  1. Yes, My wife and youngest daughter will be coming, I will fish with them on Friday and Sunday, but Saturday they will be at camp, I do not know if your wife likes to play cards or cornhole or anything but I know the wife likes card games.
  2. No problem, I will gather that intel info and post it here for your enjoyment...WWWWWOOOOO HHHHOOOOOOOO !!!!
  3. Zoff and I have talked about that, I can get the address or the exact location by means of coordinates for the entrance to the park, or I can give you all specific directions. I will post all three if necessary, How would you guys like it? Seems like everyone has gps these days except me...still old fashioned map reader I guess or just old fashioned...or just old.
  4. Pitch in 5 bucks for the meats, and if you wish to bring a side dish or desert, we will leave that up to you...I eat a lot when the food is good, just keep that in mind LOL !!! Look forward to meeting you !!!
  5. Sure thing Sam, Date= Sept. 22nd Launch ramp= State park Launch time= 7am Time to arrive= my suggestion would be at least by 6am for the random drawing etc... Cookout= we weigh in around 4 or 5 pm, for the bragging rights tournament, and as you put it, lie to eachother lol !! Donation= 5 bucks, Family is included for those who wish to bring them, all we ask is for them to bring a covered dish if they can. As far as tackle goes, one tackle box should be all you will need, I will say that lizards work pretty good there along with drop shots rigged with robo worms, Green Pumpkin, Watermelon Red, Pumkin Seed/Chart, PB&J, Cotton Candy, Salt and Pepper, are all colors that work pretty well there in the past as far as plastics are concerned. Spinners, Willow leaf, double or tripple blades work well with Yellow/Bruised Bananna, White/Chart or Blue/Black skirts with a split tail trailer Jigs, I like Natural colors with a little Chart to immulate sun fish This Lake has a ton to offer, Grass, Rocks and rock piles, Lay downs, Beaver huts, more structure than you could ever imagine, deep cover, Stumps both shallow and deep, it will be hard to cover in a day. Flukes, Baby bass colors, Salt and Pepper, that should give you all a good idea of what to bring.
  6. In speaking of youngsters, will any of you non boaters have any saftey equiptment at all?, I will come prepaired to have extras as far as life jackets etc... but you will need to have your fishing licence's in order before we hit the water, the police do check on a regular basis there so you need to be ready. Just an FYI
  7. We hope you do as well, Anna has the plausability that we could catch some decent fish in both amount and in size as well, but she can be nasty stingy with her fish as well. Will you be joining us for the cookout ?
  8. As Zoff posted, we want to meet members and have some fun in the process, we have thoughts of a lot of different areas, the ones he had mentioned are only a few. I think once we have this meet and greet under our belts we will be much more prepaired for the next, and so on, we both feel that this state of ours offers some really good opportunities for some great fishing all over with some really great people !! There are thoughts I am sure each one of us have on when and where etc...that neither one of us have discussed yet, and I look forward to being able to sit down face to face with our members and discussing the next one, but the objective is the same, meet and greet, make new friends, enjoy something you may not get the chance to enjoy otherwise, and most importantly, bring your family and let them enjoy it as well.
  9. BBF man I was hoping you could make it !!! Good news is that Zoff and I have been talking, we want this to go to areas all around this awesome state of ours, we do not know where the next stop will be or when but we will make it closer to you sooner or later, hope you can join us then !!! Hey thanx for letting us know for sure and we look forward to meeting you soon buddy !!!
  10. AWESOME !!!! HAVE A HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!! We look forward to meeting you and your father A j , it should be a lot of fun, see you there !!! Zoff, we need to add 2 to the non boater list !!!
  11. Alright guy's it looks like we are getting a fair amount of interest from non boaters here, do we have any boaters that would like to be a part of this too?
  12. Well alright then !!!, can't wait to see you also Aj, would you and your father like to be a part of the cookout afterwards? One other question, you say you are going to be a non boater, does that include your father as well? does he wish to go fishing as well? is what i should be asking. A suggestion to you, please make sure you guy's read the "Lake Anna meet and greet" post just incase you have any questions, then go ahead and ask any questions in that post you have, I will be away from the computer for the weekend, if your questions are not answered by Monday morning , either myself or Zoff will be sure to have an answer for you. Have great weekend all !!!
  13. You happen to be in luck, it is on a Saturday, can we pencil you in J? Don't forget to post if you are a non boater or not k buddy, we look forward to meeting you !!!
  14. Good luck I hope you can join us Eddie, we will add you to the list of hopefull's and we look forward to meeting you if you can make it !!
  15. X2 Just because you got a new bass boat ( congrats by the way !! ) does not mean you should pass up the opportunities you have that you can still use the TM on, There are a lot of places that I can "launch" my bass boat from around here that only allow TM's. As Wayne P. stated the Potomac is a wonderful source for you, I have fished it a few times with some friends but have never had my boat there yet, it's just a touch too far for a day trip, Anna is almost 2 hrs from me already and a place I spent a lot of my time, i hope you enjoyed it as much as I do when I go. You have a good girl to help you get a boat congrats on both, I hope you get a lot of years of service from the boat and have a ton of fun with both !!! Good luck and be safe !!!
  16. One more thing to concider when fishing docks, the most productive ones will be the older ones, the ones that have been there long enough to collect a good amount of algae, bait fish will often stop to feed, and when there are bait fish we know there are preditors. Good luck and be safe !!!
