    Don't paint a river slick. Just hook it and fish it! LOL Sorry couldn't resist. I have caught some big trout on those things! I don't know anything about blanks, but Ima Flit has a good river jerkbait, as it doesn't dive deep and floats back up fast. Also check out bomber long-a's, Smithwick rogues and countdown rapalas.
