  1. I've caught a lot of bass on the old Snatrix (sp?) and the Mann's Hardnose Snake, but I always fish them across the bottom like a regular worm and not across the surface like a snake.
  2. I watched a falcon catch a barn swallow out of the air once. I never saw the falcon, just watching the swallows dart around when a streak came straight down from above and slammed that little bird to the ground. As hard as the falcon hit that swallow it was probably dead before it even touched the ground. I've seen birds dive straight down to get a baitfish below the surface also, especially pelicans.
  3. I use my dropshot rod for crappies and it works great. I do use larger baits than most guys use for crappie, but I don't catch very many smaller than 12" either Light line helps a lot too, I normally go with 4lb.
  4. El Dorado is really an up and coming lake for smallmouth I believe. Doesn't have a lot of good largemouth water but I think it will suit the smallmouths well, only time will tell though.
  5. I use a 6' 6" MH/F St Croix LTB with a 6:4.1 Lew's Speed Spool for my bladed jigs and it has been fantastic for them.
  6. Magic Eraser and a little elbow grease makes them look good as new.
  7. Yep, the big crappies love the spinnerbaits
  8. Looks nice and calm out and it's been warm enough the snow on the road has melted, I'd go no doubt. I pulled my boat through 7" of snow while it was still coming down fast and hard at 3am to go to the Classic at Grand last year, so yeah, I'd go Look close at the black part of my coat in this picture and you can see the white streaks that were big, fat snowflakes that were coming down much harder than the picture makes it look like they were.
  9. Orlando Wilson, In-Fisherman, and Last Cast with Shaw Grigsby.
  10. Only Kill Creek, Shawnee Mission Park, and Heritage Lake require the extra JOCO permit. Lots of ponds that are free to fish, however, they all suck I've caught a few from Mize Lake and I've heard there's some decent fish in the Tomahawk Park ponds but have never personally fished them. Lake Lenexa has some decent fishing. I've had a lot of success at Olathe and Cedar Creek but everyone seems to hate them
  11. Count me in the cannonball head club, another size 8. I always knew I had a big head but when I started playing football in 6th grade and they had to go to the high school to find me a helmet, which was an old school kickers helmet with the single bar, that pretty much confirmed it
  12. 0:05 of this video is probably one of the most sickening sounds to me. Wouldn't need the title to know what happened.
  13. Surprised the water is still that cold down there. That's a nice, fat white bass you go though.
  14. That second fish is more like what you usually see out of that lake. That first one is about as big as any I've seen out of the main lake for a long time. That used to be a great lake before the LMBV got to it and killed off all the big fish. Maybe they're starting to come back a little bit. It sure would be nice since it's less than 2 miles from my house
  15. Mine would mainly be a backup, but there's a lot of times I'd like to have a squarebill, medium runner, and a deep crank all tied on for lakes with a good cranking bite. I already have a 5.2 Pro Qual without a home anyways so it would be a good excuse to buy another rod
  16. Man I'll have to check. Not that I need it but I have a 5.2 Pro Qual without a home that I'd love to slap on an H2O cranking rod

  18. Roadrunners are the original fish head spins and a killer for about any kind of fish.
  19. The 78 size Pointer would have to be my pick, has caught me thousands of fish.
  20. Did you measure it's length? Looks more like a 3-3.5 from the picture to me but it's always hard to tell with pictures like that.
  21. Spots are a blast to catch and have saved many a day for me on Table Rock.
  22. Doesn't really matter, 90% of them are caught with the treble hook anyways. It's a 4/0 Luck E Strike swimbait hook, but like I said very few of them are ever hooked with that hook. Once that treble hook is pushed in all the way it's pretty protected by the front hook bend and the fins of the bait, so it will come through a surprising amount of cover still.
  23. When my old dog was half grown he decided my buddies Original Rapala looked tasty. He grabbed it and got hooked through the lip. I grabbed him to try to prevent him from getting hooked worse but he backed up real fast and buried the front hook in my left index finger. Being hooked and attached to a 50lb panicked dog is not a good time. Finally tackled him and laid on top of him while my buddy cut the hook that was stuck in my dog and backed it out, I went to the ER to get mine removed. Had a rod fall over that was leaned against the boat and bury a hook into my calf (again an Original Rapala, maybe why I don't fish them much anymore?) My aunt pushed it through and clipped the point, pretty painless really. My dad caught me on the backcast with a big, deep diving crank. It hit me in the back of the head and ripped from the back of my head all the way to the front, leaving 3 bloody streaks across my head that burned like someone had poured rubbing alcohol in them. Thankfully it ripped all the way out on the cast though. The impact felt like I'd be punched in the back of the head. He smacked me in the face with a flipping tube and 3/8oz bullet weight once also, right in the cheekbone, felt like I'd been sucker punched. Had an 18" brown trout bury the front treble of an EEratic shad into my index finger while I was trying to pose for a picture with it. Thankfully her next flop ripped it right back out. Had a very similar thing happen with a bass with a Baby -1. Grabbed it behind the head but lost my grip when it started to flop. One hook stuck in my thumb but ripped out on the next flop, but buried into the side of my thumb on my other hand as I was reaching to try to control the fish. One more flop and it tore that hook back out. I was bleeding all over and the fish was still on my bait. I already had a basket of crappie, ended up with a basket of crappie plus 1 bass that day
  24. And miss out on some of the best fishing there is Frogg Toggz is you want to keep it cheap, Cabela's Guidewear or BPS 100MPH suit if you can swing them.
  25. Your idea of higher end may not be the same as someone else's either. I fish mostly St. Croix LTBs, which I consider to be high end rods, but some are going to consider them mid range rods if they fish all G Loomis or Megabass. For me I like to find the balance of price and performance and just accumulate them slowly as I get extra income.