  17. In most cases they will offer you a sticker to place on your boat as well to reflect the volentary inspection, the law dogs in Va. have a lot of respect for that sticker too, once they see it they usually don't even bother, not to say they still won't check you but it reflects well on your behalf. I agree, I don't think I have ever met a nicer group of people, the coast guard guys and gals have an outstanding program and should be commended for their efforts !!!!
  18. Definately a Pickerel Here is a Northern Pike my youngest daughter caught on a little fishing outing, 19" 2'-02 oz
  19. Traveler, We are waiting to see how many are interested, as far as the cookout is concerned, even if we get no more people you are more than welcome to join us at our camper for dinner, if you feel you must bring something, I will see what is on the menu and get back to you, how "dat" be? There is a sheet on another post Zoff has started we have 4 boats and two 2 non boaters as of now, it is under " who is coming to lake anna va.? " However I did not see you listed for some reason, I will contact Zoff and have him add you in. As for the ride you are offering, it is very kind of you to do so and your support has been awesome !!! thank you very very much !!! As for the rest of you guy's there has been 573 views on this meet and greet...573? and only 6 people want to participate with 2 others that are working hard on trying to attend. looks like only a few of us are going to have all the fun the way it is right now, I know there are more boaters and non boaters out there so where is everybody?
  20. It is a good question, half of the launch fee would only be 2 bucks, the parking permit for those who are coming is 5 bucks for all vehicles and the launch fee for the boat is 4 bucks, so 9 dollars total for the boats, we already have to pay to get in to fish so the 5 dollar parking pass will have to be paid by all and should not be concidered as half of the launch fee. I feel we should leave that up to the boater for them to decide, so be prepaired to pay if they wish for half of the cost of fuel, it's only fair, as for me, I simply want you non boaters to have a shot at fishing for a day on a boat, a day of fun, a chance to learn, and if we can learn something from each other even better. We are looking into a big cookout at the end of the day, just some burgers and dogs kind of thing, so that the family does not get left out of the equasion if they choose to participate. If we do, what is everyones thoughts on something of that nature, we would ask for 5 bucks from each to chip in and bring a covered dish if you can.
  21. Little bit of updated info for those who are coming If you may choose to spend the night there are a couple of campgrounds in the area if you are interested. 1 State park $24.oo per nite for standard sites $32.00 for water and electric sites cabins are seasonal the ones I had seen are $74.00 per nite for a single bedroom, parking and launch will be free should you stay. 2 Christopher Run campground $30.00 per nite for standard $33.00 for water and electric $35.00 water, electric and sewer hook ups they also have small cabins for $50.00 per nite. Fro additional info on the surrounding area campgrounds you can google "camping around/at lake anna" it will bring up a host of local areas with addresses and all the contact info needed. For those that are bringing a boat, launch fee at the front entrance will be $9.00, there will not be anyone at the front entrance that early in the AM, they have an honor system, put your fee in the envelope and remove the tear away window tag to hang on your mirror and slip the envelope through the mail slot in the door. For those that are non boaters your parking pass is $5.00, the same applies as above for payment, do not forget to put the tag on your mirror, the PO PO will check your tag during the day and make sure you paid by matching the envelope you shoved through the mail slot. There are two seperate parking lots, one for cars and one for trucks with trailers, the car lot is on the left and the truck/trailer lot on the right, make sure you park in the right location or you can get a fine. The gate opens 1 hr before day lite and 1 hr after dark it will close, we are going to launch by 7 AM, all people need to be there for the random drawing early so we can get gone by 7, please and thank you !!! This is starting to get exciting and I can not wait to meet all of you !!!
  22. Wow big guy you really know your way around a reel !!! Very informative and one artical I will keep handy !!! Awesome job !!!! Who knew you could be soooo....sarcastic...less LOL !!!
  23. Boater with an open seat 17' Nitro, I can take two if needed, but like you it gets crowded, I also do not wish to leave anyone behind, if we have any that are left without a ride may I suggest a half day trip, and take the ones that did not get out in the morning, out in the afternoon. At least all will get out for a few hours, I voted yes to the random drawing. Chrisdm3, Very, very nice, that is what we love about this site, people like you make doing all of this worth the effort, we will find a way somehow to have a ride for you if you wish to come.
  24. There are so many answers to that question, My answer would be, self satisfaction, what drives me to keep fishing is a ton of different things, new things that I learn from here, practicing flipping and pitching in the yard, learning new ways to attract a bite and striking out, just being on the water looking for new structure and cover, all the up's and down's that go along with fishing, searching for that one go to bait, it drives me freaking nutts and it gives me a ton of satisfaction all in the same day. It always ends with the same answer, because it's what I love to do.
  25. That is one of the goals, we don't want to be "copy cats" so to speak, we just thought this would be a chance for some of the locals to be able to meet up and enjoy some time on the water and give some of the non boaters a chance to fish some bigger waters and have some fun learning from others, hopefully, it all works out, I don't think we are taking away from the BR roadtrips but at the very least we are trying to give back to our own general community, especially for the ones that will not be able to attend the roadtrips for lack of expenses etc... We are tossing around quite a few ideas, if it all works out, it only gets better from here. Thanx for the offer Traveler !!!! we may need it.
