  1. 4, 13, 16, 82, 94 used to live in TN awhile back now I live in Ohio. 4 is less than 5 minutes from my house.
  2. I have been reading reviews about these rods which are mixed at best. Does anyone have any experience with this new rod? I am currently switching all my rods over from Veritas and looking for a good square bill and shallow cranking rod.
  3. I agree Abu has great products but I feel that I am paying for their name and reputation more than the product itself. The Revo S at best is a $100 and the SX a $130. As for rods I love the Villain and probably buy a couple more. However when it comes to the lower end rods (Veritas and Vendetta) they just don't seem to have the same quality. When the first veritas came out they were snapping like crazy now that is fixed but the guides are bad. Every one I have they are bent or over glued. The blanks are great just don't like that for $100 I'm not getting a well crafted rod. With all that said would I buy another Veritas later down the road yes.
  4. I love the Shimano Clarus for any cranking or reaction type fishing and sensitive enough for plastics $79.99
  5. Thank you When I reposted over here there was no answer on the question and I needed it answer kind of quick because I have to get them shipped today.
  6. Correct I have no problem with Abu I just feel why should I pay more for a product if I can get the same performances out of another product from a different manufacture for a lesser price. The only problem with Abu I had was with the guides either being bent or over glued. I know this is from the manufacture because I have gotten Veritas from Bass Pro, Wal-Mart online and Tackle Warehouse all the same issues. It didn't cause problems I just bent the guides back if needed. And I will buy more Abu products in the future if it suits my needs just not all my combos are going to be Abu.
  7. BPS never mentioned the rebated on the Lexa yesterday to me I am going today to get a couple Type-Rs so I will take my receipt in and try to get them to give me the paperwork also if BPS wants more than $165 for the Type-R I will be coming to you
  8. I am not bad mouthing Abu Garcia at all I am still a fan the Revo line of reels. My only intentions was to write a post to show that I was brand loyal to Abu. And decided to see what else was out there and found that you can get rods and reels from different manufactures for the same price if not cheaper that performs the same as the high end Abu lines. And as for Shimano I have had three Shimano reels and could not stand them they reeled like s**t and I could hear the hear grinding straight out of the box. I was just trying to help other anglers out there looking for products that don't cost an arm and a leg
  9. I don't know if I posted my original thread in the proper section so I posted a link to it in here could someone please help me out? http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/128683-shipping-rods/
  10. I have a couple rods I made that I am giving a family member that lives in another state. The rods are 7ft. Does anyone know where I can get tubes or boxes to fit these rods so I can ship them off? Also, is there other materials used instead of cardboard that you use? I don't want to pay a ton on shipping.
  11. you can get a sellus at bass pro in store or online. just a warning the tip of the Sellus is very thin and break easily
  12. I love the Veritas, the stiffness was a plus to me. However I was starting to get a little frustrated with the poor guided build on every rod every rod I own has some kind of guide malfunction weather they are bent when I bought them or have to much epoxy or whatever they use to station their guides.
  13. I own 8 rods spinning and casting combined all Revo SX paired on Veritas I felt for years Abu Garcia was the best company out there and defended it until I was blue in the face. But I was in the market for a new spin and cast combo so I decided to look at other rods and reels while I was at BPS last night and I couldn't believe what I found in Daiwa reels. WOW! Are those reels smooth, I ended up saving cash and buying a Legalis reel and it is heavier than the Revo S spinning reel I was looking at but it is a hell of a lot smoother for a $59.95 to $129.95 comparison. And as for the Casting reel I just loved the Daiwa Lexa 100, again heavier but a lot smoother than the SX) and the Lexa was on sale for $99.99 compared to the $159.99 tag on the SX couldn't beat it. When I get off work I am buying 2 of the Tatula Type-Rs. As for rods for these reels I had to look at new rods now that I found better (to me) reels. After looking at a few brands I found that the sensitive, action, and power in the Shimano rods are superior to the veritas rods I use. I ended up buying a Clarus spinning rod and Compre casting rod. It seems to me (some one with more knowledge can help me with this) the Clarus is more sensitive than the Compre. Anyway I have been rambling sorry for such a long post just wanted to let people who are in the market that some products under $100 are comparable if not better than the three digit equipment you really just pay for the name.
