    Hello and Welcome Mike
  2. Just as well as in a lake, river canal or ditch. The size or shape doesn't matter. Mike
  3. I'd sleep in the boat for that one ! ?? Mike
  4. To me what you're asking is the very definition of being able to Improvise, Overcome and Adapt to everything around you. You got some great advise with that underlying message. There is no one correct answer I wish there were. Mike

  9. When in a tournament we are always looking for beds. When we spot one I've had boaters spend over an hour trying to bag her while I'm junk fishing off the back. A few times I've had boaters give me a chance up front before we leave to look for another if he can't get her to bite. If fun fishing alone or with someone else I'll always stop to make a few cursory casts, and then move on. Mike
  10. Ditto To me it's just plain wrong to kill a fish just to hang it on a wall. But that's just me. Others I'm sure will strongly disagree. Mike
  11. Here is my regularly scheduled defense of Flouro line (sorry @Angry John ?) Other than doing something different than what you always have when tying, or you happened to get a bad spool..reload and try a different knot as John said just for the heck of it but I don't think that's your problem. The knot that Swindle uses is very popular. I'd bet you are making a week spot when cinching. I use flouro for everything except frogging and punching and wouldn't even consider changing. Mike

Congratulations Tom! Good for you! Now go watch a sunrise, take a nap, watch a sunset and go to bed. ? Mike
  13. I'm past all that "new and improved" thing. It took me years to accumulate what I have now. Some I had to wait to buy because what I wanted I couldn't afford at the time. But now If I need something new it's only to replace something that can't be repaired or improved upon. Mike
  14. The thinking is the Palomar should be used for braid because of the slickness of it. It's supposed to hold better than all others but that's not necessarily true. All the others you mentioned, and many more are personal choice. Personnaly I use just 3. Palomar for braid unless I'm punching mat's or in heavy cover, then I snell. For Flouro (which is the only other line I use) I like the SDJ. Just keep in mind No knot is good enough unless it's tied right. Mike
  15. Don't worry about what your boater is doing unless he's on a distinct pattern. Fish your strengths and your water. Don't press and be ready to Improvise, Overcome and Adapt to any change. Good Luck Mike
  16. Totally agree. But don't think that will ever happen. When B.A.S.S. and FLW start to mandate them for all thier tournament tiers..BASS Nation, BFL, TBF, HS, College (which I think they already do) etc. that would be a great start that may have an effect. Mike

Standard sized RI Skinny Dippers and Big EZ's. Depending on what I need from them at any given time. Mike
  18. I read somewhere that it does depending on its size but it takes a long time. Very long time Mike

  23. You don't know...Nobody does. If we did there'd be no need to invest time on the water which is the only way you'll find out. Theres no magic to it. If in open water I'll throw jerks, cranks, traps etc. In shallow it's plastics of every kind, shape and size until I get bit. Use what you know and how to use it. If they are where you're at, you'll find out soon enough. Mike
