For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/129650-kc-spring-get-together/ There's the thread for all 3 of the spring get togethers. We already had one last month. This next one is the 19th at Melvern. We'll be taking off at 7 or 8 in the morning (weather permitting) and we usually fish until 3. We launch from the state park ramp nearest the dam on the north side of the lake. It's always a good time and I don't think we've ever had someone not catch a fish. My wife fished with me last year (and will again this year) and caught her new PB smallmouth that was the second biggest fish caught.

Fishing In The Rain?
The rain was a little cold for anything less than what we had on and no way you could have kept a cigar lit in the downpour we fished through. As for the last one you'll just have to keep wondering, I'm not Googling it

Dinner Tonight
I've heard they're good eating. Seems like they would have a lot of Y-bones like a pike?

I Cant Be Alone......reels With Many Bearings
More bearings doesn't equal a better reel either. Lots of inexpensive reels boast high bearing counts, but in most cases they're either poor quality bearings or in places where they serve little to no purpose. What kind of spinnerbaits are you trying to fish on a spinning reel?

Homemade Chatterbaits
Correct, the hook eye is open so you don't need a split ring and I wouldn't suggest using one if you don't need to. One downside to using the split ring like I do is it occasionally jams either in the hook eye or inside the blade and prevents the blade from working. Usually a quick snap of the rod tip will remedy this situation but sometimes it doesn't. It's a minor annoyance that I'm willing to put up with though. With those heads, adding a split ring would end up with the blade laying on it's side and not working correctly during the retrieve as well.

Jig Colors
I work midnight to 8am, so I'm always on here when most everyone else is sleeping. Hillsdale is your favorite lake?! I think you should check out this thread and find a new favorite lake from a lot of like minded guys from the KC area. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/41660-for-us-kc-area-guys-fishing-reports/page-195#entry1500899

Top Secret Lures
Black and blue home made bladed jig. When I'm in stained water and need a big bite, that's what I reach for.

Johnny Rat Wakebait
And the point I always like to make is most that gripe about that price have no problem forking over $7 a bag for a 10 pack of Senkos. After a couple seasons of fishing you could easily go through enough Senkos to spend that much, while that rat bait will be going strong maybe for the rest of your fishing life if you don't smack it off a rock or let a big fish wrap you up. It's not even an expensive rat bait for that matter.

Your Rating Scale
In terms of learning how to use them, nothing was harder for me to learn to fish properly than the jig. I'm almost completely self taught, and just a few years before Youtube was around, and it took me several years to feel like I had the hang of fishing them.

Favorite Square Bill?
I've got a bunch of LC 1.5's and love them, but anymore I find myself reaching for my H2O squarebills a majority of the time. They swim great, good color options, and cost less than $5 a bait.

Sharpie And A Crankbait
Not at all. I use sharpies to color baits pretty often and never have a problem with it repelling fish.

I Can't Believe I Heard This
I can pitch it, flip it, cast it, whatever, just have to get a knew handle for it first

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Could always fish the KC area get together at Melvern. It's the same day and just a "for fun" tournament. No entry fee, just bragging rights so if you don't catch anything it's not as big of a deal. As a group we have enough knowledge of Melvern I think you'd almost have to try not to catch a fish there this time of year.

How Big Is This Bass In The Pic A Friend Sent Me?
Looks to be really close to the camera, and the mouth and head just don't look like those of a fish that would certainly be in the teens if it was nearing 30". It's really hard to tell from that picture, but if I were going to guess I'd say somewhere in the 7-10 pound range.

What Is This Color Called?
For sure a Bandit 300, never seen that color before though.

What's On Your Mind Today, Fishermen?
Kind of a toss up right now, really going to depend what I can fit in the garage. Hoping it will be an 18' Triton or Stratus with a 115 or 150 on the back though

Inexpensive Polarized Shade Help.
I wear the $5 Berkley glasses from Wal Mart when I'm bank fishing or doing anything that I don't want to wear one of my expensive pairs of Costas. They're pretty decent, especially for the price.

Fishing In The Rain?
Unless you have a dirty aluminum like I do, then it just washes it off

Giving Up Your Rights To Fish.
A Terry Frisk is different from a post arrest search. Generally, it's feeling the waistband and pockets, but the officer can not reach inside them unless something is found because it is a search for weapons only. Reasonable suspicion is basically less than probable cause and more than a hunch. So if the officer has no explanation of why they're wanting to pat you down then by all means let them know that you don't want them to, and you are correct that speeding or making an illegal turn is not a reason to search you. I know there is no way to convince you, but having been through the classes and studied the laws I'm sworn to uphold and protect, those stickers would 100% justify a Terry Frisk if the officer has requested you to get out of the vehicle to search it. If there is no reason to search it then tell them you don't want them to search it and you won't have to worry about it. It isn't saying people don't have a right to own weapons and it isn't an unreasonable search or seizure. Feel free to read up on Terry V. Ohio on the matter if you'd like a better understanding of your rights on the situation.

Giving Up Your Rights To Fish.
Not true, it's called a Terry Frisk. All the officer needs is reasonable suspicion, which is easy to have because most officers I know are suspicious of others by nature. Maybe his truck had an NRA, Glock, or Bass Pro sticker on it. I wouldn't have any trouble articulating the fact that most people who support any of those groups/companies own some kind of weapon. It isn't abusing my power, it's just me wanting to make sure I go home to my family at the end of the day or try to prevent someone from doing something stupid that might keep them from going home that night. The biggest issue with that story was the stop, you can't stop someone just because. If you are, I would suggest reporting the officer to their supervisor. I believe some of the reasons that GWs have more powers is because of some of the issues they deal with in their line of work. 1 Almost everyone they contact is either currently armed, or has easy access to a weapon. 2. A majority of the evidence they are looking for is very perishable and easily disposed of. 3. Most of their victims can't talk so it's up to them to come up with more physical evidence in a case because he can't call Bambi to the stage to tell how some jerk shot at him from the road at night. I have nothing to hide when I'm hunting or fishing and have no problem proving it to an officer wanting to check me. I'm always glad to see them out there doing their job and I've never met one that I didn't BS with for a few minutes about hunting or fishing after being checked.

River Monsters Is Back
Big spinning reels with baitfeeders click when a fish is pulling line, but not when you start reeling and the baitfeeder shuts off. A lot of times he is using big casting reels that have bait clickers, which I agree are a must for still fishing for big fish, but a lot of the reels he uses don't have bait clickers and they edit the clicking sound in.

Homemade Chatterbaits
Also a #2 duolock snap.

War Eagle & D&m Spinnerbait Questions
I fish almost all War Eagles and have never had a problem with the blades tarnishing.
