  1. A lot to be said about confidence. If you're confident in what you're using, you'll fish better. I use both lines for different uses and do so with confidence so I use them effectively.
  2. I'm in the split ring camp. The blade moves further, giving a bigger thump, imitating a larger baitfish. I've always caught larger fish with them as a result. The direct connect heads are a sharper vibration and seem to cut through vegetation a little better if that's a concern.
  3. I've caught lots of fish on them after I'd given up on the retrieve and gone to reel them in. Maybe the increase in speed triggered the strike, but they still struck during a straight retrieve.
  4. I got it for about $550 I believe? I bought it during Black Friday and held onto it to be a Christmas present for myself ? It does have SI, DI, GPS, quite a few nice features.
  5. Got out for my first trip of the year on the powerplant lake. It was tough to say the least, and it didn't help that I didn't do well converting on the few bites I had. Only managed 3 bass, one was a nice one at least. This is the time of year I can sometimes get a flathead to eat a spoon in the hotwater when the shad are packed in there and spawning. I don't think I was there for 5 minutes before I felt a thump even in the current and 15' down. Didn't quite match last years monster, but it was a nice one, too much for my fish grippers on my scale. It just barely got my spoon ? Couldn't get my scale to lock in but it was bouncing around between a high 36 to low 38 pound range.
  6. Maybe? I'm not sure wherr they do that at. I was below the dam.
  7. Everything is pretty much fair game here. Crappie is great cut bait and trout is one of my favorites for the few months of the year it's available.
  8. Probably not but I use straight fluoro and don't have any issues with line twist.
  9. Falcon has spinning rods for cranking in their Bucoo lineup. I have the M/MF that I use for 1.0 squarebills and shad rap style baits. They also have a MH/MF. I really like the one that I have.
  10. I have Garmins on my Stratos but I'm not sponsored or anything. I'll switch my kayak to Garmin if they want to send me one ? This was just the best price I could get one a unit with the features I wanted.
  11. Whole drum are excellent flathead bait as well. I've even caught an 18" walleye on a 7" drum I was bottom fishing for flathead once. My trip with the family this spring, cut drum accounted for our biggest blue cat of the trip although white bass was the more effective.
  12. Dorkfish is what I so lovingly refer to them as.
  13. I'm going to make one, had planned on doing it a week or so ago, but decided to wait until after I got this thing added on. If I was just going to fun fish, I wouldn't have gone with something like this. I looked hard at something with just gps and DI, but I really felt like SI could have helped me in a few cases last year when I was pedaling past areas that looked like they might have been worth a few cast, but didn't want to potentially waste the time on them.
  14. I wouldn't even try to fish offshore with my old one. Once it got deeper than 10', it was hit or miss if it even read the bottom, let alone cover and fish. One thing I can give it credit for, if it marked fish, there was for sure fish there.
  15. Pretty substantial step up from my little Lowrance with the 4" screen and no SI or DI that I had on it.
  16. I really don't think I ever could. Part of enjoying fishing for lots of different kinds of fish, I don't feel like I ever have enough time to pursue all of them like I'd like to.
  17. That makes sense. Every picture I'd seen it was just hanging out and not rigged through the bait like it was just an unnecessary add on.
  18. Welcome!
  19. What is the purpose of the swivel on the cover Neko hook?
  20. I love them, great little bait. The weedless model gets tons of bites but hookups can be difficult at times. Hard to tell if it's the bait or just small fish. I bent the hook slightly, sharpened it, and added slippery sent and it seemed to help a bit. They're durable and the swim is great. I've about worn out the first weedless one but got a couple replacements for it. They either were going to or already have released a crappie pattern that I'll be picking up for sure.
  21. I have both, the jighook model has a much better hookup ratio.
  22. The #5 is my favorite size Shad Rap.
  23. I did it with one of my bladed jigs once so perfectly that I missed the fish that immediately ate the bait because I was still admiring my cast ? I even got it on video.
