  1. I saw a bunch of mosquito fish on the shore this weekend. I've never seen them this time of year.
  2. The Kansas River was 43-44 this weekend in Lawrence.
  3. That looks great, trout and bluegill would tear that up.
  4. Looks pretty similar to a BBB Yomama, one of my personal favorite pitching baits. They'll for sure put them in the boat. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Big_Bite_Baits_Yomama/descpage-BBBYMOM.html
  5. Yes, this is my plan to use it as the layer under my outer layer. My issue with the normal pullover is the steam that rises off the water and blows around from the power plant lakes occasionally is so heavy that it will start to soak through, under, over, the outer wear and start to get me damp around my neck and arms. I'm hoping with combination of being able to cinch it down and being water/wind resistant, this might be the answer to really staying warm when I'm on the water and it's in the teens or 20's.
  6. Quiznos is still a thing? They disappeared around here years ago. Goodcents has the best fresh bread and makes really good sandwiches. Potbelly makes a really nice sandwich too.
  7. I've been sick a couple times but never tested positive. I've had 2 antibody test done for free through work and don't show any antibodies so I assume I've never had it.
  8. The Jr is solid when they want a smaller bait. It still cast just fine on casting gear too, so that's nice. I've not fished the +2 much. Our lakes are so shallow that there aren't many situations that call for a jerkbait that runs that deep.
  9. I've never had much luck on squarebills (or any cranks), early in the year except in the Ozark lakes with Wiggle Warts. Lipless baits early in the year around any remaining vegetation, either with a slow, steady retrieve or yo-yoing retrieve can be very productive. Rock is another place I like to use them.
  10. I like to fish them on a screwlock shakyhead, or on a T-rig with a 1/4oz bullet weight. brown/purple flake and pumpkin/black flake have been my best colors.
  11. Get out of my comfort zone. It's so easy to just put it on cruise control and go catch those fish doing what I know will work. Sometimes I have to get away from that and try to put fish in the boat doing something I'm not as adept at doing or catch them somewhere I don't usually to get that real feeling of accomplishment.
  12. Working my last 12 hours for the week. 60 hours plus 8 hours of Covid pay and I'm not eligible to be forced to work any OT during the holiday weekend. Looking forward to spending time with the family and not having to worry about work.
  13. There use to be a small brick and mortar tackle shop here locally. The owner use to tell me he could always tell what I was catching my fish on by what certain people would come in and buy each week ?
  14. Looks like a great evening of fishing! Good to see you're still around.
  15. The Auger tail is a different worm from the jelly worm. I caught a lot of fish on those, and the Mannipulator worm growing up. The Mann's Shadow was the first soft jerkbait I had good success with too and every time I see the Stingray grub I wonder why I ever stopped fishing them. Now that has me remembering another Mann's worm that was my go to worm for a couple years. It was a 6" worm but fairly thick and had more of a big "C" swimming tail, kind of like a gator tail worm. Caught so many bass on that worm in red shad color. Looked like the 6" Hardnose worm but I don't remember it having the hardnose feature.
  16. He's not a follower, that's for sure. Guy does his own thing and makes it work, and I can appreciate that about him. Haven't paid any attention to tournaments the last few years but I see him all over fishing ads so I assume he's been doing well.
  17. I've got a Cardiff 300 that works really well for baits in that size range.
  18. I've dabbled with the suspending Quake 80. Managed to get a few to nibble at it.
  19. Pretty much been a Ned rig or nothing when it comes to soft baits lately. TRDs, big TRDs, and Trout Tricks have been the baits of choice.
  20. Cold, muddy water is one of the few conditions that will keep me at the house. I wouldn't fish deep, that's for sure. Do like others suggested and try shallow with a Colorado bladed spinnerbait or bladed jig in a dark color.
  21. I lean more towards the faster side, but I'm plenty capable of slowing down when needed. Twice this tournament season, I fished a very small area the entire day over and over again to pick every fish I could off of them, winning one and getting second and big bass the next.
  22. Have a big bag of black ones in the boat that gets fished pretty often.
  23. My dad caught a 23" walleye on a bluegill head suspended under a bobber we were floating over submerged grass for channel cats. I caught a 6.5lb largemouth at the same lake on a weightless chunk of bluegill, also targeting channel cats along the deeper edges of the grass. I caught a 2-3lb bass on a half a frozen bluegill I set out to try to catch snapping turtles. It never hit bottom, line just took off as the frozen solid half a gill fluttered to the bottom with a big treble hook buried in it.
  24. I'd want to live somewhere I could catch big largemouth and smallmouth, with a big assortment of species (stripers, muskie, and big blue cats getting priority), that doesn't get as cold as it does here. Pretty much leaves me with Arkansas and Tennessee.
