  1. Thanks Brian..Good Info Mike
  2. Never used it but I assume it's a floro line, hence the name...If it is I use the San Diego Jam knot for all lines except braid. Mike
  3. Best 100.00 reel [regular price] you can buy...Period Mike
  4. Black Watermelon Mike
  5. I really dont like the hardness of the Spro. I always inspect them really close to be sure the hooks are just barely laying on the body not tight to it. If they are I open them up a little. The weight and action of both are pretty close but I think the popper stlye of the KVD spits a lot more. One tip always squeeze them after a few cast's to get any water out, especially if it get's pulled down after a missed hit. I tend to throw the Scum frog more often. Mike
  6. For Skakey heads i use the Spot Remover. I throw flukes on a mh/f spinning rig with 20# braid and a 10# floro leader. Shakey heads allways with 15# floro, but thinking of downsizing to 10 or 12. Mike
  7. Yep... Mike
  8. I've always made my own, kinda old school in too many ways 1/3 Anise and 2/3 baby oil. Gotta try that Megastrike Mike
  9. I do the same... Mike
  10. Joe When i started to really get serious about it, which is a necessity down here, I too found it a little ackward also. Thats natural as we're so tuned into chucking and winding, that now you're into pin point placement, it can mess with your mind a little. Just practice as much as you can. The key to whole thing is keeping the bait low so the entry into the water is as quiet as you can make it. Good Luck, You'll get it. Mike ,
  11. Getting back to the question... After bringing the lure through the loop, pull both ends to consolidate the knot. Pull the mainline to snug the knot to the lure. Pull tag end only to tighten, which would leave very little waste. Cut tag end to preferrence. Mike
  12. IMHO, If you like the Fenwick line which I do, look for a new [if you can find one] or used Techna AV and buy that. I know you won't be disappointed. Mike
  13. Yep... It doesn't matter useing spinning or baitcasting. For any type of bottom contact finesse technique I use a floro leader with a braid mainline. Mike
  14. I also use the small Norman Speed clip's as Bob. They're not the easiest to use if you have fat fingers or if your fingers are froze, but I think they work the best for fast changes, and do not alter the action. Mike
  15. What I do with especially the harder body frog like a spro is really check the hook placement in relation to how it sits on the body. More times than not, I open the hook's a litlle with a pair of plairs so the hook is opened a little. And yes, if I'm in really heavy slop, it will pick some up but to me the advantage out weigh it. With a soft body like a scum it's not necessary. Mike
  16. When I "need" to use braid I use 50#. If not which is most of the time, I use my jog rod which has 20# floro. Mike
  17. You're a lucky man! Mike
  18. Somebody would have to give me mouth to mouth...Whew!! Mike
  19. Excellent post WRB! Mike
  20. NO don't give up on them. After a frog once I hit the water, I allways throw a chatter next..Allway's. In tounaments or just putzin around. I use the Booyah because I like the flexible hook shaft and just the way they're made. I tried the Z Man years ago but my hook up ratio went straight up after i switched. Anyway, the way I fish is I let it sink to the bottom...hold a few seconds then rip it up...let it fall back and rip it again, then reel back with a few hard jerks periodically all the way back. Favorite color is white/chart with a white trailer. The trailers that come with them are fine, but I really like cutting the head off of a white skinny dipper, especially throwing over grass fields and letting it drop every so often. Sometimes a slow steady retrieve or a burn it type retrieve will get hit, just depends on the thier mood. What I've also found is that a chatter is a great follow up lure if a spinnerbait or crank bite slows. Good Luck Mike
  21. Agree with Mark... They can turn on again as quick as they turned off.... Change baits, retrieve, color, cadense, time of day, go deeper, go shallower, drag, swim etc They're still there, just keep at it. Mike
  22. 20# Invisix or 50# braid... Mike
  23. Pretty much covers it for me... Mike
  24. This... Mike
