Acadamy Crs Squarebill
I'm a big believer in all the H2O hard baits. Their squarebills have become the first bait I reach for in a lot of situations. They work well and cost a fraction of my Lucky Crafts or Spros, what's not to love?

Scatter Rap Shallow
Good advice, send them all to me since they obviously don't work

Diehard Fisherman!!!
I've seen it snow when it was 38-40 degrees out also. I believe it has a lot more to do with the temps near the clouds but I'm no expert on the subject. Living in Kansas my entire life, I do know a thing or two about weird weather though

Sandiego Jam
Only knot I tie with fluoro anymore. It's easy to tie and when tied carefully and properly it's extremely strong.

Bass Fishing With...
Just to narrate everything you do Mine would be Steve Harvey. He cracks me up and I really appreciate the way he tells it like it is, plus I've heard he's a pretty avid bass fisherman.

Building The World Record Bass
You can do that on a lot of lakes in Kansas. Our bass fishing sucks, but the channel cat fishing is outstanding. A lot of lakes have feeders that go off several times a day and the water is whipped to a froth by the big catfish trying to get the easy meal. There's several lakes that I fish where 2 people catching 50 or more channel cats from 5 to up to 20 pound isn't even very difficult during the summer months.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
I fished Gardner for a few hours this morning. Wanted to give it a try after Flukes recent reports. I'm guessing the cold front knocked them down a little bit. Never had a bite on a trap but caught a decent number on a RC STX jerkbait and one solid one on one of my bladed jigs. I had better luck in the southern half of the lake with areas with deep water near the shoreline being the best. They were really popping the jerkbait on the pause, no doubt kind of bites, just had to cover water in between bites though. Mr. Ned himself was on the water today fishing his namesake rig. He said that they only had 10 bass, 1 catfish, and 1 saugeye between him and his partner. When I first got to the ramp I saw a big fish swim and get stuck in the weeds right by the ramp, turned out to be a 5-6 pound saugeye?! I thought maybe she was on her way out but she zoomed off when I poked at her with my lure retriever and never saw her again. I think I ended up with 12 or 13 with a 16-17 inch fish being the biggest. All of the fish I caught were very fat and healthy looking for a change. Water temps were 48.5-50.4.

Water Temp 58-59 Degrees
You're right, I saw 68-69 degrees for some reason. Probably because I've only slept 8 of the last 72 hours They should be just about to do the dance at those water temps, and the areas I mentioned should still be prime locations though.

Favorite Jigs ??
I make my own in several different head styles but I have my color selection down to about a dozen or so that I fish in all situations, everywhere. If I had to choose one it would be a 1/2oz brush jig in Texas Craw color.

Diehard Fisherman!!!
Coldest one I fished was on Table Rock in November. Temps started in the teens and barely eeked above 20. It sleeted and snowed sideways the entire day with the 25mph winds. I was very green to the tournament scene and had no quality cold weather gear. My coveralls were soaked through by about 10am, I've never been so cold in my life. I never caught a fish but my boater caught 3 keepers on a wiggle wart and won the thing. Most miserable was at Patoka in Indiana at a Weekend Series Regional tournament. Fished for 2 days, most of it in downpour conditions and never very warm, and caught 5 fish with 1 keeper. Fishing was so terrible I almost made the final day cut with that one little keeper. I was a non boater and the 3 day winning weight on the non boater side was right around 10 pounds.

Water Temp 58-59 Degrees
Fish should be wrapping up spawning in those water temps, but still near spawning areas. I'd be looking at points leading into spawning pockets where the big females should be looking for their first meal in a month.

Beaver Style Baits?
That's not a beaver bait?? I've become a big fan of the Netbait B bug, and yes the smallies love them! I like to drag them on a swinging football head. The smaller beaver baits are smallmouth killers on a shakyhead.

Rod For Chatterbaits And Spinnerbaits
I use a 6' 6" MH/F St. Croix LTB with a 6.4:1 Lew's Speed Spool and have never had an issue with losing fish on bladed jigs or spinnerbaits.

Clear Water Experts Question 2...
I like rattles in dirty water and when they're buried up in the weeds or cover to help call them out. I use silent baits a majority of the time anymore.

Reaction Baits Around Snaggy Cedar Trees.
I've got a bait for you! A heavy jig can be a good reaction bait to toss right into the middle of the trees. A hollow belly swimbait on a keel weighted hook can be good. Running wakebaits or walk the dog baits around the edges works really well sometimes. This time of year a spinnerbait, bladed jig, or jerkbait if there's room.
