  1. Hello and Welcome back Mike
  2. I'm going to fish there for the first time tomorrow and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about how and where to start. Is one area better than another etc? I don't expect your honey holes, just a general idea and any suggestions you can give. Thanks Mike
  3. If you want to travel down to the Big O let me know. Mike
  4. Excellent! I've fished with and against Juan for years, and he is spot on. As mostly a co angler now, I wish all boaters understood and followed this. Mike
  5. Exactly! Size of the boat, size of the motor, driver skill, location, and more importantly than them all is just plain common sense. When that lake starts to roll be ready, and don't forget it's just fishin. Mike
  6. You're exactly right! Mike
  7. Of Course.. But there weren't card readers at gas stations or grocery stores.. Or the internet... Or ATM's... All the technology we have to worry about now that didn't exist then. You know what I meant Mike
  8. As easy as our lives have become with all the new technology we have, Its times like these that I wish it was still 1955. Mike
  9. If you're gonna punch, a short compact plastic with few apendenges will be your best option. D Bomb, Why Not, Sweet Beaver etc. You can use a punch skirt if you like also for added bulk. The one A Jay makes as Tom mentioned is a great setup. Mike
  10. Its close to the color but the most success I've ever have with a swimbait is a Houdini RI Skinny Dipper. They love those shiners down here too. Mike
  11. 7" Junebug Fat Max ribbon tail. Dont remember the exact weight but her mouth looked bigger than a toilet bowl!!?? Mike
  12. Hello, Welcome and Thank You for your service. Mike
  13. Too many options to list. IMHO Any high speed reel (7.1+) with a quality drag that will balance your rod of choice will work just fine. Mike
  14. Hello and Welcome Mike
  15. I fish tournaments as a co angler all year round. If I cash does that make me "good"? If I win does that make me better than the last one? If I zero does that mean I'm worse than I thought? What's my point?...All 3 Mike
  16. It's not a bait but I have one of the original Johnson Century 100 reels. It was only produced for 1 yr (1958 I think) before the drag was redesigned and designated 100A. When I started teaching my first grandson how to fish he came across it in the blue velvet bag from a bottle of Crown Royal I keep it in. He opened it and said "what's this one Papa"? I said "don't worry about it. You'll end up getting it eventually" Even now at 24 he still asks about it. Mike
  17. Just learn to flip or pitch with either hand. You'll probably catch more fish anyway. ? Mike
  18. May God Bless him and may he Rest In Peace Mike
  19. Mike L replied to Jon burrows's topic in Fishing Tackle
"Flipping" hooks are marketed by having a bait keeper built into them which helps to keep the plastic attached when flipping or pitching into heavy cover or punching. I'm sure that's his point. But it it doesn't matter Your buddy lost. Mike
  20. May she Rest In Peace
  21. Ditto... When I want to walk a frog I use the original Scum in green pepper. After a lot of practice, I can walk that thing in place. Mike
  22. Agree with Fishballer and Bull. The Loomis GLX MBR line is what you want. I have the 843C and it can do almost everything on the lighter side. For most heavier presentations the GLX 844C is next up Mike
