  1. 50#… .0118 in 65#… .014 in 80#… .017 in Mike
  2. Yep, a lot of things in fishing are that way. In Florida we call reeds, well……reeds but in California they’re called Tules. Never heard that until I signed on here and haven’t heard it used since. To me and everyone I know a lipless hard bait is a trap, but some guy I met thought it was just what you get your foot caught in! Lately I’ve noticed some on here call tournaments a Derby! I thought a Derby was just a hat or a horse race. Mike
  3. Fishing down here for over 40 yrs and never heard it called Maidencane. It’s a good day, I learned something! Mike
  4. In more ways than one! Mike
  5. When pulling up to a grassy area always try to look for and work every isolated patch fist. Cast or pitch all around it trying different angles each time before throwing into the middle of it Work it about 1/2 way back, pull and repeat. Mike
  6. All you Dad’s have a great time today and always remember our own! Mike
  7. Ditto Give it a rest, move on and come back in an hour or so, if they’re resident fish she’ll be back. If not it could be the area, not a specific spot that holds they’re interest for whatever reason and others could be moving in and out all day. Mike
  8. @Koz Good for you!! You should be commended for all your time and efforts working with kids and giving them a fishing life lesson. Also, the best of luck fishing the Opens, Toyota Series and the MFL and B.A.S.S circuits. As I’ve mentioned before, also I fish those as a co angler and have for years. I certainly know the time, effort and monetary commitment involved to be competitive and it sure helps to have a major sponsor. Best of luck moving forward in all your commitments Mike
  9. I use 12# to 20# on a MH/F and XF. Sunline Sniper on the low end and Shooter on the high end Mike
  10. We tape everything we can so we can blow right past them Mike
  11. That’s the thing about rarely fished anything down here..Ya just never know Good Job!! Mike
  12. The old tooth pick trick deforms the line too much especially when using mono. A bobber stop or the rubber peg stopper is easier and much more effective. The advantage of the peg stopper is that it allows you to peg a weight anywhere you choose on the line. You can do the same with a bobber stop but you have to place one on both ends of the weight to hold it in place. Mike
  13. When punching as tight as I can get it. Depending on the weight and cover sometimes I use 2. Mike
  14. As was said..Ignore that and never read anything that person writes again. Except for 3, all my combo’s are flouro from 12# to 25# and have no complaints Mike
  15. Assuming I’m not sight fishing, always start with a Magnum UV Speed Worm… If a smaller profile is needed then a Rage Cut R before I change direction. I use them as search bait. When switching to bottom contact, Rage Bug or full sized Brush Hog depending on cover. Mike
  16. I get it Confidence in most anything is everything, especially in bass fishing Mike
  17. Try a Magnum Speed Worm with a 3/16 the next time you come down. You’ll thank me Mike
  18. There seems to be more “unwritten rules” about Frog fishing than any other technique. * Best only first thing in the morning * Hardly ever in open water * Almost never in deep water * Cast as far back as you can and work your way out * Bite dies when the sun gets over the trees When it’s on it’s on. Make it a staple of your rotation regardless of what seems “usual” Mike
  19. Or the Anaconda. The wider top section coupled with the tapered tail gives it a unique action. Mike
  20. The only stick bait that is part of my usual rotation in close quarters is a 5” Berkeley General. Most times tho I’ll only use it as a follow up, never really as a primary offering in those conditions Mike
  21. The more fish you lose because you didn’t set the hook, the more you’ll learn when to set the hook. Mike
  22. There is no “best” that anyone can tell you. Like anything else You have to take in consideration the whole package you’re using…Rate of fall, depth of the water, rod and line combo, bottom structure, cover etc. There isn’t one answer to cover all the variables One isn’t more important than the other. Mike
  23. Aldebaren Whiskey Mike
