Favorite Jerk bait!?!

Featured Replies

So I recently posted a question asking what everyone's favorite spinnerbait is, and about a problem I was having with a spinner bait of my own. I got some GREAT responses and recommendations!! Another bait that I'm inexperienced with is jerk bait. So my question to you is what's your favorite jerk bait!!? I feel it's a rather plain question but hey, I want to know! Thanks!

My favorite is the Megabass Vision 110+.

But now that I lost one at $25 I don't like it so much!

For someone who has never thrown a jerkbait and wants to give it a go which of these would you say are easiest to use/lost cost?

Jerkbaits are a bait that you really get what you pay for IMO. There's plenty of cheaper baits that will catch lots of fish, but when it comes to tricking fish in cold water that are really examining a bait that is sitting motionless and often in clear water, realism and other minor details can make a big difference.

None on my list are overly cheap. The Skinny Cutter is about the cheapest but also isn't available in my favorite jerkbait color. The Strike King is the most readily available, comes in an assortment of colors, and is also forgiving if you smack it against a rock or dock. They also come in a smaller size if you don't want to jump straight into fishing the bigger size. The Duo and Lucky Craft baits are excellent if you want to try a higher end bait. You don't need a lot of colors, I'm just addicted to buying them.

Shadow Rap is my top choice, although I like the Vision 110 as a close #2.

Lately, my favorite is a Jackall Rerange 110.

Megabass makes great baits but if I could only fish one hard bait brand for the rest of my life it would be Lucky Craft.

Xrap is a bug fish producer and reasonably priced

Hahahah @Glaucus!! I'm right there with you on that one, what a collection @A-Jay! Lucky Craft and Megabass have both caught my eye in the past, but I've never pulled the trigger. I'll have to give them a go? Thanks everyone, I'll  report back with a picture of a nice jerk bait fish!

I have a hard time narrowing it down but I have 3 that I like. Smithwick Suspending Rattlin' Rogue, Lucky Craft Pointer 100, and the Rapala X-Rap 10.  Floating jerkbaits I have it down to 2 of them, Smithwick Floating Rattlin' Rogue, and the Bagley Bang-O-Lure.

Probably varies some depending on where you fish. On Table Rock the vision 110 and 110 plus 1 are close to the top. I will say there are days when the Mcstick will do as well if not better. I think it has a bit less roll and there are times they want that.

As much as I like the Vision, the Mcstick in Blue bandit or Norman flake will flat catch them.
