  1. In the paintint I layed out a rough map of a pond I fish in the summer. During the spawn I catch consistant 4-7# bass however once the spawn in over the rest of the year those big bass do not bite. A 2# is a big fish in the summer and fall. As You can see the pond is man made and shaped as a horseshoe. the main "arms" are roughly 150 yds the width is roughly 10 yds. The right side of the pond was dug into a "V" shape with the the deepest channel at 11' but average water depth is 6' the left side is shallower and built in a "U" shape. The deepest part 8' and the average water depth is 4'. The middle of the of the water is a row of vegitation the runs down the center of the pond all the way around. The vegitation comes about 2' from the surface. There are isolated docks built all over the pond. One of the corners in the backof the canal gets overgrown with alge. Water clearity is about 3'. I have tried cranks, jigs, flip, shaky, jerkbiat, spinnerbait. These are TONS of bluegill and small frogs in the pond as well. I cant get those big ones to hit other than the spawn. How would you try to locate these fish and were and what would you start?
  2. I have both rods. I use the Villain a lot more that me Veritas. When comparing the Villain is lighter and more sensitive but the big factor for me is the Villain has a more true rating. Their M feels like a M and MH feels like a MH. To me Veritas rods seem to be a little stiffer than their rating.
  3. Every worm Fishog offers. They are extremely inexpensive and works fantastic. I also love the BioSpawn Plasma Tail and ExoStick
  4. one of my pet peeves is when all stick baits are categorized as senkos.
  5. I can say that the Castastic BD squarebills are probably the best cranks at the $7 price. I may try the $7 LC again. But those Boyd Duckett baits are good. I was just curious of the price drop.
  6. That's the reason I do NOT use senkos. I use Fishog stick bait. The look identical and lasts about 3 to 4 fish and $4 a pack.
  7. Anything that is by River2Sea is great by me. I understand completely. Jerkbaits were my go to baits then I started using other things and went about 2 years without picking a jerkbait up again.
  8. I have been saying for the last two years I am going to build confidence in my jig fishing but every year I cant put the shaky head and crankbait down.
  9. I have slowly faded away from BPS since they are fading out name brand (in my store less than a 5 minute drive) and pushing BPS brand more and more on people. I wish the Cabelas wasn't over an hour away.
  10. I seemed like if u got up at 6 am u could watch a solid 3 to 4 hours of replay fishing shows all year round. Now it is 24/7 hunting even January through June.
  11. The best thing to do when starting out is read, read, read. That's what I did when I started out.
  12. Reply back to what in the fishing industry do u want to try whether rod, reel, bait, technique. For my list Rods: St. Croix Reels: Okuma Baits: More plastics chatterbaits and jigs Techniques: Flippin/Pitching, finesse and swim jig.
  13. I am not complaining about the price drop, I was curious what they were doing differently to make them cheaper. I found the KVD 1.5 to not be consistent. There quality control seems pretty low. I switched to mainly using Bomber or River2Sea baits. Their quality control seems very consistent.
  14. When Lucky Craft had the Rick Clunn Squarebill and even the Tak Omari Squarebills I paid $13+ per crankbiat. Now that a pro is not backing the squarebill line they are $7. If this me over analyzing or was Lucky Craft using pro names to get more money? I seen all the pro backed baits are still $14 but the squarebill and popper are not associated with a pro and are $7.
  15. 7' MH Rosewood Spinnerbait rod
  16. I loved the gold version and the black version. I still own a couple of the black ones. I think once she's used to it she will be fine.
  17. Last summer I was in the market for a couple new casting reels and was interested in Pinnacle. Like you I could not find anything on these but I bit the bullet and bought an Optimus LTE. I was so impressed with the reel I swapped my Gen 3 Revo SX I had with them (same price point reels). Thay are extremly smooth and can cast miles. The only reel i have found better than the Optimus LTE was the ***. I say if you like them get one. They defiantly fly under the radar with most people. You can get the Producer XT Spinning Reel for $72 at TW as well.
  18. Exactly right. I have a $100 gift card to BPS so I was looking an seen the Mojo. The only downside is when I just went to handle one the guys in the fishing department refused to allow me to put reels on the rod to find on I liked. I hate my area Bass Pro. But it is ok I have all winter to find the right reel.
  19. What is your opinion on the St Croix Mojo Bass. I never used a St Croix rod before.
  20. Thanks for all the replays everyone I got her talked into a new carbonlite reel. I wanted to get her the Pro Qualifier but she likes white reels.
  21. That's one combo I do not own. I think that might be the combo I add. I have been drop shotting on my MH shaky head setup since we fish Lake Erie a few times out of the year. But would a 7' ML work? I would have a really hard time hauling a 7'6" in my vehicle, a 7' is tough enough. Also any suggestion on Reel (not a shimano fan)?
  22. Looking for some advice on whether my next combo should be a spin or a cast setup. What I currently run as a back seated. 6'9" Denali Kovert Crank/ 5.1 *** For Crankbaits 7' Abu Villain M/ 6:1 Revo S For Crankbaits, Jerkbaits, Top water 7' Denali Rosewood Spinneebait/7:1 Quantum Smoke For Spinnerbait and Buzzbait 6'10" Kistler Pro MH/6:1 Lews Tourny Pro Lipless Cranks and Spinneebaits 7' Denali Rosewood Frog/7:1 BPS PQ Frogs, Jigs, Punch 6'9" Denali J2 MH/Lews Speed Spin Worms and Shaky Head I'm superstitious and need to have 7 combos with me on the boat. What would your 7th be. I have multiple combos from m to mh spinning or m to h casting and multiple ratio reels. I'm just trying to figure out what my last combo should be. My club fishes lake with a lot of open water or filed with rocks. Not a lot of vegetation of laydowns if that helps.
  23. My absolute favorite spinning reel is Lews tournament speed spin $80. I own 6 of them.
  24. I usually don't spend more than $100 on rods so my list is Abu Veritas, Denali Kovert or Lithium, Dobyns Fury, ***, BPS Carbonlite
