Ned rig to the rescue...
I know he and his wife are both in their 80's but still get out at least a time or two a week. He doesn't usually go for 4 hour trips like he use to and anymore he's pretty negative in his reports, you'd think the lakes around here barely had a fish left in them. I was using a swim-shake-glide in this video. Pitched it up at the banks and let it fall to the bottom. As soon as my line stopped sinking, I started the retrieve and the bait never touched bottom again, although the time between start of the retrieve and the bite didn't give it much time.

The latest sale thread
It always pays to read the forum rules, you agree to them when you sign up to participate. This is a copy/paste directly from them that should clear it up a little bit. Attempting to avoid spam/profanity filters will get you a warning and/or banned. Why does the site or product name I posted show up as "another site" or as ***? First it has nothing to do with competition. In most cases, it has something to do with the points above - site owners not abiding by the rules of the forum, or over-zealous pro-staffers spamming the forums. In some cases, however, the site owner specifically requested that we do not link to their site. If your post contains ***, then that means you may not discuss that brand here. Your post will likely be deleted, and you may get banned (see the next paragraph below).

Line for Jigs
I don't know that I would call it "fun", it's a unique challenge for sure.

Line for Jigs
It must not get down to freezing temps while you're fishing. Braid when the air temps are cold enough to ice the line is unfishable. Not only that, but it carries so much more water back to your guides and reel that everything ices up faster.

What's a hybrid gar? Never heard that one.

The clickbaitingest catfish video on the internet
The clickbait Youtube videos are the worse. Catfish Dave has no cares to give what people think about him.

Line for Jigs
I use 15lb Tatsu for a majority of my jig fishing.

Fat Cow Baits & Lures
I bought some of the jig chunks for my bass jigs. They were extremely thin. I haven't used them enough to give them a fair chance probably, but that's mostly because I was so disappointed by how thin they were.

Ned rig to the rescue...
Ned Kehde. He's from about 30 minutes away from me and we run into each other on the water pretty frequently. The swim-shake-glide is by far my favorite presentation. My bait is rarely, if ever on the bottom except maybe the initial fall to find the bottom. Even in very cold water like this time of year, with a 1/16oz head, the bait is moving so slowly that the fish have no problem running it down.

The Found Lures Thread
I took 3 trips to the lake by my house before I was finally able to retrieve a 130 plopper in the Sooner color. It was so high and so wound up in heavy braid I couldn't tear it loose. Oddly enough, found another in the same color just around the point from that one last week, also way up in a tree on a lake with not many trees on it. I could tell this one Tuesday was an Ozark Trail floating minnow, so I wasn't going to put much effort into it. I collect the bobbers and donate them to kids fishing derbies.

Yes he can fix any of them.

My Shark Fishing RC Boat Is Ready To Ship
I thought the guys might have one of those when I went beach shark fishing in Florida but they just walked out into the water in the dark to set the baits, no thanks.

Washing a car.
I appreciate the nice, clean vehicles, but I don't drive one. I could not tell you the last time I washed my truck. It's usually more of a thing that I went down a muddy road and go to the car wash so I can spray off the heavier stuff and call it good. It's an '08 with almost 170k miles on it though, not a new Tesla.

The Road To The Super Bowl 2022
Seems like they've been saying that for a few years now? Feels like a "Keep saying it, and it will be right eventually", kind of thing. Although I think it just seems like it's time for a change at this point.

Got to love it when they can't even use a picture of the right kind of fish in their news article ?

Amazing who you can meet fishing!
I met Brad Paisley when he came into Cabela's shopping before he played a show in KC. Big fan of his but we just talked fishing and I didn't even mention that I knew who he was until he was about to leave. He asked if I was going to his show and I told him I didn't have tickets. He said he'd leave some at will call for me if I wanted them. Not only did he do that, but they were second row right in front, couldn't believe it.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Dale Sylva GMO Customs Rods. I smashed the butt section of my bladed jig rod in my truck door this spring and he fixed it to where I can't tell anything was ever wrong with it. He redid one of the guides that had been damaged at one point and it looked great also.

There's a guy in La Cygne that does them for $10 a guide and does excellent work but I can't think of his name ?♂️

Snaps on Hard Baits?
I scoffed at my fishing buddy for doing it until I tried it myself, then I wondered why in the world I waited so long to try it myself. Not only is changing baits easier, but being able to remove my baits easily before storing my rods at the end of the day is so nice too. Way less tangled rods in the rod locker and no surprise hooks that slipped out of the bait wraps when I'm reaching for a rod in the locker. I know for fact that I caught 1 of my fish over 7 this year as a direct result of using snaps. With cold hands, I never would have switched baits if I had to retie just to put on a deeper running bait to make a few cast like I did. With the snap, I did it fairly easily though and having already thrown my flatside through the same area, that fish took the deeper running bait. Never would have happened otherwise. Now I keep a small selection of baits out that I can cycle through in productive spots and narrow down productive baits faster also.

Monster fish
#5 shad rap on a ML spinning rod with #8 abrasX hooked right in dorsal fin, we went for a ride.

Ultralight rods
What size inlines are you using? IMO, most UL rods don't have the backbone to set the hook with anything but the smallest spinner hooks. I've got a 6' Avid UL and it just can't do it.

The Found Lures Thread
Found 2 baits today, one so high in the tree I couldn't reach it and the other was a KVD 1.5 stuck on a dock cable.
