  1. Thanks guys ill look at the Tatula Type R, I have the normal tatula and love it. Im not a big fan of centrifugal brake system. That is he only thing keeping me fom the Curado I. I do like the dual brake system and mag brakes I'll look at the Chronarch haven't really looked at those. I have been a huge fan of the Revos I have 2 of the gen 3 SX and like them.
  2. I have my options narrowed down to either a BPS Carbonlite reel or an Abu Garcia STX. I can afford both and have lived previous versions of both reels. I like the STX comes in 8.0:1 since this will be a jig and frog reel. But I don't know of the extra $70 is worth it for faster gears. I would love to hear everyone's opinion I am also considering the Curado I but I wish it was more than a centrifugal brake system.
  3. Awesome thanks I've been intrigued with the new 13 reels I've heard mixed reviews on them
  4. Please help need a new high gear ratio reel for frog firing. I got $200 anything but shimano. If you can suggest a reel cheaper than $200 I would be appreciative. Thanks
  5. x2 I don't were in Ohio you live but I live in OH as well. I can say I fish half the time on clear lakes and half in stained. Majority of my stained lake fishing is on Lake Erie. I can produce bigger fish in stain but I love sight fishing and watching that fish take the bait excites the he** out of me.
  6. I have a secret area just like the one you are saying. I never asked permission to fish it because yes it is on the company's property but the pond was made when they widened the highway in front of the building. I catch most of my biggest fish out there. I have became friends with the President of the company that the pond sits on. He told me that although he owns the land the state owns the pond from making the highway and that he didn't even know there were fish in it. No he has became my fishing buddy out there and we r the only two who has ever fished the pond. I also fish ponds, like you said, that are made from construction. I never asked for permission to fish these ever (UNLESS there is a no fishing sign).
  7. I agree with Hatrix, Daiwa is my go to reel of choice the Revo would be my next choice. With that budget get a Revo Premier or STX. Daiwa you can get the Tatula or my favorite the Zillion. I have never been a fan of Shimano and I have owned a few of them.
  8. I do not finesse fish with casting gear. That is left up to spinning gear. I have been able to throw 1.0 on my tatula now. I was looking at the Tatula Type-R. I played with my buddies reel yesterday and I believe I am picking up a Lews BB1. I was able to get some distance with a 1.0 and absolutely bomb the 1.5.
  9. Yes it was Monster Tackle I picked up some baits from the sale just no reels.
  10. I just learned that the hard way lol
  11. I will look into the Chronarch. I was planning a STX, Type- R and even Curado I because I can get them for $149.99, $144.99 and $129.99 respectively. I went to Bass Pro just to feel them and see which one I liked better then the Salesman threw a wrench at me. I may have a weird way of thinking but seeing a gentleman in his 50s or 60s working at BPS I assume he is knowledgeable with fishing and the products.
  12. Thank you, I use a Tatula 100 for my 1.5s now but am switching the reel over to become mostly a spinnerbait reel. So now I need a reel that will be a crankbait workhorse. I throw, like I said, 1.5 mostly with 1.0 mixed in and also like the 1/2oz Xcalibur lipless from time to time. I am really looking for a reel that can handle all three applications. I am currently a co angler and use 6 rods. It is hard to get a rod for every application. I will be putting it on a M crankbait rod.
  13. I just posted a thread about whether I should buy a Tatula Type-R or a Revo STX. However I was just talking to a guy at Bass Pro and he told me that both reels are for big, heavy baits. I am looking for a reel I can crank 1/4oz to 1/2oz baits no problem because 99% of the cranks I throw are the KVD 1.0 or 1.5. If those two reels are too much for those little of baits, what reel would you all recommend. The salesman told me to get a Curado I but I heard that those are not good for smaller baits. Any input would be beneficial.
  14. I know that if I were to get a Type-R I would get the 6.3 and 8.0.
  15. Sexy Shad and Gizzard Shad are pretty much the only two colors in my tackle box.
  16. Thanks guys for all the help but I went with what JGBassInAL suggested and am now on the Denali Pro Staff. So I am now in the process of selling off all my other rods to covert fully over to Denali. Thank You to all!!!
  17. Thanks A lot!!! It would be great to help get them more exposure especially in my area.
  18. Do you know how I go about applying for their pro staff.
  19. I was kinda leaning towards the Veritas 2.0 Winch, Lamiglas, or Denali J2. But I'm favoring the Veritas 2.0 a little more.
  20. This is how I learned the Shakey Head presentation. But I have found that more and more people are moving to stiffer rods, bigger jig heads, and larger line. Why? I don't know but the MH Jadewood was made specifically for shakey head and works amazing.
  21. I heard the ***'s spinning rod wasn't as good as the casting rod build wise.
  22. I noticed the MH and ML rods from Abu no matter what line seem stiffer than they should.
