  1. I was in Florida for 5 days and caught more than 20 from the banks of ponds and canals with the handful of baits I smuggled into my clothes bag without my wife knowing. The troll is strong in this post.
  2. They're stocked trout, don't make it more difficult than it needs to be. White, pink, yellow, and chartreuse are solid color choices. I like Turner Jones Micro jigs but I'm not sure you can still get them anywhere. Lindy Little Nipper jigs are a good cheap option. The trout magnets work well for a plastic choice. You can always tie a little hair on them also.
  3. Mouth looks awfully small to be a crappie. Looks like it might be a Flier?
  4. A pink bladed jig? That's nonsense, it'll never work.
  5. I have both Tatsu and Abrasx on spinning reels of mine, all of it is 8lb, it works just fine.
  6. I actually checked those blades this morning and they're #6's, not 5's. Probably a little over an inch long. I poured a 1/4oz spinnerbait and put a little Colorado blade on the front and it made a nice looking little bait. Have to do something with them, they're copper blades so I paid well for them.
  7. I don't use that one too often anymore. I need to take updated pictures of it, those ones are about 5 years ago. It's quite a bite more chewed since then.
  8. I swap mine to EWG's. Traps are notoriously easy for fish to throw. The EWG's seem to help that situation.
  9. If you knew the people, I'd say you could have a conversation. Doesn't sound like you do though, so you're probably best off just calling and having the local police or animal control talking to them. Having a face to face conversation, if it doesn't work out, will just put a target on your back should you decide to take the next step and call the police.
  10. Congrats Lions fan! Gutsy finish to get the win. So many close calls this year, they had to come out on top eventually.
  11. @TnRiver46 that's a meanie for sure. I know people see me in my kayak and think I have way too many rods. I let that get to me Saturday and I'm still kicking myself over it. I managed to cut it down to 6, really wanted to bring a rod I could punch grass or fish a frog on, but it's December in Kansas, why would I need those? If I'd have had that rod, I'd have been catching frog fish in Kansas, in December, that's why. I had fish in inches of water waking behind my spinnerbait from clumps of dead grass like it was middle of summertime, but the water was 48-49 degrees. I tried my one frog I had on my bladed jig rod with 15lb Big Game, but the bite I got on it pretty quickly, the fish just laughed at me when I set the hook on it. Still, I caught a bunch of fish and several nice quality ones. Got to really play with the new Okuma Hakai doing something I think it's a little better suited for than what I had been using it for. I was using it for spinnerbaits, but I swapped it to my lipless rod and it did great. The RES 2tap, a homemade spinnerbait, homemade bladed jig, and a Berkley Stunna did most of the damage. I was in the middle of deer hunting and duck hunting country. This picture looks peaceful and serene, but it sounded like I was in a war zone.
  12. This is how my kids catch most of their fish on it. Just cast it out, let it sink, let it sit until they remember their bait is in the water, then reel their fish in. It works from the bank also, especially around where there is wave action that will make the bait wobble around on the bottom. They're good dogs and both of them do well in the boat. My older dog has been going since she was 4 months old, she's 9 now. The initial fall, I'm line watching for signs of strikes on the fall. Then it's a steady retrieve that stays near the bottom after that.
  13. Zman makes the TRD in bubble gum. I had one guide trip that it was our best producing color. Their Twilight color is pink and purple and was probably my best color for smallmouth on a Ned last year. A wacky rigged trick worm is great in the post spawn for smallies here.
  14. This is a terrible idea, escalate a situation and committed battery. I understand is sucks when people decide to be like this, but don't let it make you react in such a way that you end up getting hurt or arrested.
  15. I ordered some #5 Indiana blades last winter and what I got are tiny. Maybe at some point I'll make some finesse baits with them but they're way too small for the spinnerbaits I make.
  16. The standard one I was fishing Saturday was a near neutral suspender to extremely slow sinker, but still effective.
  17. Fred, I'll name him Fred. IDK but it would be cool if YUM came out with the flanged style bait like that in their price range.
  18. I like these kinds of lures. When I've going through my boxes in the winter, I'll turn lures over looking at the scratches. Each scratch is a beauty mark to me.
  19. If I'd have had a rod to fish them on, I absolutely could have caught fish on a frog Saturday, in 48-49 degree water. I tied on on my bladed jig rod, got bit, but the fish just laughed at me when I tried to set the hook. Didn't have any buzzbaits or other topwaters in my kayak, but they were all over a waked spinnerbait around the clumps of dead shoreline grass. Under the right conditions, topwater in cold water will absolutely do work. I've spooked bass out of dead shoreline weeds that had skim ice on them.
  20. Berkley Flicker Shad Shallow. It's an excellent finesse/coldwater crank for bass, but it doesn't seem like I ever hear about it. Lots of people here fish the regular and jointed Flicker Shads for walleye and white bass, but not often for bass.
  21. I've commented a few times on post about the Victory rods that the rod I have does not feel as stiff as you might expect from a H/XF. Works great for what I wanted it for, but I was a little nervous ordering it without ever feeling it that it was going to be a very stout rod, but I was pleasantly surprised.
  22. When I go one multiple day trips, I always have extra line.
