Yes you could do that. I usually do the first four feet or so though, but I don't know if it makes a difference. I use yellow braid on my catfish rig without a leader or color and they don't seem to mind. Bass seem to hit it a lot too. I think the color thing is just a confidence booster. I wouldn't invest much thought in to it.

I fish them all the time. A lot of the neighborhoods around me have them and they are loaded with fish. The fish usually aren't big though, but there are a ton. I would rather catch five one pound fish than one five pound fish. They make for some great fishing and you can usually access all the water from the bank which is nice.

My local Wal-Mart has good hooks and line, but that's about it. I don't think they are targeting hardcore anglers, so that could explain why they have cheaper stuff. They have Zoom and Berkley plastics, cheapo reels, and the normal Ugly Stiks and Lighting Rods. One thing they don't have is the one dollar spinnerbaits. I wish I could get my hands on those, so I don't have to worry about losing them.

In that song he is just saying how they live and if people don't like it, they don't have to go there. Not really sure where you got the idea that he thinks he is better than anyone.

I don't think it's worth switching to fluoro, but that's because I don't believe that bass are spooked by line. If you try it out and seem to get more bites, then all power to you, but I don't think that'll happen.
