  1. Thats funny man !!! Honestly though tell her that I have that same issue lol, I use my bait casters so much that when I go to a spinner, I find out real quick just how out of practice I am with it...I really should pick it up more often lol.
  2. Any and all schooling is going to make you a well rounded person, there is no reason why you should not continue your education and improve on that. Going pro is a long, long road and very, very expencive one to travel, you need to win a lot of tournaments to prove yourself to be able to market yourself.
  3. This artical right here is well worth printing and keeping it with you at home especially when you are looking at new topo maps for waters you have never visited, it is also going to give you some tremendous insite on your home body of water, it works very well for my area here in Va. but the artical was written about a lake in Florida. Homework is key when visiting new water, this artical is one reason why I love this site, the hard work and dedication it took to put this into words and then just give it to us for free was astronomical. So for me it's homework, homework, homework, first, then after that I pick a spot, I will pull up on it, look at it, as far as water color, temp, wind, etc... and let the moment help me decide the manner in which I fish a given spot.
  4. Really nice job guy's !!! Nasty, The rock fish were most likely transfered there from another source, either purposely stocked or caught from another body of water and transfered there. Endless, Glad to hear you didn't come away empty handed, how did your wife like her Valentine gift? Hotrod, Awesome job !!! and thanx for the pics man. Ej, Looking forward to hearing of your prefishing this coming weekend, I want to wish you the best of luck !!! Outdoorsman110, Glad to hear you had some luck, sounds like you had a little of both good and bad, at least the bad luck was just a paddle which is easy to replace.
  5. Your sences are a much better fish finder than that thing, keep looking.
  6. Im with the guy's here on this one as well, one thing that I have done is go to a lighter football head jig, 3/8 oz and 1/4 oz. The fall is much slower because it's lighter, this helps me to keep them on top of the rocks instead of falling in the cracks and getting lodged as I swim it along. You are still going to lose some but this way I have found that you do not lose as many. Is it worth it? you tell me.
  7. Good possibility, I will shoot you a pm.
  8. LMAO !!! I live in Lacey Springs. Thanx for the post and hope to meet up with you sometime.
  9. There is no reason not to own one, I am a HUGE Nitro fan, if the opportunity were to present itself I would own a skeeter in a heartbeat. Most, not all issues with these boats are usually the owners misunderstanding of how to properly maintain and operate these boats, you would do well to purchace one if you are thinking about it.
  10. Never heard of that one, where would I find that color?
  11. Ha !!! that should prove to be interesting on a day like today lol.
  12. I would try some drop shot lures too then especially in the coves, off of the points I would try a fire tiger spinner or a small medium depth crank bait, like I said be open minded, it's overcast, at least it is here, so take some darker colors with ya. Good luck and be safe !!!
  13. How big and deep is it? The jb would be my first suggestion, but since it's going to be windy, I would take a top water too like a buzz bait, it's going to be overcast also, so darken up your colors.
  14. 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 25, it's supposed to get worse as the day progresses, where are you going ?
  15. Endless it's kinda windy today, be safe first of all, I hope you and the wife have a great day !!!
  16. What part of harrisonburg do you live in? I have not been fishing at all yet, let me tell ya, I am about ready to crack, the gold fish pond keeps looking better all the time lol. Welcome to the forum !!!
  17. Endless, My thoughts and prayers to you and your family, I hope all goes well, and we will say a prayer for you guy's in church. Hope you both have a safe and fun day fishing tomorrow and I am sure she will enjoy her Valentine gift. Good luck and be safe !!!
  18. Back toward the main lake.
  19. Your welcome, Have you ever been there before? I get the impression you may not have. A couple of things you need to know about, when you go left from the ramp, the water can get very shallow in a hurry, also if you go right from the ramp you need to stay to your right as you head out to the larger part of the lake, once the lake opens up the only other real issue you may encounter is next to the HUGE rock wall, the lake will narrow and split, stay to the left especially if the water level is down, then it opens up again and you get to the coves and stuff, ok. Take your time when moving from place to place and enjoy the sights, it can be breathtaking, one more note, storms come in quickly and can catch you by surprise, pay close attention to the weather forcast !!!!
  20. Yes the one located close to the campgrounds.
  21. As you are looking out from the boat ramp, down at the water, you want to start fishing to the left, and run all the way up as close to the bridge as you can, all the way up through there is some really good fishing, as you work back toward the backside of Moomaw, there are coves lined with tree tops, yes tree tops, you will be 15 yards of shore and in 50 feet of water or more, depending on the lake level. I have found that swim baits and jigs work great along with Senko's, Jigs work well for me since that is what I love to fish the most. Good luck and be safe !!!
  22. Welcome to the forum !!!
  23. Welcome to the forum !!! Feel free to read all of the articals then post any questions you may have and we will do our best to help.
  24. If your water is only 8' deep there are a couple of things I would try. If it's overcast, darker colors work better, if it's sunny more natural colors, if its a breezy day I would go with some top water action along the shoreline or a spinner. Let us know what you are trying and maybe we can be of more help to ya.
