  1. Carolina Rig and Drop Shot if they are relating to bottom. Suspended I'd go spybait or big spook.
  2. You sure about the size of the pond? That's like 425 sq ft. I know that's possible to support one. My brother had a tiny pond with a 6 in it that he used to feed, but that fish was put in there and was a pet. A naturally produced 6lber in that space would be at the extreme end of "it's possible."
  3. Shallow: LC Flash Minnows Med: LC Pointer 100 SP Deep: LC Staysee
  4. Ploppers and Carolina Rigs should be added to the list of applications.
  5. Regular Daiwa is a Fast Dobyns Fast Daiwa is a Fast St Croix
  6. I've used a Carolina Rig as a co in the last 2 Costas in Champlain. Both during the spawn. Finished 12 and 16th respectively. You can use that rig to fish any way you want. Bed Fish, deep drag, weed lines with a swimbait, shallow clear water, hard bottom soft bottom doesn't make a difference. Figure out what set up works best for your situation.
  7. When the smallies are still deep after ice out, your method and bait work well.
  8. My buddy is sponsored by them. I've repaired 3 of them when he needed work done asap. I'd say they're not that different from a Veritas, Fenwick, Lews, BPS or rods like that. As always with rods: light, strong, cheap... pick 2...
  9. Size of the angler throws pictures off too. I'm a big dude and a 6lb smallie doesn't look big in my hands with me behind it. Whereas my buddy is 5'5" and this fish "only" weighs 7.2
  10. White grubs work. I'd run them.
  11. There's another for 230 from a guy that has a rating. If you are buying now due to the coupon, would you rather pay a little more and get it vs. not getting it and wasting your time and the coupon.
  12. Sasuki Craw. Wacky rig a 4" senko on a jig...
  13. SV spool. No apparent external mag adjustment. Find out Wednesday.
  14. 10lb Sunline Super Natural. Stuff is thin and tough.
  15. Stormr Typhoon set is like 200 per piece. It's great for April,May,Sept,Oct,Nov fishing up here. June-August I use the light $100ish Stormr shell.
  16. This particular topic will get you a billion different responses. Some love the m/xf. Others love m/moderate. Add in the line type for your jerk/top set up and you've opened fishing's Pandora's Box. I think either rod you have listed will work, I'd lean towards the xf and run 10lb Sunline Super Natural. That should cover it nicely.
  17. I am going with Bass Mafia Ice Boxes and Gamakatsu 3600 boxes this year... I'll move baits into them once its above 14 degrees...
  18. Bingo!!!! Early May to Late May stuff moves quick. North and south ends swap back and forth for which is warmer based on rainfall and sun. Mid lake is haaaaaard until later May into June. North end can be stained (Mississquoui Bay, St Albans Bay) or Gin Clear (Macquam Shore, Eagle Mtn, Malletts Bay) you'll find big heads and brown fish mixed together in all those areas. Alewife and Yellow Perch colors.
  19. Champlain aside from South Bay is Vermont laws... so all baits need to come from a farmers market, all scents must be cbd based, your hydro wave must play the dead.
  20. The rod should be fine. Do some research on the baits you want to fish. Find out what line they were designed and tested with. PS... use 10lb Sunline Super Natural...
  21. But you can change colors... that makes them a lot cheaper if you consider the cost of covering colors for a range of situations.
  22. They're like 2 bearings different than the $60+ Sedona. Great reels.
  23. That's $6 for one. A pack of 1/2oz Keitech football jigheads and a pack of 3.3 or 3.8 SIF will get you basically the same bait with a way lower cost per bait price. I have some Dark Sleepers and they're pretty cool, but not revolutionary.
  24. Not a great rig rod. Dobyns 735 in whatever model you want is good. The venerable 70MHF taper St Croix is good as well. A 735 taper/blank from Lamiglas is a great rig rod too. Uribe Riverside M3 is a great rod for big rigs too. I run a spiral wrapped 8ft NFC, the spiral wrap on a rod that you are long lining or dragging baits with feels really good.
  25. Very cool bait... but... a 2.8 to 3.3 Keitech SIF on a tungsten football jighead does the same thing for a few bucks less and allows you to change colors without re-tying.
