Rain Gear Help
Scott F has the right idea. Get yourself some Frog Togs until you stop growing. Then invest in a quality set of rain gear, or two.

Medium Power Casting Rods
Out of my 16 current casting rod lineup, 10 are medium or med-light. I only have two heavy power rods. One of those hasn't been out of the house in at least three years, and the other sees very limited use. For me, heavy rods and line take away most of the challenge, and all of the fun in fishing.

Split Grip Or Full??
I don't care about what's behind the reel seat. Cork, EVA, Hypalon, foam, etc; split or full length; it doesn't matter. The foregrip is a different proposition. I prefer a no foregrip design, as long as the reel seat threads are not exposed when the reel is in place. I have several rods which "feature" 1/2 to 3/4" of exposed threads. I find this very annoying. Who makes a reel with a foot long enough to require threading that long on a reel seat? A hint to rod manufacturers; either install a foregrip, or trim those dad-blasted threads.

I Think I Caught A Politician...
You think you caught a politician? That's like saying you think you caught a case of the clap.

Daiwa Tdz 103H Clutch Spring Issues
Some Daiwa reels have a very small insert, which fits into the hole in the frame, with the correct size hole for the spring. I can't remember if the TD-Z has that insert, but I think it does. If that is the case, and the insert is missing, the spring will not remain in place.

Ebola: Hype Or Legitimate Threat?
As Raul correctly stated, the risk to us in the USA is significanly less than in other less fortunate parts of the world. But, our media has a long standing policy best stated by the expression "if it bleeds, it leads". I pay almost no attention to mass market media. I have completely lost my taste for manufactured hysteria.

Winter Waiting
I service my reels. That takes a while. I also service reels for a double handful of local guys. Clean up and/or repair my rods, buy more stuff, sort and organize my tackle, buy more stuff, do some reel upgrading/tuning, buy more stuff, spend more time on the forums, buy more stuff, etc. Winter gets to be an expensive proposition. Now that I have a dedicated space for it, I'll be doing a lot more rod building. I have blanks and components for five builds waiting right now. I think this winter will be an even more expensive proposition.

Jazz Concert- New Experience
You really should do just that. It's always a good time.

Jazz Concert- New Experience
OK deak, you're now officially on my list of people with whom I'd like to have a beer and a conversation. Chick Correa is my all time favorite piano player. Once upon a time, I knew and could play every Return to Forever piece ever released. On piano and bass. But that was a long time ago.

Jazz Concert- New Experience
Dang, John; I knew there was some reason I liked you. Never quite expected to see Miles, "trane, Copeland and Ried in the same post, on a fishing forum. Is this place cool, or what?

Odd Things That Bass Spit Up
I once had a bass spit out what looked like a tums or rolaids tablet. Needless to say, I did not taste test it to find out just exactly what it was.

We Lost One...
I'm gonna miss him. He was a big help to me, always making time to answer my questions. We banged heads a few times; agreeing to disagree about some things, but I never truly lost my respect for the man. Every time I read one of his "crusty old man" posts, I thought of my grandmother, and one of her sayings, getting a good chuckle. There's an old expression; "he calls a spade a spade". means "he tells it like it is". My grandmother's version was, "I like him, he doesn't call a spade a spade, he calls it a &%#$ing shovel". That was David Green. RIP, amigo.

I Give Up!
I frequently use the same last words. And yes, that's a planet. In the parallel dimension of my choice, women are not crazy, I am.

So, Have You Ultimately Reached The Majority Of What You Need To Buy For Fishing Besides The Minor Stuff That Requires Replacing Every Year?
Blasphemy. Blasphemy, I say.

Intersting Statistic
Just stumbled across this. 98% of all lunatics who ship bombs to their unsuspecting victims, use FedEx. After all, who would ship a bomb with a company call OOPS?

I Give Up!
Divorce is very liberating. It liberates you from half your stuff, and most of your money. Very liberating indeed.

It's Been 7 Days
I'm going to make a prediction. We will never see a pic of Raider. Because Raider is NOT some 6'2", 300 lb muscle bound electrician on a Harley. He is really someone's 85 year old, 95lb, white haired grandmother, kicked back in her recliner, flowered house dress and comfy slippers, with a glass of cheap whisky at one hand and cigarette in the other, having an absolute blast with her laptop, yanking all our chains. You have been warned.

I Give Up!
This may very well be the single most profound statement ever made on Bass Resource. A tip o' the hat to you, amigo.

I Give Up!
Communication between different species has always been a problem. Just remember, Men from Mars, Women are ^%#$%ing crazy.

After Market Reel Knobs
Pop the end cap off one of the knobs. If you find a screw head, you can replace the knobs, and maybe add a bearing or two. If you find a rivet head, you are S.O.L. Your only option at that point is the buy a new handle that has bearing supported knobs.

Medium Light Casting Rod
Now , there's a smart man. With the season almost over, no need to get in a hurry. And, who knows what TW will have in their Christmas sale. I got a Steez spinning rod a couple of years ago for $209. Then got a JDM Certate to go with it last year for less than $250. Waiting for a bargain describes my buying process to a tee.
