  1. Buy a light one and don't worry about a liner, just get a couple nice sets of thermals and you'll be fine. I fish all winter long with my 100mph suit that is light enough to wear during the summer with shorts and a T shirt. Couple layers of thermals and some good cold weather gear and I'm good and I don't have to have 2 different sets of rain gear.
  2. Anyone ever used them? Like the sickle design, and the price for a black nickel hook is terrific. It would be great go use them for my worm nose jigs and ball heads, but don't want to buy a bunch if they're no good.
  3. Usually you can cradle their belly and they'll hold still for you.
  4. My dad taught me the basics like knot tying and unhooking fish, the rest is self taught and learned from videos and magazines.
  5. I change mono line out about once a month on the few rods I use it on.
  6. The zippers on both my sets of 100mph gear I've had SUCK! I had to return the first pair when the stitching on one of the wrists started coming loose. I have a pair of Guidewear also that are over 10 years old and have been worn a lot and abused. If they hadn't shrunk on me, they'd still be wearable now
  7. 6' 8" M/F Ethos with an H2O Mettle casting reel. Bought the rod on sale for $60, reel on sale for $30. Spinning would be my 6' 8" M/F Ethos spinning rod I got for $40 and Pfluegar President for $50.
  8. If it were me then, I'd buy the best boat you can afford and worry about the electronics later. 5K in electronics does you no good on a boat that doesn't run.
  9. I prefer the 200E5 but that feels more comfortable in my hand and I like the slower ratio, so it's just my personal preference not really that it's better than the 50E.
  10. Fishing is the best fishing practice I've found
  11. Denny Brauer didn't fish much more than a jig his entire career and did alright for himself
  12. How big are the bodies of water you're planning on fishing? I've owned several boats from Lowe, Cajun, and Ranger, all have there pros and cons. Most of our lakes are small and you can easily get away with the lower end of what is allowed for a tournament boat. If you're in an area with huge lakes though, a 17' aluminum with a 75ph motor isn't going to cut it.
  13. Don't hook a wiper with them things, they not only bend then, they snap right off!
  14. Check in with the baby food isle, that's where it is in our Wal Marts.

  16. Straight fluoro, 12-15 pound usually.
  17. I can't hardly read my own handwriting whether printed or cursive unless I slow down and make a point of writing neatly.
  18. Happened to the pond behind my work. Awesome pond that's probably 5-7 acres and loaded with quality fish. We used to be able to fish it but people who don't work here started fishing it so access got yanked for everyone Caught lots of fish like this one out of there.
  19. Welcome back and welcome to the site!
  20. Had a buddy break off on a smallmouth last year first thing in the morning. Went back to that spot in the afternoon and I caught it with an almost identical bait and got his bait back for him. I broke a monster off in a tournament at LOZ several years ago. Told a buddy where and on what for his tournament the next week. The night after his tournament he texted me a picture of the 8lb 2oz bass he'd caught with my football jig still in her mouth, I almost puked.
  21. My wife caught one that threw up this eel. So I rigged a YUM Mightee worm up weightless and caught this one my first cast
  22. I'd be lucky if that's all that happened.
