Aerators for livewells
Any links to what I need? Everything I seem to find online has the pump that brings in the water with it, but I already have that. I found this, what do you think: http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=9247&hvarDept=200&hvarEvent=&hvarClassCode=3&hvarSubCode=5&hvarTarget=browse Do you think just a new spray nozzle would take care of what I need? I believe the one I got looks kind of like a jelly bean with the bottom half open and that is where the waters from...maybe just a hose fitting? If I leave it run it overflows. I bought a timer to put on but haven't done so yet, do you think that a timer with like say 30-60 second intervals on the pump that brings the water in would take care of the overflowing problem, giving water more time to drain out? I do have an option to "open/close" my livewells which would let water come in, or I'm assuming go out too, without the use of the pumps...should this be left to open or put in the close position? I can't seem to get the hang of my livewells. Any help is much appreciated.

Aerators for livewells
When I bought my boat, it didn't have any aerators in the livewells. It has the pumps to pump in water and a drain and overflow but no actual aerator down in the livewell. A few people I have talked to told me not to even worry about an aerator and to just keep the pump on and it will run out the overflow before it fills up, thus always brining in fresh water. I've tried this but my pumps pump faster than the overflow can take water out and the livewell eventually overflows. It's a pain to run back and forth shutting the switch off and turning it back on all the time, so I want to get an aerator to put down in the livewell. However, I don't even know where to begin. What type of unit am I looking for? Also, once the aerator is in, does that provide all the oxygen you need to keep fish alive? I have lost a fish in my livewell because of no aeration and don't want to do it again. What else will I need to hook up the aerator? Links to products would be very helpful. Thanks in advance for the help.

on-board chargers?
can someone explain to me how these http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=74190&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults work? do they charge while you are on the water when necessary and if so, then how? or is it something you just install on board and plug in when you get to the dock or home? considering getting one, just don't know much about them. does anyone have one and if so, which one and do you like it?

What's Your PB?!
10 lb. largemouth caught at El Salto Mexico this past June. Caught it on a Bomber Crankbait Fat Free Shad fishing the channel drop off. Released it alive after taking measurements and pics.

anybody name their boat?
I have an "unofficial" name for mine. I had always heard that boat names should be girl names so since it seems like it drains my wallet everytime I go to the lake I have appropriately named my boat: "Miss Mymoney" ;D

Length and girth weight calculation
Yes, caught it at El Salto in Mexico this past week. My new PB...not sure the exact weight...the guide that around 9 pounds...I thought AT LEAST 9 pounds. Just wondering how close we were. I will have pics to post soon.

Length and girth weight calculation
How exactly is this done and about how accurate do you think it is? For example, if I have a largemouth bass that is 26" long and has a girth of 17 3/4"...how is this done?

Easiest way to locate offshore structure?
I am what you might call a bank beater. I fish shallow a lot of the time. The only "offshore" structure that I usually ever fish is points. This is because I find it hard to find other off shore structure. I have a boat with 1 fishfinder (for now) and it's transducer is mounted to the trolling motor. So when I'm idling around with the outboard I can't see a graph of what's under me. What is the best way to find off shore structure without a fishfinder by the console? I have studied maps and I kind of get the picture but without a graph it's kind of hit and miss on the exact location. I want to get better at offshore fishing, such as humps, ledges, creek channels, etc. My fishing really takes a hit in the summer when I'm just throwing at the shore for the first and last couple hours of the day and the rest of the day is wasted for me. Anybody have any ideas (other than going out and getting a new graph for the console)?

Nitro 700 LX 90HP Speed!
How long is the boat? I have a 17' Javelin with a 90 horse and with two guys and gas it goes around 45 mph. However, I only have an aluminum prop on my outboard right now and I've been told you can pick up another 8 mph or so by switching to stainless steel. So probably anywhere from 45-55 mph depending on your setup.

Fish finder problem/question...
Sometimes when I'm trolling around my fish finder suddenly jumps to extreme depths and says it's anywhere from 700-1100 ft. deep and shows fish all along the top of the graph, which I'm guessing is actually the bottom. My transducer is mounted on my trolling motor. I don't have the manual for the fish finder, as it was put on by a previous owner, so I don't really have anyway of looking it up. It's a Garmin. I have no idea what the sensitivity is set for or really what any of that means. Is there a setting that I could adjust that would help this, or maybe cleaning the transducer with something? If so what is the setting and which way should I adjust it? Also, what do you clean your transducer with if at all? Thanks for any help.

