  1. Go NFL on them and have a lockout :
  2. Thats a good point about replacement policies. I know St.Croix has a good one and so Does SHIMANO. I know if you snap a shimano just about any authorized dealer will let you trade for exact same one. A Crucial is a good choice for a few dollars less than the Avid.
  3. I'll avoid skipping on purpose with my baitcaster. M/F or M/XF Spinning rig for me.
  4. When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas pressure. Then Mrs. Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more. When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two others had jumped the fence and were out, Heaven knows where. Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked, the toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were scattered. Frustrated, Santa went in the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drunk all the cider and hidden the liquor.. In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider jug, and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found the mice had eaten all the straw off the end of the broom. Just then the doorbell rang, and an irritated Santa marched to the door, yanked it open, and there stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree. The angel said very cheerfully, 'Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?' And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree. Not a lot of people know this. Seriously good story! ;D I laughed out loud!
  5. I've never snapped off with braid, in fact I believe my poles will snap before 50 lb braid or even 40 lb. I've even set the hook as hard as I could into a small pier one time, and A Uni knot to a 5/0 Superline Gammie with 40 lb broke that hook in half

  8. We also do the Angel on top because of my mom's side. I remember last year when I had to do the tree by myself, I put Troy Aikman atop the tree, which my mom didn't like so much ;D
  9. What are some of your guys's Christmas traditions? (Or other winter holidays if you aren't Christian or dont celebrate Christmas) One of mine is something me and my dad do every year. After we've bought each other the gifts we will be giving, we bother each other about hints. For every one hint I give him, he gives me one and vise versa. This usually starts around the 15th and continues until Christmas Morning. Another one I think is more common is that every year someone in the family is "Santa" and passes out a present for every one to open. We all open them and "ooh and Ahh" and then Santa passes out the next round. We also have a huge family party Christmas Eve at my Grandparents house every year with my whole dad's side of the family. The party is really fun though because my grandparents are so young, they're 50 but I wont go into detail. Another thing we do is, Every one in my family gets a pair of pajama pants to sleep in the night before Christmas, and when me and my sister wake up, we get to see what santa left in our stockings without my parents. I think they just let us see whats in our stocking without asking because they dont want us to wake them up : What are your guys's traditions, if any, for the Holidays?
  10. Right now i'm trying to decide on a Crucial or Avid to buy with my christmas cash.

    what's undergrad? :-?
  12. Infinite Props to you bro.
  13. Well I mean it is kinda hard to pay for some Dogfish Head at the grocery store when your not even old enough to buy tobacco, let alone drive by yourself
  14. I'd use your Lightning rod for cranking because you dont need much sensitivity, I would spend most of my money on my worm/plastics rod as you need sensitivity for that. I would get a decent priced flippin/pitchin stick. Also BPS Pro Qualifiers are probably the best reels you can get for $100 or less on sale
  15. Haha I dont want to give him a heart attack! ;D
  16. Like I know when I grow up I'll have responsibilities like paying mortgage, insurance and all that stuff(I actually have to pay for my insurance before I can get my liscence), and I get he would rather spend 50 on a gander mountain combo and have other stuff, but it just gets me that he nags me about it. And I would love to get my old man a nice combo, like a Compre and a Sahara, but being only 15 I dont have a job, so I dont get money alot, and really cant have a legit job until July(my 16th birthday)
  17. Skip the wine, I'll have an O'douls.
  18. Reefs are ridiculous (in a good way) I usually buy a pair every summer, just for variety. They hold up extremely well, the first pair I ever bought a couple years ago are still in near mint condition (Although They're too small now) They're also like walking on a cloud! I kid you not they are all I wear in the warmer months, and sometimes to school in winter (call me crazy). I dont know about wading in fast rivers or anything, but the only time I wear my Reef's in the water is when im in the ocean, usually sound side of the OBX. Im too scared they might come off my feet in fast moving water or waves. They're a really nice 50 dollar flip flop. I'd buy um at 75. These are the ones I prefer, its called the Fanning -02 iirc And the bottle opener underneath I think comes in pretty handy :
  19. I wouldv'e picked up some different, less common stuff but my local tackle shop was just about empty.
  20. ... Or do other people in your family complain when you buy expensive(and in my case not so expensive) fishing rods and reels? My dad never lets me hear the end of it.. > He always nags me about how my Crucial and Carbonlite is "so high-end" and how I want to save my christmas money for A new combo. He's one of those people that thinks all rods are created equal with just different price tags. Which is fine, I agree to a point but their is a quality and performance gap between my combo and a Gander Mountain $50 combo. Like he cant understand my explanation of why I spend the money I do on my gear. Obviously I enjoy a more refined rod, but he seems he wont let it go on what i spend! I wish I would get him to fish a better rod so he knows what its like to fish a nicer rod and reel than what he has. (I would let him use mine but he hates casting gear.) Its just so frustrating when he nags me for using a more expensive rod when he has never used one himself. Does anybody else have a family member like this? And my dad does fish as often as I do, So he's not clueless about it like a family member who doesn't fish. Sorry for ranting a bit.
  21. I dont know how fish feel in a livewell or stressed or injuted, but a Mountain Dew usually makes me better. I always keep a 2-liter of dew with me when I'm fishing incase im stressed cause I just lost a big fish :
