  1. First of all congrats !!!! Youth are full of questions, use that to your advantage, I would suggest keeping your articals simple and follow them up with a Q & A space, this does a couple of different things, the youth will get their name in the artical, along with their picture if it will allow and gives them a chance to be recognised so it helps hold their intrest, it gives you the oportunity to get out there and pose questions to other anglers all across this great country of ours who are starting at a young age, it will also aid in giving you different story line ideas for each month. Remember you are writing for them, so I wish you the best of luck and we look forward to reading your articals !!!!
  2. Nice job RW !!! Sounds like a great day !! What more could you ask for after a day of good fishing, than to spend time with friends having a few cold ones too.
  3. Nice !!! I generally do not fish one lure for an eight hour period of time, nor would I fish 4 hours and change baits for the next 4 hrs either lol. There is a lot of truth to this post, what I normally do when going to a pond, especially one I am not familure with, is I take 3 rods, one with a Rage Craw jig, one with a Carolina rigged lizard, and one with a Texas rigged worm, all rigged with natural colors, find the best spot I think will yeild a fish and fish each one for about an hour, then move to the next best spot and try again. If I don't catch anything, I go back to the camper and have a Budweiser or two or three...
  4. Osbornj2, Really nice job, congrats on your first A-rig fish, hey thanx for the pics by the way !!! One of these days I hope to get down there and fish SML, the water looks to be in much better condition than at Anna right now lol.
  5. The set up is not as important as your health but I am glad to hear you got it back anyway. Have you tried spinners in and around those beaver hutts and wood? try it like I suggested, just like your fishing a jig, make sure its got some reds and browns in it too, don't be afraid to let it sit on the wood, give it a few seconds to rest there then raise it up and let it fall again, I like a 3/8oz, 3 willow bladded hawg caller for doing this, it gives the fall some really great action. Also don't be afraid to make it bump off of things, the more you make it change direction the more reaction you will get.
  6. Nice job Rocky, sometimes you have to tough it out, way to hang in there man !!! Endless, I bet you can't wait for march to be over LOL, it seems you have had some bad luck with cars and fishing this month. Glad to hear you were not injured though, I have a question about your lakes your fishing, are any of them the ones you caught the fish in your avatar at? If so how are you fishing these lakes? are you beating the banks to death? fishing the structure in the whole lake? Outdoorsman110, really nice job man !!!

If you have grass in your lake the mojo rig will slay them with the rage craw !!!!!
  8. If I could I would. The more time on the water is more time to learn, dress warm for in the am and get crackin!!! By the way the black snake looks like he is smiling for the camera LOL.
  9. LOL !!! When is fishing ever a waisted trip?
  10. Well I didn't get to fish Anna this past weekend as I had hoped but some really AWESOME news is my best friend and another really great friend fished Anna in the Elite Series, they placed 18th to start the season, missed some good ones but he managed to get big fish. 7.09 lbs As much as it pains me to miss the tourny's this year, I could not be happier for my friends. Good luck with the rest of the season guy's !!!!!

  16. There are various ways to fish a spinner and other baits as well, the one most important thing that people look over when using a lot of these baits is they forget to make it change directions. Heavy grass, timber, it does not matter, I see it this way, a spinner is nothing more than a fancy jig, all they did was add a few blades to it. Think outside the box, let the spinner fall just like a jig, pick it up and let it fall again, toss it into some heavy cover twitch it left and right, twitch it along a weed line, make it bounce off of cover, wood or rock, if you just toss and retrieve you limit yourself and the full effect this and other baits have.
  17. Welcome to the forum !!! P.S. two cents ain't worth much any more, you had better bring a 5 spot. What part of Va. are you in?
  18. A whole season? No, When I first joined this forum plastics were a weakness for me, along with a lot of other baits, There is not a day that goes by when I am on the water that plastics don't play a part of. I have however learned that it generally takes more thinking than anything else in this sport, the plastics in case and point weren't the problem, it was the where and when to use the plastics then it was getting the techniques down while using the plastics. In order for you to enjoy plastics, or anyone for that matter, has to have a few things happen first. A: You need to be able to locate fish first, fish bodies of water that have an abundance of fish, some local ponds or bodies of water may not be able to offer that to you even though you think it looks good and should hold fish does not mean that is does. B: Be ready for anything, a few general colors is really all you need to build confidence, to use a bait such as plastic takes patience and understanding of the conditions you are faced with, water color, sunshine and wind are the three most important to me. C: Once you get good at locating fish and understanding the conditions that the fish are most active in or at least should be active in, it's time to work on confidence with all of your baits, the T-rigged worm is where I would start, this rig with plastic worms, lizards are most likely going to yeild the best results, once you get that first bite, not necessarily your first fish, think about what you did to get that fish to at least bite at the bait, then think about what happend after that, did it strike at it once and leave it alone, did it pick it up and hold onto it, am I on a primary point with rocks or secondary point with lay downs, if the fish just quickly tapped the bait and left it alone, often times all you need to do is change the color of the bait just a little, if you are on a primary point with rocks, you know to locate other places that share the same type of landscape, basically you are starting to establish a pattern. There are days when I know a bait should work and I still don't throw them, why? because I do not have the confidence in them that I should, the way I fix that is to simply put everything else away and fish the crap out of that bait until I find what makes that bait work, I may not catch another fish the rest of the day, but I will come off the water knowing I have enough information for this forum to ask why I failed, I always get a responce that makes sence to me and try again the next time I get in that same situation and usually end up being confident.
  19. X2 Lot's of great info to help you out. If you want us to help you out, we need some help from you, more info about the body of water and what you are using to fish with will give us what we need to give you better advice. You can't go wrong with a T-Rigged worm for starters, when you look at the water, how dark or clear is it, this will help you with the color you need to use, the darker the water, the darker the bait should be. Don't rush yourself, take the time to fish the bait, slow action type twitches will get their attention.
  20. If a picture is worth a thousand words, how many words are a good video worth, NICE POST ClackerBuzz !!!!
  21. I can only imagine the excitement that your daughter and nephew had seeing that fish. You may think you were the one in the moment but somehow, I think you missed an opportunity of a life time.
  22. It just takes time that's all, it's not the product you see now, it's the finished product you have when it is completed that you are going to be the most proud of. Good luck and we look forward to your posts and DON'T FORGET THE PICS !!!
  23. Ok Endless I saved my 1000th post just for you !!! As far as repairing your spro, super glue will do the trick, just let it air for a couple of days so the smell goes away. Now you say you are missing them on the spro, or missing them with all of your frogs? Are the fish too small or are you just getting excited and not waiting for the rod to load up? Or are they missing the frog all together?
  24. Welcome to the forum !!!