  14. I fish from the bank and would love a forum dedicated to us fisherman. Some of the tips and advice I read on here from boaters are helpful but the majority does not help in the way I fish. Being able to click one link and have all my questions asked and answered would be helpful.
  15. On my lake there is one spot I always go to (if it is not already taken) I usually fish it for 45 mins then move on. In those 45 mins I catch anywhere from 7-12 fish from 2 1/2 - 4 lbers. The bad part is that everyone on the lake knows the area and we fight over the sport. A lipless crank with a stop and go retrieve would put so much fish in your boat it is truly unbelievable. P.S. It has been this way for about three years now.
  16. Hi guys, just stumbled on this thread. I am from Toledo. I was just wondering if anyone new of some good lakes over here in the West. I fish Oxbow lake (Defiance). I have never left that lake without hitting 10-20 bass and they are all usually 2-4lbers. I also like Harrison lake (Wauseon) but it is very hit and miss when fishing from, shore. Ohio Dave, your right the lakes in Castalia has good fishing. I assume you fish pond #8 have you tried #6 or #11 those ponds are kayak only waters and have nice size bass in them as well? After reading this I am planning a weekend trip to Akron area this spring to fish Magadore and Portage lakes. But if anybody has info on good shore fishing for either largies or smallies in the northwest besides Erie I would love to hear about it.
  17. I like to fish reservoirs a lot but the res by my house really aren't the best. I recently heard about the continental reservoir and that they put on a fishing derby every year. I am not interested in the fishing derby since they dump catfish in special for it. I was just wondering if anyone has fished it other than the derby and how is the bass fishing in it?
  18. we both have gmail. when I originally signed up here it wouldn't let me use it, and it still won't let him use his gmail account.
  19. what are examples of a "non free" email account
  20. I have a budd that would like to sign up here and join in the conversations here. The only problem is that when he tries to he can't because he has the wrong type of email address. He has, like me a gmail and aol account. But unlike him I am in school andI was able to use my school address to sign up. Can I get an example of some email accounts that he can use to sign up here since the two accounts he has does not work. Also I am graduating this spring and would also like to know how to delete my account because they are deleteing my email account and will not be able to log in.
  21. I apologize for the confusion I fixed the error in my original post. I have fished the lake once or twice when I was younger but that was in a boat with my uncle, but since I am on my own stuck on shore I was looking for spots that people know about for big bass.
  22. I went to the Defiance Reservoir today which was a waste of a day. I got kicked out and only caught 2 and 3 lb bass. But anyway the security guard that kicked me out told me to go to Oxbow Lake. I have heard of this place (fished it once or twice a very long time ago) being very popular and have seen lunkers pulled out of there. So I decided to get directions to the lake and check it out. By the time I got there I had to turn around and go back to college for a meeting, so all I could do is scout it. My question is has anybody been there before and fished from shore, if so were are some of the popular spots? The lake is bigger than my normal fishing lakes and I don't have a boat so I am looking for good spots for largemouth that I can get to from the shore.
  23. OK so on my way to the Reservoir I went and picked up a white spinner to go along with my other two. But the reservoir itself wasn't what I hoped for. They had two boat ramps built but no parking lot or driveway to get in. I had to park on the side of the road and walk a little over a half of a mile down a dirt path to get to the lake. Finally when I got there my girlfriend and I were the only two on the water. I was there about an hour when a park ranger came up to us and kicked us out saying that the only people that are allowed to fish the reservoir now are the people that work at the treatment plant and guests that are with them. But in that hour I caught a 2 and a 3 lb largemouth and my girlfriend caught a 1.5 lb largemouth. I caught my two on the white spinner she caught her's on a T-rigged Junebug YUM Dinger. In closing I'm not sure when they will open it to the public or even get a road and parking lot in to the boat ramps but the fish are in there and biting.
