Snapping Turtles As Cover??
The turtles are probably stirring up craws and scaring baitfish out from cover and the bass are following them to capitalize on the easy feeding opportunity they're creating. I've seen bass follow carp for the same reasons. If they follow behind them they're safe, just like how small fish will follow by the tails of sharks and billfish in the ocean because they're out of reach as long as they stay away from the business end!

Boom Goes The Hybrid!
Went out to one of my after work spots this morning. Been seeing some big explosions the last couple times but figured they were just carp. First cast with the biggest size skitter walk saw some big white flashes under the bait and a couple boils 2 casts later it looked like someone dropped a brick in the water. No doubt what it was and a long fight with some drag burning runs confirmed what I thought. No scale or tape but guessing in the 6-7 pound range.

Olathe is way better for bass if that's what you're after. Hillsdale is a better option for crappie, cats, and white bass. I think I'd prefer an anchor, drift sock would be kind of a pain to use in a canoe. If all you want to do is slow a canoe down though a 5 gallon bucket does the same thing as a drift sock in a light weight boat like that.

Your Most Notable Streak?
My buddies partner got shot not long ago, hit him square in the vest thankfully but left a really pretty bruise he said. The turd who shot him wasn't so lucky as my buddy is a competitive shooter. Still, even from less than 15 yards the stress caused him to miss 3 of the 18 shots he took.

Anyone Ever Use This Catfish Bait Recipe?
I doubt they stocked anything much smaller than a pound, that's still plenty big enough to get a smaller chunk of cutbait and a 1/0 hook into it's mouth. One of the lakes I catfish gets stocked several times a year with 1lb and bigger channel cats and those little guys drive me crazy eating my bait before the big guys get to it and trying to stick me when I'm unhooking them. Just cut the bait into thin strips and you'll have no problem hooking them. Hotdogs and grasshoppers are both really good baits for smaller channels too without having to mix a bunch of junk up. If they just stocked them they're not going to be real hard to catch anyways and will probably bite about anything.

Who Cranks Wit 7.1 Gear Ratio Deep Crank
5.1 for me, not only is it easier on me but it keeps me from fishing the bait too fast.

Worm Color Question
YUM used to make a color called motoroil neon that was my absolute favorite in their woolly bug. It looks motoroil out of water then changes to sort of chartreuse under water and the fish killed it. Now their Cajun Neon does a pretty similar thing.

Berkley Havoc Bottom Hopper Worm
So basically you wrap the wacky saddle about 1.5" back from the head of the worm and you end up with something like a wacky rig that is weighted at one end and isn't hooked directly in the middle of the worm? I could see where the gliding action would be very good.

Seriously??
It has 7 baits with 9 teasers. It's nothing but another tool like any other bait. If you've got the back and shoulders to throw one all day I see nothing wrong with it. The A-rig doesn't make every fish around bite, it's not that they can't stand to watch it swim by. When they work they're magic sure, but it's far from "pulling a net behind the boat" like I've heard it described. I have yet to catch more than one fish at a time with one either. A few times I've used it they were biting on regular baits way better than they were on the A-rig. Not sure how many states a 7 arm rig would even be legal? I know in KS the limit is 2 hooks and MO it's 3 so I have no reason to buy one.

Berkley Havoc Pit Boss
One of my favorite beaver style baits since they've come out. Summer craw lately has been the deal pitched into and along the edges of the water willows. Big Texan, lime-purple passion, Okechobee craw, perfection blue, vampire orange, GP/orange flake, black sapphire, all have done well for me. I like them with either a 1/4oz weight if there's not much cover or a 3/8oz if I need it to get through some stuff. 4/0 EWG hook and 20lb fluoro.

Creature Baits On Shaky Heads?
Baby brush hog is a great bait on a shakyhead as is the smaller size BPS crack craw.

Shimano Reels
Most of them should have what model they are written on them somewhere if they don't have the gear ration printed right near the handle. If you can figure out what model they are it's easy to figure out what your ratio is.

Well I guess there is no dock then. If you've ever walked on those lily pad things at a pool that you have to use a rope to balance and walk across, that's kind of what walking on that dock was like.

Jackson County Tournaments - July 1, 2013
How much are the boat permits for Jacomo? I found a listing of prices on the Jackson Co website but it's a little confusing. It would be a non resident permit for a 16' boat with a 60hp motor. It says it has a HP limit but I can't find one? All I found was that it's $1.80 for the first 10hp then $.70 for every HP after that?

Are The Fish Stunted Where Did They Come From?
Seems like it takes a lot of years for those rock quarries to become fertile enough to support enough forage to produce numbers of bigger fish. You could try removing a bunch of the smaller bass to allow for more food for the other bass to grow larger. Doesn't sound like they are stunted though, usually if a pond has stunted fish they all look like almost exact copies of one another with almost no larger fish. Usually fish are either transplanted into a place like that by someone or they got in there from another body of water during a high water event.

How Would You Fish This?
I'd probably get some Rage frogs or Zoom horny toads with the cover being a little more sparse. I like to buzz them along the top and then kill them in the openings in the weeds. Braid is an absolute must for that kind of fishing though.

Fishing Either Sat Or Sun Early Morning. Advice Needed.
Flip that Rocket Craw into any visible cover that's been recently flooded and run the spinner around the edges of cover, you should get a couple doing that.

Stinky Bass?
One of the lakes I fish a lot is a power plant lake that's loaded with shad. The bass often smell very strong like shad because that's about the only thing they eat in this lake. It's not a bad smell I guess but very noticeable.
