Crankbaits?
I catch a ton of bass on cranks fishing from the bank. Actually, when I'm fishing them from the boat I'll spend a lot of time with the nose of the boat really close to the bank. Cast parallel to the shoreline and grind them suckers along the bottom and you'll catch fish. Carry a telescoping lure retriever with you to unsnag stuck baits and you're good to go.

Daredevil
I catch quite a few bass early every year fishing for trout with Little Cleo spoons too.

Weedguards On Chatterbaits?
I build a bladed jig on a swinging football head with a 5/0 Owner Twistlock XXX hook. The free swinging hook gives it a double jointed action and just add whatever trailer to the back and texpose rig it and you can fish it through timber and most vegetation. It's not hard to build a standard bladed jig with a weedguard but I much prefer this style.

Chatterbait/swim Jig Help
I make my own in both, haven't bought one for years and couldn't be happier. Pretty much just fish the bladed jigs with a straight retrieve, reeling them as slow as I can while keeping the blade wobbling. Some of my favorite colors; I use 2/3 of a BPS Stick O for a trailer a lot of the time. The Havoc beat shad and grass pigs are good, so is a fluke or swimming fluke, 4 or 5 inch grubs, 2/3 of a trick worm, 1/2 of a 7" swimming tail worm, pretty much whatever you want to use. bargain bin fluke bait trailer beat shad trailer A double, one on a beat shad trailer, one on a BPS Stick O Stick O trailer Stick O trailer

It Called Me... I Went... I Was Happy
My buddy bought a bunch of Luck E Strike cranks for $.80-$1 today, cleared them out. Our Wal Mart has them on sale too, for $5....

I Will Get Better With This Lure This Year...
Not a lure but a type of fishing, deep water/structure fishing. I get uncomfortable real fast when I can't see what I'm fishing. I've done better and better at it the last couple years and am getting better at reading my graphs, but like everything in fishing it takes lots of trail and error to get proficient at it. It doesn't help that most of our lakes are shallow and muddy, which keeps most of the fish shallow.

Has Anyone Ever Seen A Bass Blow Up On A Real Snake?
I've caught a bass with a snake sticking out of it's throat, but never seen one actually attacking one. fishinthedacks' story reminded me of a bass my wife caught while we were fishing on a friends private lake in South Carolina. She was fighting a solid 3-4 pound fish to the boat when it spit up a large object, turned out to be about a foot long eel. Seeing that prompted me to try a YUM Mightee worm weightless like a Senko, first cast with it;

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
You're a brave man to try Olathe this early in the year. I don't think I've ever caught a bass out there before mid April.

At Home Rod Storage
I use coated bicycle hooks hanging from the ceiling into the garage, screwed into the studs in the attic. Each hook will hold about 4 rod and reel combos.

Post A Song That Describes You
- Wichita Bass Fishing
Look up Mr_Scrogg on the forums. He's from the area and should be able to help you out!- Mojo Bass Swimbait
It will cast a swimbait, and if you're ever attacked by a rabid Bigfoot you could probably successfully defend yourself with it too!- Daiwa Tatula And Curado 300E
I've heard from a few guys that own Tatulas that they feel heavy. Never even seen one in person so I can't say anything about them, but they're the first Daiwa reel I've considered buying in a long time. Love my 300E, a little outside the box to use it as a cranking reel but I'm sure it will launch a crank because I sling a swimbait a mile on mine!- Has Anyone Used The Duo Realis Vibration Lipless Crank
He's asking about the Duo Realis vibration lipless crankbait, like a rattle trap style bait. I have one, but have yet to fish it. They're very nice looking little baits, but probably will need the hooks changed as they're pretty light. They have really good reviews if that helps.- Spybait ???
After fishing the spinbait 80 a bit, you aren't going to duplicate it with a swimbait, it's action is completely different. It wobbles a bit like a senko on the pause, but sinks much faster. It has a slow roll on the retrieve while the props spin so fast it's difficult to tell they're even moving at all until you lift it out of the water. Like every other bait out there, it's not a magic bullet, but it does catch fish and I think it will find it's niche in fishermen's tackle boxes who are willing to give it a shot.- What Music Do You Listen To While Fishing?
No music for me, I'm too concentrated on listening for signs of fish to listen to music. More than once I've heard fish breaking surface, chasing bait, that's turned a slow day around into a productive day.- 3" Havoc Pit Boss
They're going to be an awesome shakyhead bait I'll bet! They look good on the back of a finesse jig, and probably would work well on a split shot rig also.- Whats With The Deps Swimbaits?
They do move an incredible number of fish, all sizes too. They look kind of ridiculous in hand but once they start moving in the water it's a whole different story.- Central Get Together
For anyone on the central board that is interested in a little meet and greet and a "just for fun" tournament, Saturday, May 31st and Sunday, June 1st a group of us will be at Grand Lake, Ok. We're staying at some private cabins in Grove that are already at capacity so you'll have to find separate lodging unfortunately, but I just wanted to invite anyone that's interested in being there. For more information you can PM me or look at the link for more information on what we have planned so far. There's a 1 day at Melvern Lake, KS on April 19th if anyone wants to make it to that one also. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/129650-kc-spring-get-together/- Last Year
We do a small regional one for central guys here a couple times a year. The hardest part is finding a person or people willing to step up and take control of organizing it. This is the third year we've been doing it in the KC area thread and it's always a good time but it would be fun to meet some of the other guys from other areas.- Would You Step In If You Saw A Guy..thrashing His Wife...? Before You Answer Read This
If you were near your vehicle it probably would have been better to call from inside there, but obviously you didn't know you were going to be attacked either. If you could run away, great, I'd rather be called a coward for running than a victim on the news the next morning. As for myself, the LEO in me wouldn't allow me to walk away if she was being beat on. I'm sworn to protect and I would be doing my best to do just that, but I'd be calling 911 and trying to divert his attention first before going hands on with anyone. I would do everything I could to avoid striking a female but once someone is stabbing me, the gloves are off. You never know what someone may resort to, or be capable of. Even if you're 6' 6" 275 pounds, let a person who's 5' 4" 115lbs and well trained get on your back and get you in a carotid hold, you'll be passed out on the ground before you have a chance to do anything about it and you'll be completely helpless for them to do whatever they're planning on doing.- The Chapped Thread.
It was 60+ degrees outside and I didn't get to go fishing- Re: Wyandotte County Lake
Really it's best used as cutbait on the river. Or find someone with no tastebuds that loves the stuff and give it to them. - Wichita Bass Fishing
