what you are drilling to support and keep from cracking. In the end it is a pain and takes a while.
  12. Add a fan to what you do. Get the Plano boxes with the drain/air flow holes.
  13. https://www.jensonusa.com/JensonUSA-768-Cable-Cutter-Cable-Cutter?pt_source=googleads&pt_medium=cpc&pt_campaign=shopping_us&pt_keyword=&gclid=Cj0KCQjw77TbBRDtARIsAC4l83kfZTSl_8N8GPQXAOP2V1PTeBplexLNNer1OJlQZWbZyTeHzkeoyuEaAoesEALw_wcB Cut way easier than diagonal cutters. Also good for cables and housing as they don't crush them.
  14. Quantum = Lindsey Lohan. A while ago they were hot and everyone wanted them. Now they seem sad and crazy. The work just fine, just too many QC issues.
  15. Drop the spool in a mixing bowl of warm water and then wind the line on, using your fingers for tension. Videos on youtube show the specifics. No line twist and the line memory seems to be reduced.
  16. 10lb supernatural or 8lb yo Zuri hybrid
  17. Ti is on fire. Last Saturday a 50 boat tournament. 5 fish bags... 40 bags over 17lbs 3 over 23lbs 5th was 20.6lbs...
  18. 7ft 6in MH Tatula rod from American Legacy Fishing. 99.95 Done.
  19. Explain how what you wrote is different than a citica e or g? (Not current model) VBS No X-ship 3+1 bearings
  20. The original plain Jane Tatula Rods are great and should be getting super discounted with the new model coming out. Same blank as the Zillion. 7'2" Hf or 7'1" MHxf are great jig rods.
  21. SLX= Citica E and G with fewer vowels. Renamed and cheaper... win
  22. 3" swing impact on a drop shot is money. On a Keitech football jig head too.
  23. Look into paycheck nose jobs around weeds. If they still make them.
  24. Schematic you posted looks like it is from a Zillion/TD-Z variant
