Goodbye Jon Boat... Hello To A Gorgeous Xpress (Pics)
X1000 on the upgraded trolling motor rope. The first time I broke my pull rope it took me 30 minutes to get the thing back tied tight enough I could try to lift the motor again. Next attempt it broke again . I'm a really laid back guy but that about spun me off my axis. Ordered the steel cable the next day and couldn't be happier. I ordered an Xpress catalog about a week ago to browse through. Truck will be paid off January 2015 so I can be a little more serious about looking then. Great looking boat! Should get years of enjoyment out of her!

Icast 2013
Very first pitch with one I pulled a 17.5" smallmouth out from under a dock with a summer craw colored one. I was shocked to see a smallie eat one of those things. So far the biggest fish I've caught on one.

How's The Duck Hunting In Your Area
It was great last year if you like to shoot coots Lots of very shy birds because of the limited hunting areas packed with tons of people.

Don't know why you say that? Oh yeah, that's why Deer and ducks for me. I'd like to do more quail and pheasant hunting but it's just getting to be too far of a drive to even have a chance to see one anymore

Best Way To Catch A Carp
Get the kind with holes in the middle and super glue it onto the hook, I used to do that to catch the catfish out of my grandpas pond. A few years ago when I was allowed to bowfish Wyandotte Co lake another guy that was out there at the same time shot a 72 pound grass carp the same night I shot a 52 pounder. Those things grow massive. It's hard to keep them from pulling off when they get that big though.

Middle Speed Ratios
The new Revo Rocket is supposed to have a 9.0:1 gear ratio with 37 IPT!

Berkley Nanofil Line?
I love it for things like wacky rigs, swimming grubs, and small cranks. It's terrible for contact baits if there's any kind of wind because it blows a huge bow in the line. It's designed for spinning reels so keep that in mind. It casts way further than any line I've ever fished if you need long distance casts.

Havoc Pit Boss
Try moving up to a 4/0, that's what I use and rarely miss a fish on a pit boss. My go to bait for flipping water willows or brushpiles.

Difference Between A $5 Lure And A $12 Lure?
Better not get into swimbaits then I just got a steal on a Mattlures Hard Bass for $30!

What Kind Of Jig Is This?
A broken or modified one looks to me like. Like someone tried to skip it and hit a crossbar or concrete and took a chunk out of it.

Can't Win With Topwaters
Get a buzzbait or two. If you can fish a spinnerbait you can fish a buzzbait. Smaller ones like a Booyah Pond Magic will catch all sizes of fish and are easy to fish.

Icast 2013
Those Papa Pit Bosses are beastly! Don't have much on the water time with them yet but they are a big fish bait no doubt.

I'd Be Happy Only Using Senko's Forever
Fishing Senkos is about as much fun as a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. They are effective, just painfully boring to fish.

Difference Between A $5 Lure And A $12 Lure?
I have had almost zero success with SK spinnerbaits, not sure why. If fish are aggressive it really doesn't matter. Try to take a Wally World spinnerbait to Table Rock and fish against someone chucking a War Eagle, let me know how that goes It's all in the details, a lot of them you may not even be able to see. They'll have better quality components, better paint, better hooks, move differently, a lot of higher end cranks will have tungsten BB's instead of steel to give them a little different sound. Are they always better? No. Sometimes they'll outfish the cheaper baits really badly though. Just another tool and it's up to you to figure out which one you need to get the job done that day

Who's Better
Ha! I doubt anyone would listen to that story

How Would You Fish A Swimbait Here?
Running weed edges with a weedless swimmer is always a good way to get bit. Find the high percentage areas like on the edges of the drops on a point or with other cover like rockpiles or brushpiles and you'll increase your odds greatly.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Looks like you caught your bigger fish from almost the same spot I caught my 5 1/4 my first trip out there, wonder if it was the same fish? First cove on the east side by the dam next to a brushpile. Seems like they're either really small or solid fish out there. The amount of cover and fish in that lake makes it very enjoyable to fish. Missouri craw, Pb&J, with whatever kind of brown or GP trailer you prefer or black and blue with a blue trailer. Now is a better time of year for big worms in deeper water down there.

Going Under Cover
I use it to keep in touch with family and friends I don't get to see often. I work midnight shift and my weekend is during most peoples work week so actually calling and talking is difficult and I don't have a smart phone so I can't send pictures or anything so if I see something I want to share with them it's a good way to do it. I do enjoy watching some of the drama that goes down with people that I don't ever talk to though Some people will post crap I'd never want to put out there for everyone to see, but it's entertaining to say the least. I don't do any of the games anymore and the game request drive me crazy but it's not hard to block a game so every time I get a request I block that game and it's done.

Boom Goes The Hybrid!
The one I was using is a larger version that I haven't seen since they first came out. It's 4" long and has to weigh close to an ounce. Works great for hybrids because it walks very easy and is so big it casts a mile. I wish I would have had something better for size comparison but that fish makes that big 4" bait look like a Zara puppy in the picture!

Middle Speed Ratios
I like the mid range speeds for spinnerbaits, topwater, buzzbaits, traps, spoons, jerkbaits, and occasionally squarebills.

Need Opinions On A Curado 200B
I have 3 of them, they're a workhorse reel. One was the very first baitcaster over $100 I ever bought when I was 16. 11 years later it's since been supertuned and is now one of the farthest casting baitcasters I've ever owned and is still part of my daily line up. The other 2 are loaned out to a couple buddies that use them every time they go and they're still working perfect. I'd buy it if everything is in good working order.

First Fish On My Rat Wakebait
Saved yourself about $100 making one yourself and caught a fish on it, nice!
