  1. Bone/White/Pearl is what I go to for jerks and topwaters. Chrome sexy, or blue chrome from lipless. Cranks I like green or blue gizzard shad, and river shiner.
  2. Tossed my anchor over from my 2 man once without looking at the rope. Of course it had worked around the handles of both reels I owned at the time. It took some diving but I got both rods back, one was broken after I can only assume it smashed into the rocks on it's way down.
  3. I enjoy helping others catch fish, especially people just getting into it, almost as much as I enjoy catching fish myself.
  4. I'm the same way with our lake levels here. I'm usually up to date on lake levels even on lakes I rarely fish. https://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/Locations/
  5. I think it's pretty reasonable to assume that a single person in a FISHING boat with FISHING gear is probably FISHING. I wish they did a lot more patrolling and enforcing of wildlife laws here.
  6. Way back when I was 16, working at Cabela's, Denny Brauer was in there signing autographs and talking to people when he was sponsored by them. He's always been one of my favorites and I was just getting into fishing a jig so I was really excited to talk to him. I used my whole lunch break talking to him and asked him how he gets fish out of heavy cover and he gave me the "I worry about getting them on, then I worry about getting them out". It stuck with me as being very obvious and simple and how I've approached it ever since. It's bit me more than once, but you miss 100% of those shots you don't take.
  7. Welcome and congrats on the retirement!
  8. I thought they still had Brissett, who was a pretty serviceable QB I thought, but he plays for the Phins now. Their QB prospects are pretty bleak, NAME POS AGE HT WT EXP COLLEGE Jacob Eason9 QB 23 6' 6" 231 lbs 2 Washington Sam Ehlinger4 QB 22 6' 1" 222 lbs R Texas Brett Hundley3 QB 28 6' 3" 226 lbs 7 UCLA
  9. In the age of everyone looking for the "Silver Bullet", why not the proven fish catcher that is largely ignored by modern fishermen? What's old is new again right?
  10. I use an 8.1 Helios TCS on my punching rod. You shouldn't be moving fish with the reel when you're punching, that's the rods job. The reel just takes up line to make the next flip/pitch. The more flips/pitches I can make, the better the chance I put it in front of a fish. A faster reel lets me retrieve faster when I'm done with a cast and get my bait back out faster, making more presentations at the end of the day.
  11. It would be a swimbait rod bait for sure.
  12. I have a bass boat and a john boat. I've used the johnboat once this year and my bass boat a handful of times since I got my kayak. I fish alone most of the time anyways, so that part of it made sense, but I enjoy the simplicity so much also.
  13. I fish almost exclusively Eagle Claw hooks except for trebles ?‍♂️ and I do fish some of their trebles. Not sure which one of their hooks he's using, but they make good hooks, at least I do okay with them. All my baits that I make have EC hooks on them also.
  14. Probably something as simple as slowing down/speeding up, maybe adding some pauses/snaps to your retrieve, or a color change.
  15. Heat indexes were over 100 and water temps were in the low 90's this past weekend. My best bait was a bladed jig in less than 5' of water. 2 weeks ago in similar conditions, we won a weeknight tournament primarily on a bladed jig, buzzbait, and popper also in less than 5' of water. You can always find some willing to bite, just a matter of how hard to you want to work for them.
  16. Pokémon Fishing Kyogre 6" 1.7oz
  17. I still get excited to beat the bank for 30 minutes after work in the mornings even though I know I'm most likely only catching 1-4 12-15 inch fish.
  18. Both my boys want me to buy them. I almost bought the blue one because I have a soft spot for big crawlers. I've seen pictures of fish caught on them, I still might do it.
  19. He's mine, I promise I worked a lot harder than he ever has at his age. He's more interested in Pokémon right now, but we'll be in Florida all week so he's taking it with him there in case he sees something he wants to buy.
  20. My wife was watering her flowers when I got home from my tournament Saturday evening. I'd driven a lot of dirt roads, so my kayak was really dusty. I was going to spray it off but my 4 year old wanted to help me. 10 minutes of being home and my kayak was getting washed for me. I paid him $5 for helping me out ?
  21. I was just talking to my boss while he was doing his rounds. I worked the position I'm in a week ago. It's very clear that not a single supply has been stocked since I was here last when I restocked everything. It's a very menial task, but when you don't have the supplies needed to do your job because someone else was too lazy to do theirs, suddenly it's not such a small issue. So I'll be busy all night, doing that job that 7 other people between now and when I worked here last couldn't find the time in their shifts to get done. One of them even stopped me right after roll call to tell me one of the things I was out of, because he used the last of them at the start of his shift the night before. So he knew for most of his shift he was out, and decided to leave it for me to take care of tonight instead of doing his job, frustrating.
  22. It actually kind of looks good in the water, but I have to wonder about the durability of that tail? Once it's gone, that bait is done.
  23. Found a 1.5 KVD crankbait in what use to be a red craw color but was sun baked into a pinkish color. Worked too hard to get a spinnerbait just to find out it was an Ozark Trail, didn't even know they had them. Also found another Whopper Plopper 90 in the T1000 color that looks brand new. I just gave a young man a couple ploppers because he'd never fished one and his mom didn't want to spend the money on them, so maybe some karma coming back to me, although I don't need any more of them.
