Shimano SLX - Stiff out of the Box
I only have one SLX XG and had no problems with it, but did install a crankshaft bearing, changed the spool bearing to Hedgehog SS ZR high speed bearings and swapped out the drag washers to CarbonTex. Since it is the XG, I had to use the CarbonTex drags that fit the Curado 70XG. Sure is sweet little reel now. I like to tinker with my reels. BTW, you may see from others that if you swap out the drags to CarbonTex you can only do one washer inside the drive gear....not true. Both fit nicely.

Swim Jig Bite
So far at least for me there has been no doubt there is a fish on and just bring them in. No swinging involved.

Bulk spools of line
I am with A-Jay on Amazon. If you keep watch some of the pricing is amazing. I scored big on a 1000yd spool of 15lb Invizx by checking every day and then there it was, $85.

Yes, Braided line Q again :)
I have never understood anglers having a problem with flouro carbon on a bait caster. I don't have it on every single bait cast reel I have (some with mono), but have never had a problem with 10, 12, 15 and 20lb flouro. I still use 8lb mono on my three spinning reels, so can't comment on using it on spinning reels.

Set up for Weightless and Weighted plastics.
Don't know if this will help, but I have two 70XG's and have fished the dickens out of them for four years now and both are spooled with 15lb Invizx and both are on 7' MH, fast tip Carbonlites and both are used to fish weightless plastics and mostly Senko style baits. Both reels are as smooth today as the day they came out of the box. I do maintain my own reels and with my 70 XG's (and other high speed reels)I keep either Shimano ACT2, or Cal's drag grease on the drive gears. They have never been "geary".

New Upgrade To Old Favorite Worm
Yea they work. End of May on the Potomac in muddy water bagged a nice 2lbr on the SK version of the vibe worm. It was the 7" Rage vibe I cut down to 6".

Offboard Marine Charger for Trolling Motor
I am in the same situation in that there is no electric in our state Park boat yard, so I have to pull the TM battery (size 27 Deka) and bring it home. During the season it goes on a 10amp Schumacher automatic charger in the garage immediately and I learned long ago that a 10amp charger is the way to go. If I cannot get back out for several days it stays on a battery tender after the automatic brings it up to snuff. Pain in the neck for many years, but I get a few years out of a TM battery by doing this.

Line Conditioning Good Or Bad?
Only ever used KVD L&L and have been very happy with it for years. It works for me for the reasons DVT pointed out. Don't know if it is why I have never had a problem with flouro carbon, or not, but only know that on the reels spooled with flouro it has never been a problem. It is a hydrophobic substance.

Trailer plus Trailer Hook
Always use a trailer hook on my spinnerbaits with the a long skirt to cover the trailer hook. That way if they go for the back blade they get the hook. I got this from Tactical Bassing LOL

Line for buzzbaits
My buzzers and spinnerbaits are on 17lb XL mono and it has worked fine. The buzzers are fished on a 6'6" MH Rick Clune top water rod and the spinnerbaits on a 7' MH KVD spinnerbait rod.

Just for the record (Whopper Plopper content)
I have a 110 ready to go if I can get on the Potomac on Thursday and the NW wind cooperates. It will go out on a 7' MH Carbonlite 2.0 on 17lb XL mono on a Curado 200K XG.

Choosing color for topwaters
I have never been sure if color made a big difference, or if it was the action that really counted. Frogs maybe a different story.

breaking in a new reel
When I bought a Pro Qualifier a few years ago it gave me fits, so I spooled it with 14 lb mono, turned on all the brakes then fine tuned it down. I ended up with braid on my frog rod, but not before I got real used to the reel.

50lb Braid For Swimbait Fishing?
Just watched the Bass Pros show yesterday and he was throwing a pure swim jig with a ZMan Turbo craw on 50lb braid demonstrating jerking it through and over grass. He had it rigged on Curado 200K fast reel. I do my Whopper Plopper 110 on 17lb XL mono.

Spinnerbait trailer keepers?
I have a small roll of clear tiny plastic tubing from something long ago and I just off a piece about 3/16" long and pull it over the hook side ways. It keeps the trailer on and lasts quite awhile.
