  1. I've been useing a Phenix 7'2" M1 and really like it. Mike
  2. Skim a frog, texas rigged fluke, [use a swivel] swim bait etc. right over the top of it, pause every few feet and drop into hole's. Once you come off the mat, let it sink to the bottom, twitch a few times and continue to work it back. Mike
  3. Same... Mike
  4. IMHO, the Sig Series is an excellent reel that does not get the love or respect it deserves. It's one of the best reels in the 150.00 range you can buy. Maybe because it a BPS model that just isn't in the mainstream thinking when someone is looking for a quaility product. It's just a tad bulkier than other's, but lighter than you would expect, including the PQ. Mike

  11. May we never forget those who died to insure that we'll allways be able fish free and to tell everyone about it. To all of you in uniform, Please look around and find my Dad. He'll be the one with the most blisters on his hands, the most worry lines on his face, and the biggest smile. Give him a hug for me... May God Bless You All! Mike
  12. IMHO... Allways use a loop knot for walking on top or jerk bait's. Any type of lure that you want an erractict action for. Mike
  13. Swim bait's should work especially wel if the grass is a foot or so from the top. I fish them as I would a lipless crank, just tick it off the tops of the grass jerking it hard when you feel the grass and letting it sink a lttle in any holes. Good Luck Mike

  16. I only use the standard green 20# Power Pro on spinning gear, have for years. Thought about going lighter but given the diameter of the 20 I really don't see the need to. Mike
  17. If the fish is bleeding, just pour a little down it's throut. The citrus acid act's as a clotting agent and will stop the bleeding. Mike
  18. Just a few I thought of... *Clean your hands after touching anything that will get transferred to your soft plastics... * Shutdown the big motor way before you reach where you want to fish and coast in... * Keep the trolling motor on, especially in real skinny water if you can. Constantly turning on and off can spook em... * If fishing from a boat without a carpet, be real carefull about dropping things... * Scent is not only for soft plastics... * Don't be afraid to retie often, (I allways retie after the 3 rd catch) * Always have a bottle [not a can] of Sprite or 7 Up with you, to stop bleeding if a fish is gut hooked. * Have plenty of ice on board for the live well... Mike
  19. When I went Pike and Walleye fishing in Canada a few years back the owner of the lodge we stayed at told us to pick up a hat with a net because thats the only thing that would keep the black flies from making us crazy. We brought 3 different kinds of repelent thinking we had it covered...We were wrong, he was right. Sometimes you just gotta cover up. Mike
  20. Agree about size and the skip gap. Which is the only style of hook I use anymore. Mike
  21. Depending on conditioins where I throw, either 12# Yo Zuri or most times 15# Invisix Mike
  22. The ones I use most are in worm binder also, the one's I don't are in a small spinner bait box from Plano. It fits nicely in one of the pockets of my bag. Mike