Trolling motor batteries...
So do you think I should probably go ahead and replace it then?
-
Trolling motor batteries...
Yes, I usually fully charge my battery after every use, but I usually use it quite a bit when I take out the boat. I'm not exactly sure how old the battery is, it's still the one that came with the boat when I bought it last year. It still looks fairly new but can't be exactly sure.

Trolling motor batteries...
I fished 3 days this week and after fishing about 6 hours one day in the wind, my trolling motor slowed down quite a bit. I figured this was normal since I had it on high a good portion of the day and was running it a lot. So I charged it back up that night and went again the next day only to find after a couple hours it was slowed way down again. I know it got fully charged, or at least the charger said it did, so my questions are...how often do you replace trolling motor batteries? Do you think it needs to be replaced? What are some good brands and about how much do they cost? Any certain type of battery (I think Deep Cycle Trolling is what I was told, but not sure) that I should look for? Thanks for any info you can give me.

How would you fish these conditions?
Well usually I have a lot of confidence in crankbaits but I haven't fished this lake in conditions anywhere near this before so I don't really know what to do. I figure I'm probably going to try and find an area where the channel swings in close to the shore with some cover and fish it slow with plastics and a rattling jig in bright colors. If that doesn't work I might try to fish some places where I've always thought to myself "Man, if the water was up above that, a bass would sit right there." I don't know if they'll be up in there with the water being as cold as it is but I've always wanted to fish some of those areas with the water over them, so maybe I'll get my chance. Looks like a high of around 48 degrees both days. Hope the water is at least that warm, preferabbly warmer.

How would you fish these conditions?
Thanks...I'll let you know for sure. Would you fish it any differently because of the water being up so high? Last year it was kept low for some maintenance and probably hasn't been this high in at least 2 years, maybe more...so there is cover and vegetation under water that hasn't been for a long time. Would you target some of this? If so, what would you look for?

How would you fish these conditions?
About a 9,000 acre reservoir with water temps around 47-50 on Sunday (assuming your fishing it the following weekend). Monday and Tuesday there is a chance of rain/snow > and highs in the lower 40s. Wednesday and Thursday temps are in the 40's and Friday and Saturday temps are going to be around 48-50. The lake is very very muddy from lots of recent rain, and is 3 feet above summer pool, or about 7 feet above winter pool (or normal for this time of year). Where would you even start? Look for the warmest possible water? What colors, techniques, baits would you try to use in the muddy water with those water temps? Any certain kind of structure you might look for? I am going to be fishing 2 days this week under those conditions and have no clue where to even begin. :-/ Any help would be appreciated greatly.

PREDICT your '06 hawg
I am going to say in the 6lb. range. My PB ever is 5lb. 10 oz. and I have quite a few trips planned this year so I'm hoping (hope being the key word) that I can get a new PB. I am going to El Salto in June so I will probably be able to break it there, but as LBH said about Fork, I don't know if I'll count El Salto. My current PB would be lunch for some of the bass in that lake.

Being in the DOG HOUSE
A man called home to his wife and said, "Honey I have been asked to go fishing up in Canada with my boss & several of his friends. We'll be gone for a week. This is a good opportunity for me to get that promotion I've been wanting, so could you please pack enough clothes for a week and set out my rod and fishing box? We're leaving from the office & I will swing by the house to pick my things up" "Oh! Please pack my new blue silk pajamas." The wife thinks this sounds a bit fishy but being the good wife she is, did exactly what her husband asked. The following weekend he came home a little tired but otherwise looking good. The wife welcomed him home and asked if he caught many fish? He said, "Yes! Lots of Salmon, some Smallmouth, and a few Bluegill. But why didn't you pack my new blue silk pajamas like I asked you to do?" The wife replied, "I did. They're in your fishing box." ;D ;D ;D ;D

Good question, I don't know the answer to that either. I have used my cruise while towing several times, but now that you ask, I am curious too?

Boat Covers
For those of you who have boat covers, where did you get them (if they didn't come with your boat)? I am wanting one that I can leave on while I tow as well as for storage. Would having one made be the best thing to do or do the ones that Bass Pro or other places sell really fit most boats well enough to work. I am skeptical of buying one of these from bass pro because of all the options and not wanting to get one that doesn't work real well. However, I'm sure having one made would be WAY more expensive. Has anyone bought one from Bass Pro or somewhere else? How has it worked for you? I can't really just go to a dealer because I have a Javelin and they aren't made anymore. Any ideas?
