  1. Allstar ASR Jig rod.. Mike
  2. I'm happy with what I use but I'd like to ask, what is the "Bob Sands Knot"? Never heard of that one. Mike
  3. All excellent advise... The only thing I can add is look hard at the hooks and how they lay on the frog. On most that I use I open them a just little so the the point is just barely resting on the body. I do get hung up some if I'm pulling it through very thick pads and trying to hit small spaces between them, but overall it has helped. Also to me the pause is it.! When it hits the water on the initail cast don't move it right away. Let it sit till all the ripples settle, then just twitch enough to turn the nose. pause again then start your jerk, pause cadence. Mike
  4. 20# braid with 15# floro leader on a spinning rod. uni - uni knot. Mike
  5. To me the key with snaps is they MUST be the locking kind. Duolock are the most popular but there are others. I use Norman speed locks. Do a seach here for them I think someone posted a picture a while back or go to bps site. The only problem with those is if you have fat fingers they're harder to open. Mike
  6. Rod loading is key as Hooligan said. Use the lightest tip rod you have b/c or spinning. Mike
  7. A couple of H. Upmann's, sunscreen, bug spray, frozen water bottles, wide brim hat, toggs, and a buff. It gets freakin hot down her! Mike
  8. I got one of those at thier spring sale and you're right that is a one smooth reel. I was thinking about getting a PQ because of all the comments about it I've been reading here, but I do love that carbon black...Hmmm Mike
  9. I've used braid for every kind of technique except cranks. For me it's best anytime I'm in the slop.. Mike
  10. Great Job! Welcome Mike
  11. Trust me ...It will Welcome..You've come to the right place. Mike
  12. I just made the switch to the Reverse Clinch or also called the San Diego Jam for f/c. I can tie that thing faster than the Palomar. and it HOLD'S. Someone was kind enough to post a video somewhere on here on how to tie it. Do a search and try that one. Mike
  13. I haven't personally used any of those but a friend of mine just bought the Caius last week and he really like it. It cast's smooth, but he felt it was a little heavy. If you can, bring your rod and feel the balance before you buy. Mike
  14. I tried the Norman Speed Clips once and they worked great. The problem is they are hard to open with fat fingers! If I knew how to post a link on this thing I would Mike
  15. No.. The Alberto or Albright are small enough that it won't hang up. If you use a rod with micro guides it may if you load up on the turns with a heavier # leader. Mike
  16. I love the Scum Frog. It's very soft and doesn't take on any more water than the others. I don't have to open up the hooks as much as I do a Spro Mike
  17. I tried that thing one time...it was the last. Mike
  18. Hey BuoyFrency There is, it's the "Everything Else Forum" it's near the bottom of the forums list. Mike
  19. Fenwick and Falcon... I gotta get me one of those St. Croix rods just to see what you guy's keep talking about. Mike
